In their editorial “Caffeine addiction? Caffeine for youth? Time to act!”, authors Budney and Emond argue the psychostimulant properties of caffeine and its potential for addiction/dependence and the increase in marketing of caffeinated beverages, should call for more attention on the impact of the physical and mental health of adolescents. Budney and Emond stated that while the media is encouraging and promoting caffeinated beverages, we don’t yet fully understand the effects of caffeine on our minds. The authors mentioned that caffeine promotes an improvement in mood and both cognitive and motor performances. Though it has also been linked to negative effects like nausea, anxiety, and disrupted sleep. Thus leading to negative effects
