Subject: How Apple can promote to College Students

Apple products are something college students and twentysomethings should not live without, so I will explain how and why they should have them. With over 40 products ranging from phones, laptops, pads, music accessories, and software. I will discuss how these products can be promoted. The data used will come from various online sources and the apple website itself.
This report will consist of the significance of the products, way to promote the products, a conclusion, and recommendation.
Products: The Usefulness for Everyday College Students
As with the wide variety of products, they come with many useful means to college students. Here is a list of the important products with their use and cost.

• Apple MacBook- A high speed and reliable laptop that can come with many of the needed tools for students. Price: $1,000-2,000+
• The iPhone- The iPhone is one of the most popular types of phones capable of having thousands of pictures and plenty of apps for the college experience. Price: $300-500
• The iPad- A in between from the laptop and phone, can run more apps than the phone with a bigger screen. Price: $300-600
• Apple Watch- This would allow you to keep track of events and study time throughout the busy school schedule. Price: $350-600

These products can be a bit costly compared to competitors. Even so, they give the best personalization with every college student wants. The only problem is getting the students to see how great the products are and why they should have them. I will now talk about ways to promote these products and how to get them in the hands of students.
Promotion 1: Social Media

No college students goes a day without checking Facebook or Twitter. These sites that are used to connect students with friends can be a very good way to allow them to see how at home Apple products are. Currently Apple has 9 million likes on their Facebook page. The problem is it lacks the creative appeal to attract college students to participate. To catch student’s attentions, videos or songs could be made and posted on the main Apple page. Including the products themselves would be very important but just getting students to retweet or like something from the page is a great way to get the idea of the brand in the student’s heads. Since the use of social media comes with a lot of trends and styles particular to younger crowds, using them would be a great way of attracting the young crowd. The cost of doing this is little to none, requiring a set team for promotions through social media.

Promotion 2: School Bought Products for Student Use
Colleges themselves still need things like computers. Selling products at a lower price to allow schools to openly use them for students would be a great way to increase the knowledge of Apples products to college students. A good example of this would be offering iPads to be checked out for use in the library. These could come with downloaded books and movies to show students how convenient they truly are. Apple already has the idea of doing this at other levels of education. With how big college is, it may be more difficult to integrate the idea of products for use to students. I still believe however, this would be a very good way for college students to get their hands on the products to encourage future purchases of the products.

Promotion 3: Job Training Programs
Allowing students to be trained for future work under the use or with work experience with Apple would be a great way to promote the products. This could involve on campus meetings and lecture by Apple employees for areas of work relating to the company. Of course only a portion of college students will be studying for something in those areas. This would still offer insight for the students along with possible opportunities for work. This would not cost too much for Apple to do at select colleges and would give the students a possible life time interest in the product or company.

Conclusions and Recommendations
Ultimately Apple is already a well know name to most but could be more deeply involved in the young crowd or college setting. If the products are promoted properly and with the understanding of the initiative uniqueness that comes with the products, more students would be willing to pay to have them. Simple advertising does little to none to capture the attention of students. This is why a more direct approach that involves trends and things students see or deal with daily will be much more effective.
I recommend asking the college available to use funds to by Apple products for student use. This would allow students to try the products in the college setting for educational use before buying them as well as getting the product name out to them.
