Fast food plays a crucial part in youth society. It’s addicting to some. May even result in death for others. The fast food industries rely on children as their main customer. Make an entertaining, colorful commercial with an amusing, crazy creature that sometimes makes funny noises and you have kids hooked, along with their parent’s money. While reading Chew On This and watching Food Inc., I had a strange thought; there has to be some way I could change this.
I want to inspire and influence kids around my age to eat healthier. While watching the movie Food Inc., I learned that a young boy got E. coli from eating a hamburger with his family during a vacation. Unfortunately, he died 12 days after eating the hamburger. This woman’s story affected

Documentary Analysis: Why Our Food Is Making Us Fat

...Peretti, Jacques. "Why Our Food Is Making Us Fat." The Guardian. Guardian News and Media, 11 June 2012. Web. 10 June 2016. This web article started with the author's point of view as he rode on a bariatric ambulance (an ambulance designed especially to care for the obese). The information gathered from this web source include facts from a twelve year study done at Plymouth hospital, Earl Butz, Surplus of corn, Hank Cardello, and many other important figureheads of the obesity epidemic. This web article will primarily be used as how the epidemic started and who is to blame. I trust this source by the links given within the article. Each important name, study, and association has a hyperlink that leads the reader to where the author has received his information. This article pertains to how the food industry has changed since the mid-70s, including history of the Nixon Presidency and what figureheads are doing now to reverse damages being made. The author gives strong reasons to blame the food industry. Kenner, Robert. "Food, Inc." PBS. PBS, 21 Apr. 2010. Web. 10 June 2016....

...takes to maintain your current weight. Bigger folks need more calories to fuel them; as they start to lose pounds, they’ll require fewer. Just go to www.runnersworld.com/ rybo and go to the basal metabolic rate (BMR) calculator, where you can enter your numbers. This tool measures how many calories you need each day to maintain your current weight if you’re sitting around doing absolutely nothing—and how many you need if you’re more active. Once you know how many calories you need to maintain your weight, you can make some well-informed decisions about the food you’re consuming and your exercise. You can eat less or move more to get the scale to move, too. n Calorie Math: A Quick Review Let’s strip this idea down to the simplest possible terms. Your body burns calories every day. If you eat more calories than your body burns, those calories are stored on the body as fat. If you eat fewer calories than your body burns, you lose fat. In other words, a calorie deficit is what leads to weight loss. H ow much of a deficit do you need to create? Well, a pound is 3,500 calories. So if you want to lose a pound in a week, you need to have a deficit of 500 calories per day. There are three different ways you can go about this: You can keep your diet the same but do more activity. If you run five miles, for instance, you might burn about 500...

Porter's 5 Forces

...1.0 Competition in premium chocolate industry The competition in the premium chocolate industry can be explained by applying the Porters 5 forces model. This model, named after Michael Porter (1979), can be looked upon as a framework to analyze and structure an industry. It is a theoretical tool to elaborate the potential threats but also the chances of a particular industry. Porter mentions five forces that have an impact on an industry; suppliers, buyers, potential entrant, substitutes and the rivalry among existing firms. (Production of Analysis, viewed 11th June, 2010) The Porters 5 forces model for Chocolates premium industry Bargaining power of suppliers In production of premium chocolate the primary raw material is cocoa bean, secondary sugar, and milk. Concerning sugar and milk, there are numerous suppliers of these materials available around the world; there is no concentration, neither a necessary differentiation. Manufacturers can use financial techniques such as hedging in order to reduce the impact of price rises on their own margins. In addition to the fact that according to CAOBISCO, there are 4.5 million of cocoa farms around the world, to whom the chocolate manufactures are an extremely important customer, the bargaining power of the chocolate premium industry suppliers is generally low (CAOBISCO, 2009). ). However since the fine grade cocoa production represents a small part of the world’s supply, the bargaining...

...Moore−Parker: Critical Thinking, Ninth Edition 5. Persuasion Through Rhetoric: Common Devices and Techniques Text © The McGraw−Hill Companies, 2009 Chapter Persuasion Through Rhetoric 5 It’s just the way things are: Images and impressions tend to sell more products than good arguments do. At least some of the images are fun. Common Devices and Techniques W hen the military uses the phrase “self-injurious behavior incidents” regarding detainees at Guantánamo Bay, it means what most of us call “attempted suicides.” In fact, when the word “detainees” is used, it means what most of us call “prisoners.” “Waterboarding” sounds at first like something you’d expect to see young people doing on a California beach, not a torture technique that involves forced simulated drowning. Less remarkable, perhaps, but possibly more relevant for most of us, we’ve heard the term “downsized” used when someone is fired or laid off. “Ethnic cleansing” covers everything from deportation to genocide. What we have to say may be important, but the words we choose to say it with can be equally important. The examples just given are cases of a certain type of linguistic coercion—an attempt to get us to adopt a particular attitude toward a subject that, if described differently, would seem less attractive to us. Words have tremendous persuasive power, or what we have called their rhetorical force or emotive meaning—their power to express and elicit images, feelings, and emotional...

The learners have also discovered that cells divide to produce new cells by mitosis and meiosis. They have understood that meiosis is an early step in sexual reproduction that leads to variation. Students have been introduced to genetics to be able to appreciate evolutionary differences among species. Learners have also found out that biodiversity is the collective variety of species living in an ecosystem, and by studying the ecosystem; they have come across the various cycling of materials and energy transformation. ...Collapse- book is about a history topic about how societies choose to fail or survive. The main characters are historical people and unknown kings of Mayan cities or Easter Island villages. Jared Diamond tells the story of the Viking explorer Erik the Red, who discovered Greeland and Vinland (Terranova, in Canada). Another character is captain Olafsson, a norse sailor who wrote the last news about Greenland in 1410. Another main character is Christopher Columbus, who arrived at Hispaniola in 1492, but now this island is two countries, the Dominican Republic and the Haiti. Diamond studied the politics of two presidents. the dominican Rafael Trujillo, who protected the enviroment and the dictator François, Papa Doc, Duvalier, who decided on politics of deforestatation of his country, Haiti. The author considered the bad politics of another main character, king George II, who was interested in sending merinosheeps from Spain to Australia, an idea which was succesful from 1820 to 1950 but then the farmers understood their lands lost fertility. Another main character is Tokuwaga Jeayasu, a shogun of Japan in 1600, who prohibited Christianity in 1600 and protected his country againt deforestation.  The book takes us to a lot of places around the globe: Mayan cities, Rwanda, Viking colonies of Vinland or Greenland, Haiti and Dominican Republic, Easter Island and Polynesian colonies in Pacific, and the Chaco villages in New Mexico (United States).
