...Beneath my couch lies a villain with cute little claws ready to rip at my socks and feet. There’s an obvious reasons why dogs are consider man's best friend instead of finicky felines, and it’s because cats are dicks. In all actuality, the main reasons are dogs care and listen. Though I’ve only been around for 20 years, I’ve never meet a dog that didn’t at least know its name, yet countless number of cats don’t even look when its name is spoken. Somehow people still think cats are smarter than dogs. In spite of knowing this, I’m a frequently annoyed, yet somehow still proud cat owner. My mom and I put up so much crap with Roxas. I’m surprised I’m still a cat owner. If he isn’t chewing on things he isn’t supposed to, he’s waiting to strike within the couch when someone sits down. Not to mention, he leaves a piece of him, in the form of fur, everywhere he goes. Though he doesn’t have control of that last pet peeve. For someone like me, who’s a child at heart, there’s nothing worse then waking up only to find out my self proclaimed cuddle buddy decided to have my beloved DS charger for a midnight snack. I had planned my...

...scratching that a cat might be doing. It is seen as a way to prevent one’s furniture, and other belongings from being scratched up. What most proponents of declawing do not realize, however, is all of the physical and mental distress that the cat will now suffer for the rest of its life because of this one action. Many people do not realize all of the harm that can come from declawing their cat. Those who believe that it is a quick fix to prevent their cat from scratching things do not realize that declawing their cat can actually cause years of mental and physical problems for their cat. This can range from the cat becoming more aggressive, to being highly insecure. What most people do not understand is that cats need to use their claws as a basic everyday need. It is very common to mistake clawing as a behavior problem, but in reality a cat isn’t clawing...

...Glamorous hands and feet Beautiful and elegant nails can be done in the comfort of your own home. Today, we are going to learn how to turn those worn out nails into elegant and beautiful nails. We will learn how to give ourselves a manicure and pedicure. First, we will start by gathering our list of items we will need. We will need the following items; such as, a foot soaking tub, wet wash cloth, dry towel, nail polish remover, cotton balls, nail polish, (I like to choose from a variety of colors) and a top clear coat. We will also need, a nail buffer, nail file, cuticle cream, cuticle clippers, toe spacers, , skin so soft and a nail dryer. I also like to have handy, an aerosol can of nail drying spray. (This is optional). Let us begin turning those brittle nails into elaborate nails. We will start by taking off the old polish. When choosing a nail polish remover, I prefer to use a non-acetone for natural nails; for instance, this will keep your natural nails less dry and much smoother. Let’s start with the finger nails. Take your dry towel, lay it over your lap or table to put your hands on; because, you don’t want to get the polish remover on your clothes or furniture, for this might ruin them. Now let’s take a cotton ball and soak it with the polish remover. Apply the cotton ball to your nail and rub firmly, make sure you remove all old polish. Repeat the process to the toenails to remove any unwanted old polish. You will then take the wet cloth and wipe both finger...

...Name: Dapplepaw Clan: Galaxyclan Age: just turned 6 moons Gender: She-cat Appearance: Dapplepaw is a calico colored cat with yellow eyes. She got into a fight with a badger which ended with her loosing her tail. Personality: Dapplepaw is a stubborn cat who likes to think her way is the right way. She won't give up and will pursue something to the end of it. She loves her clan and will fight tooth and claw to protect it. Roleplay Sample: Dapplepaw was in the Nursery, laying down for once and not causing any trouble."Now stay here and don't do anything while I'm gone." her mother (mother's name) said. nodded and (mother's name) left. Dapplepaw sprang up as soon as she was gone and went to the entrance of the Nursery and poked her head outside to see if the coast was clear. Once it was clear that no one was looking over here, Dapplepaw ran in the shadows toward the entrance to the camp. Dapplepaw ran until she could hardly see the camp and stopped. Dapplepaw layed down and began to feel tired because of all the running she did and soon fell asleep. Dapplepaw woke up to the sounds of shuffling paws and growling. She opened her eyes and came face-to-face with badger. Her eyes widened in fear seeing as she was alone and had no idea how to fight it off. Dapplepaw slowly got up and into a poorly made crouch and prepared to try and fight and hoped that she some how made it out alive. Picture: (can someone be her...

...of most human beings. For example the saying that “these mean things will claw your eyes out” is really not true. Such a thing won't happen unless you corner a cat and/or it's afraid for its life. Each cat has their own personality, but most cats are very independent and can be very stubborn. (i.e. it's hard to train a cat to make it do what you want, like sit or roll over) They can also have a short temper, but will usually warn you before you really make them mad. After forming a bond of trust with the cat, they have nothing but love for an owner that treats them right. Cats are great at cuddling in bed, but If cuddling isn't your thing they will learn to give you your space and sleep at the foot of the bed or on a chair. Cats are very playful. They instinctively enjoy running around and catching things that move. Cats also will genuinely care about an owner they love. For example, if you leave the house/apartment they will worry that you left them, or if you or a loved one is crying they will often try to comfort you. It should also be noted that petting a cat is scientifically proven to lower blood pressure and stress. So go ahead, pet them all you want! They will love it, and you will too. Just don't pet their fur backwards! Also, most cats don't like their hind feet touched, and their stomach only when they trust you enough. They do, however, love their cheeks to be rubbed. Cats DO have claws, so be...

...declaw your cat. This is happens today, but it is becoming less common as people have learned how a cat is declawed and what the short term and long term affects are on our feline friends. More and more veterinarians have stopped offering the procedure, due the research that has taken place. In many cases, the only time veterinarians are will to do the declawing procedure is if there is a medical reason like a tumor. There is also more humane options that you can use in place of declawing. Here are some of the reasons that you should rethink declawing your feline. It’s Not Just the Removal of the Claws Most pet owners that declaw their pets do not fully know what the declawing procedure entails. The name is very misleading, as it is not just the claws being removed. Sadly, due the way that cat claws grow in, when a cat is declawed, they have an amputation to the bone that the claw would normally grow from. In humans, this would be amputating all of your fingers to the first knuckle, as our nails grow in from the bone. Clawing is Natural and a Healthy Behavior Some cats will continue to do the clawing motion after they have been declawed. It’s not...

...The Shakespeare Code Through the years, the works of Shakespeare have been subject to numerous reinterpretations - latest in an episode of the television show, Doctor Who, in which the prominent English poet and playwright himself makes an appearance, constituting it as an excellent opportunity for introducing younger generations to his crafts. The portrayal of the Shakespeare, however, might differ a great deal from the prevalent idea of the widely known figure, describing him as rather foul-mouthed and possessing rude manners very unlike the deep and thoughtful plays he produced. Having the character appear more down-to-earth, it is obvious that the producers intended to depict him as a man of the people rather than simply a roundabout aristocrat. Nevertheless, certain parallels are drawn to the present-day by having the famous author almost possess rockstar-status among folks, forcing him to handle similar situations, like constantly attempting to maintain his good reputation by creating new plays on a weekly basis. The episode also contains references to the numerous debates concerning Shakespeare’s controversial sexuality. At one point, he subsequently flirts with the title character of the show, at which the Doctor hastily observes, "Fifty-seven academics just punched the air", referring to the polemic disputations concerning this subject. Shakespeare is likewise seen romancing with the female protagonist, Martha, for whom he ultimately composes Sonnet 18, calling...

...Visiting a primary health care provider as a medical professional can be an interesting and sometimes profound experience. My situation was certainly not unique. I had been having low back for quite some time and it was recently exacerbated while playing tennis. I was unable to stand for any length of time and could not sleep prone or flat on my back. I also had shooting pains down my right leg. I was very concerned about long term health and the potential of “chronic back pain”. My ultimate goal was to get a referral for an MRI to determine the extent of the injury. I would also request a muscle relaxant to assist in relieving the pain. It’s very interesting and sometimes odd going to the Dr.’s office as a patient. As a nurse and medical professional we are so accustomed to obtaining the medical history, vital signs, and asking all the other questions, that when roles have been turned, it can become a little uneasy or we find ourselves using a critical eye. My last time I visited a primary care physician was quite some time ago, but it was indeed an interesting experience. It wasn’t terribly busy, but the check in clerk appeared though she didn’t have a lot of time for me, gave me a clipboard, and instructed me to fill out the paper work and then return. She was professional but short and made very little eye contact. When I returned the paperwork she took it without making eye contact and asked me to take a seat once again. As an ER nurse who often triages patients...

...miniature jeans, the sweatshirt bunched beneath the seat belt’s strap, the hiking boots dangling off the floor like weights. “You OK?” he said. “You have to pee?” He slowed and drove the car onto the shoulder and the boy got out to pee. He looked at him standing on that rise in the brome and the bunchgrass, his little hips pushed forward. When the boy walked back to the car he swung the door open for him, then reached over and pulled the door shut and bumped out on the empty road. Not much had changed, really. A half hour out of Hoquiam he began to see the clear-cuts through the firs: a strange, white light, as if the world dropped away fifty feet out from the pavement. He hoped the boy wouldn’t notice. The two of them had been talking about what to do if you saw a mountain lion (don’t run, never run), and what they’d have for lunch. Twenty minutes later they were past it, and the light behind the trees had disappeared. He’d been at the house by dawn, as he’d promised. He sat in the driveway for a while looking at the yard, the azaleas he’d planted, the grass in the yard beaten flat by the rain. For a long time he hadn’t wanted her back, hadn’t wanted much of anything, really. He went inside, wiping his shoes and ducking his head like a visitor, and when the boy came running into the living room he threw him over his shoulder, careful not to hit his head on...

...Let’s skip ahead to when you finally finish school. Hooray! Now it’s time to get a job. This chapter is all about helping you get your dream job. There is no way for me to see all your skills and experiences just by looking at you. Sure I could google your name, search for your facebook profile, or call around to ask about you, but that would take up far too much time (and time is money to your possible employer). If you told me everything about yourself, I would only remember a quarter of it (and probably not the quarter that would get you the job). You need to put it all together on a very special piece of paper called a Resume. There are many ways to design your resume, but to get that dream job, you should follow some simple rules. 1. No matter how much you want to say, it must all fit on one page two sided and cannot be crowded. Extra pages will get lost. 2. Have your name in a large font at the top of the first page so there is no mistake about whose resume this is. 3. Include your contact information right after your name. Be sure to get the correct information here. You don’t want them to call someone else with a job offer. 4. It is a good idea to have a goal or purpose that describes what you want from this job. For example, you might be after summer time work or looking for a career to last you a life time. 5. Include a list of your skills. This is no time to be modest. 6. Next you will describe your educational background. This includes any certificates...

...July 7th Brings Tragedy Kortney Higgins Eng 101 x-1 Haney 11, September, 2013 Higgins 1 On June 7, 2013, a Ford Focus struck an old beat up Dodge minivan about five miles south of Macomb. This evening was intended to be a wonderful night, with meatloaf, mac 'n cheese, and green beans for dinner, Kara's favorite meal. Tragedy got in the way of a terrific night's plans; my sister and her boyfriend just happened to be aboard that Ford Focus that evening. “Ring, Ring, Ring.” I picked up to hear the voice of my ex- boyfriend, whom I had not spoken to in quite some time, and I instantly heard the panic in his voice. His cracky voice told me that my sister and Brandon had been in a severe car accident, and Brandon was okay, but Kara was being taken to McDonough District Hospital in Macomb by ambulance. “No, not my best-friend, or my big sister!” This news struck me with emptiness. I couldn't bare the thought of my sister being hurt, or not there at all anymore. Jack tried to keep me calm, and told me to not drive, and to stay put unless I found somebody to take me to her. I knew I had to get to that hospital , so I had my friends drive me. I tried getting hold of my parents, but I failed because they were in Florida, and were out for the night. It was a 30- minute drive, that felt like days. I couldn't keep from getting gruesome pictures in my head, and I couldn't stop thinking the worst had happened. As we were driving to meet Kara at the small town hospital...

...repetitions will get a good burn in the muscles and a great workout. Use weight to increase difficulty. Standing Oblique Crunch The Standing Oblique Crunch targets the obliques, transverse abdominus, multifidus, and rectus abdominus. Being that this is a standing exercise, it makes your muscles activate to stabilize the body when balancing on one foot to lift the leg to crunch. Depending on the difficulty level you wish to achieve, lift one leg and keep it lifted throughout 10-20 repetitions, then switch sides. If you wish the difficulty level to be lower, tap the lifting foot down between repetitions. Do 3 sets on each side. Burpees Burpees are a combination cardio/strengthening exercise. This exercise targets the triceps, shoulders, upper back, abdominals and legs. Therefore, this is considered a full-body exercise and can be very beneficial to tone up...

...have been designed by ergonomics experts and widely prescribed to relieve the symptoms of typing-related RSI. They should be performed several times per day (during breaks for example). Arm Across Chest This will stretch out your shoulders, upper arms and upper back and improve your posture whilst you work on your computer. * Place your right arm across your chest, and your left hand just above your elbow. * Pull your arm across chest and hold for 10 seconds. * Relax and then repeat on other arm. Arm Massage This will massage your arms. By loosening these muscles your blood flow will improve and help flush out the toxins released when typing. * Roll up your sleeves. * Using your thumb and fingers, massage both sides of your arm from elbow to hand. Repeat on other arm. Backwards Lean This exercise helps stretch the back muscles. When you sit your posture tends to hunch due to gravity. By stretching your back you prevent poor sitting posture. * Stand with your feet shoulder width apart and hands on lower back. * Looking straight ahead, slowly lean back, keeping legs straight. Bend Head Forwards This stretch is useful for the upper back and neck which are common areas of tension. * Bend head forward and gently push down until you feel a comfortable stretch. * Relax, and repeat several times. ...say but does not understand each other. Mainly because the man has his mind set on convincing Jig to take the operation no matter what and that if Jig takes his option, their lives will go back to the way it was before. In the beginning Jig described the child she is bearing as a “white elephant” meaning, something not wanted. As the story progresses Jig then realizes that the child is not totally a white elephant. But she is not certain that if she took the man’s option, their life would be the same as he says. Jig does not directly says that she wants keep the child. Though she was giving small hints to the man but the man ignores this little action. Alcohol played a big part in the story. They needed alcohol because the characters think that this will help them discuss their dispute or avoid discussing what they need to discuss. When Jig stated “I want to try this new drink. That's all we do isn't it- look at things and try new drinks?” She is as if accusatory, a passive aggressive way of saying she wants a change. At one point in the story, Jig realizes that talking will not lead them to any wise decisions and she asks the man to stop talking. When the man took their bags to other side of tracks, Jig was left alone giving her the chance to finally think alone. When the man came back, Jig smiled at him. He sees this and asks her if she feels...
