The Coady Memorial Scholarship will assist me in the pursuit of higher education and further studies beyond MCHS by providing me with the means of attending Michigan Technological University--where I will have the opportunity to experience a unique and prestigious education--without myself and my family being excessively burdened by the financial requirements.
I have been accepted to Michigan Technological University to begin attending in the fall of 2017. I intend to pursue an engineering discipline, and have enrolled in their general engineering program, which denotes that I may decide which field of engineering after a period of exploratory classes. Civil engineering is currently a top contender, as I hope to pursue a career building and planning bridges and dams. The Coady Memorial Scholarship would go great lengths to alleviate some of the monetary stress that my attendance at MTU would cause. As my parents have always been fiscally responsible, it is my goal to graduate college without any student debt. My parents are willing to pay a portion of my costs; nonetheless, the remaining expense is more than what is foreseeably possible. I have been awarded the highest academic-based scholarship that MTU has to offer--the Scholar of Excellence Scholarship Award from the Michigan Technological University National Scholars Program--yet, the remaining expected family contribution is still greater than my mother’s annual salary.
