College Admissions Essay: What Made Me Who I Am Today

Everyone is unique because of their personality and the things they do with it. Even if it does not seem much to them or others, they are defined as unique. During my 10 years that I could remember from my childhood, I have never been that kid who was amazing in a sport or superb in school. Yet, that has not allowed me to enjoy a happy and healthy life. My decisions and who I was around, is what influenced me to be who I am today. When I was in middle school, all three years I have attended, I never actually took into consideration about my grades. I was one of those kids that went home after school every day and played video games. I had throw my backpack behind the door and would not touch it until the next day. Barely pass the class due to my procrastination and doing work last minute. When I graduated eighth grade, my mom saw my report card during the summer, and had a conversation with me that ultimately ended up impacting my life from there on. She was disappointed in me due to the fact that I did not care about my education. She told me that I had the potential of being someone one day and I should not throw that away. In the back of my mind, I was filled with fear. Fearing that I would not change and still be known as that kid who cares more about video games than his grades. High school has been my best academic years so far. I got into honor roll every marking period. My grades went up and stayed up because that is what I strived for. I challenged myself to take honors classes junior year and got grades above my expectations, and I chose to take honors again senior year. High school has taught me a lot of things not only about the real world, but about myself. The way I act, dress, hang around with, and how I see things, shaped who I am till this
