When looking at all of the forms of communication apprehension in chapter 5, I’ve noticed that I have faced all of these at some point in my life. Two of the forms that I have faced in the work place would be dyadic, and meeting forms. In my job at the Red Cross and conducting blood drive services we deal with one on one settings day in and day out. It’s our job to communicate one on one with blood donors when conducting a health history screening. On top of that we are face to face with our donors once they are on the donor bed and going through the donation process. Especially in my early days in the company when I wasn’t as comfortable I faced this dyadic form of communication apprehension (CA) because of that built anxiety that I wasn’t as confident in the information I was expressing to the donors. Whether it was doing a proper assessment of their health, or giving them post donation instructions. Donors can tell when someone is new, …show more content…
We see in the text where it says for someone like myself being introvert, to allaying my fears and using the interactions with my closest friends and family to make me more comfortable in those situations (Bevan & Sole, 2014). Another strategy that I now use, but was once hard to do was seeking assistance from others. Especially being newer in any workplace it can be hard for some, just like myself being introvert, to ask for that help. In our work place where communication is very key to not only dealing with donors, but it’s a major safety issue if people are not communicating effectively. Over time I gained the confidence to ask for assistance in situations with donors when I was not quite as certain what information needed to be relayed.
