1. They need to establish whether the product isa able to offer the imagery that they are trying to establish.
2. They will take into consideration of the product’s core audience and the group’s buying habit.
3. Consider the geographic market that the product has impact on.
4. They would also want to know whether they have a chance of leveraging on the product due to its popularity.
5. They also want to know of the products exclusivity, and will avoid a product that is already saturated with other sponsors, since they want to market themselves too as they offer the sponsorship.
6. In case they plan to sponsor a product during an event, they want to know whether their presence will be felt.
7. They want to know of the product’s ability to impact consumer sales and give their marketing a relevant point of difference.
8. They want to establish the relationship between the cost of sponsorship and the value received.

The sponsors should engage in communication with the potential partners to gauge how accommodating the shareholders will be if circumstances dictate a midstream change in benefits, activation plan and contract terms.
