Two of the more significant people during the Conquest of America was Hernán Cortés and Moctezuma. Cortés and Moctezuma were both exceptional leaders. Although they were great leaders their ideologies were vastly different. Cortés’ justification for his actions came through his strong belief in his ability to “succeed where none had before”(Chapter 3 Section 1 Pg 111).
