...History of Japanese Football Christopher Hood casts a learned eye over the history of Japanese football, on both club and national level. Japanese football has yet to make much of an impression on the world stage, despite Hidetoshi Nakata's having made his mark with Perugia and Roma in Italy's Serie A. The general perception however is that Japan is new to football and not very good at it. In fact, football has a long history in Japan. Football reached Japan within ten years of the foundation of the Football Association (FA) in London in 1863, with matches taking place between some English teachers and their pupils in Tokyo and among Western sailors in Kobe in 1871. The officially recognised date for the birth of football in the country is in September 1873 with a game at the Naval Academy in Tokyo Bay organized by a British officer, Archibald Douglas, and his men. The amused Japanese spectators assumed it was a version of kemari, an ancient Japanese ballgame connected with the Shinto religion. The first competitive match in the country is reputed to be the 1888 game between the Kobe Regatta and Athletic Club and the Yokohama Country and Athletic Club, a rivalry that continues to the present day. It was not until 1921, however, that the Japanese Football Association (JFA) was established. After reports reached London of the All Japan Schools Soccer Tournament held in Osaka in 1918, the English FA magnanimously dispatched a replica of the FA Cup as a gift to the fledgling...

...nevertheless elected to rejoin the First Division when competitive football resumed in 1919–20, at the expense of local rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Some books have reported that this election to division 1 was achieved by dubious means.[12] Arsenal appointed Herbert Chapman as manager in 1925. Having already won the league twice with Huddersfield Town in 1923–24 and1924–25 (see Seasons in English football), Chapman brought Arsenal their first period of major success. His revolutionary tactics and training, along with the signings of star players such as Alex James and Cliff Bastin, laid the foundations of the club's domination of English football in the 1930s.[13] Under his guidance Arsenal won their first major trophies – victory in the 1930 FA Cup Final preceded two League Championships, in 1930–31 and1932–33. In addition, Chapman...

...that is going on all around the world. Remember those ball and cup games from your childhood when you'd toss the ball up to make it land in the cup... Kendama is like that, but at least three times the fun. It's a traditional Japanese toss game that will throw you for ally-loop! Kendama is attention-getting fun, so just let go of that notion of keeping it to yourself. Everyone wants to take a shot at Kendama. A kendama is a Japanese toy consisting of a hammer-shaped handle connected by a string to a ball. Made of wood, the ends of the base and the crosspiece of the hammer are cupped so that they can catch the ball, and the ball has a hole in it that can fit on a spike on the end of the hammer. To play with a kendama, the ball is jerked or swung and caught in one of the cups or impaled on the spike. Kendama History There were kendama-like toys that predate the Japanese version. In particular a version called a bilboquet (or bilbouquet), which was missing the crossbar piece, was known in 16th century France, where King Henry II was said to have played it. A version of the bilboquet called the balero is still popular in Mexico. Although the Ainu in Japan are thought to have developed a bilbouquet style toy, the kendama probably traces back to the introduction of the bilboquet from Europe at the end of the 18th century. In the early 20th century the Japanese kendama had acquired the two additional side cups and was called a nichigatsu ball. In 1919 Hamaji Egusa of Hiroshima...

...Development of Football in England The idea of football came from the medieval game that was known as mob football which included two villages that would play with a pigs head. The game had no rules which meant that violence was a large part of the game and they would play until people were dying or until people were running away. Balls were not invented so the people would use a pigs head and kick that around. King Edward II was the person to ban the game as it created too much violence within the people of the country. 1581 is the earliest account of football as an organised sport. It was played between elite schools such as Eton and colleges such as Cambridge and Oxford. Sides, positions, referees were introduced. The game was played on just and average field like what farm animals would be on and they would use the gates as a goal. 1848 – Cambridge Rules This club shall be called the University Foot Ball Club. At the commencement of the play, the ball shall be kicked off from the middle of the ground: after every goal there shall be a kick-off in the same way. After a goal, the losing side shall kick off; the sides changing goals, unless a previous arrangement be made to the contrary. The ball is out when it has passed the line of the flag-posts on either side of the ground, in which case it shall be thrown in straight. The ball is behind when it has passed the goal on either side of it. When the ball is behind it shall be brought forward at the place where it left...

...behavior 6 Conclusion 7 Bibliography 8 Appendix 9 Introduction In this case, the issue that will be discussed is about Ajax and the problems between Johan Cruijff and the Supervisory Board. Which functions are engaged within the decision making for Ajax and what exactly happened recently between the directors? Furthermore, there will be a focus on the difference between groups and teams. Founded on March 18, 1900 AFC Ajax is one of the largest and most storied clubs in European football. For example, they won 30 times the National Championship, 18 times the Dutch cup, 7 times the Johan Cruijff shield, 4 times the Champions league and many more. While led by the world famous Johan Cruijff, AFC Ajax had one of the best seasons ever in 1972 by a professional football team winning the National Championship, the Dutch Cup, the European Champions Cup and the World Cup. Everybody will agree on the fact that being so successful is not only about having a good soccer team. Recently, the Ajax supporters, and of course the rest of the soccer world, were surprised by Johan Cruijff. The supervisory board was in conflict with Johan Cruijff, and this situation was even brought to court since Ajax is not only a football club. Eventually, this led to the resign of the entire board of directors. How is it possible, that such a successful organization as Ajax experiences structural problems? problem definiton What structural problems...

...PSG outlines multi-sport future Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has signalled its intention to create a sporting empire modelled on FC Barcelona and Real Madrid in the latest demonstration of its growing ambition. The Ligue 1 giant on Tuesday announced the relaunch of the city’s handball team, which has existed in various forms since 1941 and has been associated with the club since the 1990s. The move is the initial phase of a bid to develop a multi-sport entity around the PSG brand, and could also see the launch of a basketball club. Barcelona and Real Madrid, along with a host of Europe’s leading clubs, have traditionally employed this model. “The idea is to rapidly create a large multi-sport club to promote the global project of Paris Saint-Germain,” said PSG director general Jean-Claude Blanc, according to Eurosport. “We will not stop at handball even if, for now, there is no specific list or timeframe of sports and deadlines.” The new strategy reflects the latest move by the club’s new owners in an era of great change. Qatar Sports Investment (QSI) in March acquired the remaining 30% stake in PSG in a deal that valued the club at Eur100 million. QSI had originally acquired a 70% stake from US investment firm Colony Capital in June 2011. Following the bitter disappointment of losing out on the 2011-12 Ligue 1 title to Montpellier on the final day of last season, QSI has signalled its intention to make an even stronger challenge at home and in Europe by embarking on a spending...
