...me, I hear a lot of sounds in my whole life. Some of the sounds I hear can make me think back of my childhood’s memories. Summer season almost approach to us. Sound that most reminds me of the summer are related to insect, weather, and natural. Surprisingly enough, insect is the most annoying bugs at night in the summer. They are everywhere, from the grass to the trees. One night in summer day, I was sitting outside in the balcony in the dark and couldn’t see things well because I lit the candles. I heard the “buzz, zee” sound around my ear; I knew some kind of bee around me. I was terrified that night because I would look horrible if I got stung. I immediately blew the candle so the bee couldn’t see me. Lucky me, it flew away after a few minutes. Bumble bees are a big nightmare to me. So every time I see bees, I remember that night. It was a scary night but also a memory in summer. Bumble bees are friendly to some people but it is my enemy. Summer is the season of rain, thunderstorm and lightning. Everyone likes rain because it cleans out all the dirt and pollen from the trees. When I see rain, I remember my six- grade school year in my country. Back then, we wore uniform when we went to school with a white top, blue bottom and a tie. I didn’t know it will rain that day, and I rode a bike to school. When I rode back home, on the way I started to see dark cloud and hear “boom, boom, bang” from thunderstorm, “hu, hu, hu’” from the wind. Also, the moment I started to shiver because...

...The summer season is one of the main seasons of India. It starts from the month of April and lasts up to the end of June. There is intense heat during these months. The sun shines perpendicularly causing numerous difficulties for the people. They want to stay indoors, especially during mid-day. They get tired very soon and feel lethargic. Summer mornings are little bit pleasant and so are the summer evenings. Hence people look busy during these times. They try to finish all their work as quickly as possible because they know that a long hot day is waiting for them. At noon the heat is at its peak. The towns and cities look deserted. There are few people on the road. Sometimes it is too hot to continue the work. Everything is paralysed. People go inside their houses in the darkest room. They drink cold water again and again just to quench their thirst but they never feel satisfied. During summer we eat little food. We do not feel healthy and sometimes develop many complications regarding health. Any irregularity in food-habit leads to sickness. Hot wind called loo' blow throughout the day and many die of heat stroke. The rich people do not have much problem because they have electric fans, coolers and air conditioners. But the poor people have to face hardships. They go on with their work in the open under hot sun. The season is lazy one. People do not feel active and only want to sit under fan in the cold dark room. It is therefore all schools and colleges are...

...smell the smoke from a chimney or fresh baked cookies and it takes me back home. The heat of summer gives you the feeling after baking something when you put your face in front of the oven as you open the door. That blast of hot, dry air sucking all the moisture from your lungs. It has always made me chuckle when I hear people say, “But it is a dry heat”. The summer time also brings the monsoon season toward July and August. Watching the clouds cross the sky like big balls of cotton, you can make out different shapes if you look at them with the open mind of childhood. As the day wares on they begin collecting, growing into to a huge darkening mass. With the inevitable rain creatures from the hairy tarantula scurrying across the roads, to the local rancher’s cattle chewing her cud, all have a sense of the storm and begin looking for shelter. When the rains does come it is fast and furious, many of the creeks filled with fast moving water, carrying whatever debris along with it. Fall is always a latecomer to my corner of New Mexico, but when it does arrive, it comes in with all colors a-blaze. Brown, reds, yellows, russets, and burgundies vie with each other for places of honor in forest and field. A small orchard of apricot and apple trees my parents have always seems to be ablaze like a formation of match sticks. The mornings are crisp; the afternoons warm with a hint of summer past. Fall insects - great big, beautiful butterflies and long-legged, big-eyed grasshoppers...

...You would expect a normal sophomore high school student like me to enjoy the week leading to the 4th of July weekend by lounging in a beach chair, swimming in the ocean, eating funnel cakes on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, or building formidable sand castles. That was not the case for the summer of my sophomore year. In the summer of my sophomore year, I joined eleven other students on a Habitat for Humanity service trip in Wilmington, Delaware as a volunteer to build and repair houses ready for families in need of shelter. I can remember this service trip with much clarity for three reasons: it was the first trip out-of-state without my family, it taught me that hard work for building houses began with determined physical labor, and it changed me as a person....

...There is a dispute that has gone on for years. The dispute concerning whether or not the “Dark Ages” should really be considered the dark ages. The era in question has been considered dark, because it’s been said that it was a period of time where people were unable to make any decisive advancements, in technology, literature, economy, or order. A period of disuse, illiteracy, war, plague, chaos and panic. Estimated to be between the years 410 – the late 1300s. “Of all the factors that affected England, The Tudor Wars, the Hundred Year’s War, and the The Great Famine were the most severe.” The Hundred Years' War was a long struggle between England and France over succession to the French throne. It lasted from 1337 to 1453, so in reality it was a little longer than one hundred years, but one hundred sounds cooler. The war started off with several stunning victories on Britain's part,...

...had to do some research on this film because I never seen the whole thing and it also has been a long time since I saw the parts that I did. I needed to brush up on the film so that I could make sure I knew what I was speaking of. After I had reviewed the research I have done, it turns out that Andy was right about The Dark Knight being the most popular film in the summer of 2008. It turns out that the film was first released in Australia, on July 16, 2008; it was two days later July 18, 2008 that it was released in North America. It wasn’t till July 24, 2008 when it was released in the United Kingdom. With over $1 billion in revenue worldwide and it is the seventh highest- grossing film of all time. I found that he was also correct when he stated that the film was a continuation from Batman Begins. The Dark Knight was filmed in many different places but the main filming took place in Chicago. The other parts took place in several parts of the United States, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong. The Dark Knight is a film about a superhero, which was directed and co- written by Christopher Nolan. The film was also produced by Charles Roven and Emma Thomas. The Dark Knight was based on the DC Comics and is part of Nolan’s Batman film series. Christian Bale played the lead character (Batman/Bruce Wayne). Some other main characters that played in the movie are Heath Ledger (joker), Gary Oldman (James Gorden), Maggie Gyllenhaal (Rachel Dawes) and Aaron Eckhart (Harvey Dent). Each and...

...North America all experienced the most peculiar July afternoon. It had started off a normal enough day: with wives drinking coffee and husbands reading newspapers; young children eating cereal and watching morning cartoons, while teenagers still sleeping in warm beds, with the stale smells of the previous night's party hanging in the air. All was normal and in order and as was to be expected. In the Midwest a farmer looked across his fields, with delight and anticipation. It hadn't rained in a day over a week and he thought to himself, they were due for a storm or at least a small cloud of liquid gold. In the Southwest, the city streets were all covered in a thin layer of dirty sand. The windows of buildings went unwashed throughout the dry summer months. The mayors of the towns long ago deciding not to waste the energy or time to clean off the dirt and sand which returned overnight, settling in the same cracks and surfaces as the previous day. Meteorologist couldn't explain the phenomena of a cross continental rain storm that was so quick moving and unexpected. Most people though, didn't want or need an explanation. For hours after the climax and thunder had ender, when all the streets and houses were clean and the deserts refreshed the rain remained as a thin mist all the way across the plains, fields, mountains, hills, deserts and coasts, catching each bit of light skewing the air into magnificent colors, no matter where the people...

...Steph wrote a while back that she was sad to see summer going. For me, especially the way this summer has gone, I can’t agree. Yes, I’ll definitely miss the Saints games. I’ll miss the nice days, but for me, this is the time of year when I’m looking ahead. I’m getting closer to finishing up the software I’ve been working on all summer long. I may actually even get to take a real vacation in a month or two. Plus, with the advent of cooler evenings, I’m actually able to open the windows at home and avoid the noise of the air-conditioner and fans once in a while. And I’ve got a hope that with cooler weather, a break in the work (at least temporarily), and no Saints games taking up my my evenings, I’ll find more time to get out and ride my trike. And it’s been this way since I started my business. I’ve always tried to take on less work over the summers, but every year but one I’ve been working on a project that was originally supposed to be done in May, and ended up finishing around September. It’s a chronic problem in the software field, but being an outsider on these projects, I wonder why companies don’t bite off smaller chunks so they can let their employees take some time off during the summer when the ankle-biters are home from school, and families want to take vacations. And just for completeness’ sake, I should note that the one summer I had off, I was working on a project that was running late, and when hit with completely unreasonable demands on my time in May, I left...

...Spring time and warm Autumn.. If we look to Rainfall diagram we can see that in Belfast raining every moth, most rain falls in July, so we can say it’s constantly raining. We can see in Belfast most of the time is cloudy, just in June and July it’s sunny, but rest of the months is cloudy. Second city Mexico, like we can see Mexico doesn’t have winter or Autumn ,as it is warm all year round, coldest temperature is in December which is +8 and anyway it’s quit warm if we compare with coldest Belfast temperature. Warmest temperature is +27 in May, so it’s really warm comparing with warmest Belfast temperature. In Mexico rains falls not all year round like in Belfast, it’s not raining at all or very little from December until April, but in Summer months June, July and August raining a lot., if we compare with Belfast it’s none month in the year in Belfast without rain. Another big difference between Belfast and Mexico is sun. In Mexico it’s lot of sun nearly every month in the year and just few months of Cloud and rain, which in Belfast it is cloudy most...

...My Ideal Summer Vacation A warm and sunny afternoon last day, I was in a deep thought. I was thinking, if I would be given a chance to have a summer vacation without worrying about the expenses, maybe it could be my ideal one. This thought triggered me to ask myself, “What would be my ideal summer vacation looks like?” To start my visualization, I would like to spend it in a place afar from the noisy streets of the city. A place where the only sounds I can hear are the chirping of the birds, the waves crashing on the shore and the laughter of my family. In that place, the trees are dancing gracefully and flowers are waving gently with the wind. In the distance, the shore is filled with sand so white, crystal clear water and with porpoises on the sea side. On the top of the hill resides our home, a small bungalow type but filled with so much contentment and joy. Inside of it are simple things to suffice our needs. Upon entering the entrance door, you will see the clean and tidy living room, with a window on the right that offers a beautiful sight of the blue ocean. Beside our home, there stood a tall and old narra tree that gives us shade during the day. Flowers of different kinds and varieties grows around the yard abundantly. Then, I can see the endless sky above with shiny shimmering stars blinking at night and in the water, it seems the unreachable stars are within my grasp. In a distance, I can see the fire keeps burning from the bonfire we have made, and beside it,...

...In the article As the West Goes Dry, Service uses melting snow on the West and Northwest mountains to exemplify the effects of global warming. The western side of the country uses snow packs from the mountains for its reservoirs during the spring and summer months. 75% of water in Western streams is attributed to melted snow. Even with only a slight increase in temperature overtime (0.8’C), the snow packs have decreased significantly and the summertime flow of water from the melted snowpack is expected to be 20-50% less this year. Some climatologists believe these increases in temperature can be explained by the warming and cooling trends in the 1900s, where temperature increased during 1920s-1940s and decreased during 1950s-1960s, however that trend theory does not explain the largest loses of snowpack are at the lowest elevations. Even if we are currently in a warming trend, temperatures are only predicted to increase further and faster, leaving us with the same issues. The decrease in snow packs will impact where the limited water will be dispersed in the warmer months. This will especially affect farmers and agriculture. It will also increase the risk for natural disasters such as forest fires. The author offers unbiased information for the reader on the current melting snow in the West, why it is increasing, and what the potential outcomes could be. Service uses multiple academic sources, including reputable climatologists who oppose Service's explanation to further delve...

...traditional calendar is divided into nine months of instruction and three of vacation during the summer. Year-round calendars break these long instructional/ vacation blocks into a pattern of sixty days of instruction followed by twenty days of vacation.” (CA Dept of Education). Students who receive more frequent breaks don't receive a customary ten to twelve-week summer break. Removing any kind of long break from school can enhance a child’s educational accomplishment. Long summers are known for "summer slide," or the decay of cerebral abilities and loss of information throughout the longer break. Summer-slide is different across grade levels, subject matter and family income, according to the National Summer Learning Association. However, it still affects all children in some way. If a student does not have a long break, it helps prevent summer learning loss. Summer learning loss is a significant issue for children. All children – rich or poor - experience a slide in math over the summer. The slide is different for everyone. Despite the fact that it may appear fun, an extended summer break can frequently prompt weariness. Year-round school wipes out the need to fill the twelve weeks of summer break with exercises to keep children intrigued and locked in. If the summer break is not organized, then it seems too long. Great deals of children don’t have enough to do in the summer. However with the pros, come the cons? The most evident disadvantage of year-round school is the...
