...Affordable Care Act Terrence Brownlee HCA/210 03/13/2011 Debra McKinney Affordable Care Act This paper will provide the changes that the Affordable Care Act put in place when they will take effect. It will contain information how the new law will improve the delivery of health care. This paper will explain two problems that might result when this law if fully in effect. This paper will contain the three changes I would recommend with the goal of decreasing the cost of health care while maintaining or improving the quality of care, and where the money would come from. This paper will discuss the parts of the act that I would keep in place. I will explain the problems that are not addressed by the Affordable Care Act that I think need to be addressed. This paper will contain who will benefit most from this new law and who will not be benefited by the new law. Finally this paper will discuss who will be disadvantaged or negatively impacted by this new law. Some of the changes that the Affordable Care Act has put in place already are a Retiree Reinsurance Program, pre-existing condition insurance plan, consumer protection and patient’s bill of rights, cut down on premium increases, and small businesses claim small business tax credit. The Retiree Reinsurance Program...

...he was boarding his rocket and taking off, and we can see that this old astronaut coming alive again through this brief taste of speed while David Bowie’s “Starman “ plays at the background.. The target audience of ad is totally wealthy person who is probably mid of his age, and this advertisement is totally made up for only man. The advertisement targets only 1 -2 % of car owners but in an effective way. The advertisements is affective and little bit functional. Because when we consider the recent death of David Bowie. The scene and the song perfectly match each other. But there’s a real melancholy that comes from watching a man whose best day passed by, and he feel and remember his young year because of a car. It is a heart warming advertisement. Audi use very American values , such as America is the nation who landed on the moon first. At the end of the advertisements, a motto, a slogan appears on the last scene “ Choosing the moon brings out the best in US “ . There is also an hidden emphasize about the speed of the car. Showing a rocket and going Audi car at the same time means Audi R8 V10 is fast as rocket. Sum up , I believe that Audi did a great job with commercial, which is heart warming, very emotional advertisement which make a connection with his audience personally. Especially when we consider recent death of David Bowie , it was a great touch upon a legend too , which refer to an old time but good...

...“When we quit thinking primarily about ourselves and our own self-preservation, we undergo a truly heroic transformation of consciousness” (Campbell Online). A hero is a person who doesn’t help others for self-recognition. Rather, a hero is someone who risks their own wellness for the welfare of others. First off, there are many types of heroes and they come in many shapes and sizes, but they all have one thing in common, they sacrifice and don't expect anything in return. “I think we all do heroic things, but hero is not a noun, it’s a verb” (Downey Jr. Online). You have to do something in order to be considered a hero. Whether it's risking your life for your country or even giving up a few minutes of your day to save a cat stuck in a tree,...

...There are those in life who conquer the impossible and open the doors that have not yet been open; they go by the name “hero”. Heroes are, to put it simply, people who put others first and their own needs last. They are well-known for working hard, well after everyone has given up hope. Though it may seem like an impossible task at first, anyone can live up to the title of a hero. It is necessary to remember that heroes come in many shapes and sizes and don’t necessarily have to be affluent. However, what they do need is a personality that is able to influence others. Whether these heroes are real or merely just the work of one’s creative mind, living or passed, they somehow manage to make an impact on humanity. Although becoming a hero is generally affiliated with uniqueness, it does not go to say that all heroes are meant to be unlike. In fact, the majority share many attributes. Perseus, son of Danae and Zeus, and Odysseus, son of Laertes and Anticlea, are similar by displaying the traits of determination and cleverness. First, Perseus and Odysseus are alike because they display the virtue of determination. Perseus’s determination is visible when he boldly undertakes Polydectes’s quest to save his mother Danae from hostage. Although Perseus knows of the difficulties associated with the quest of killing Medusa, the Gorgon whose stare turns anyone to stone, he still persists. He is not afraid of the female monster and successfully accomplishes the quest thus disproving the majority...

...A hero in today’s society doesn't have to have extraordinary super powers to be considered a “hero”. Just like all things, a hero comes in all shapes and sizes. Heros can range from a firefighter to a homicide detective, or even a random citizen helping the elderly with their groceries. Being a hero isnt about being the strongest or getting the girl, its about helping the less fortunate. Heroic traits include: reliability, adaptability, and leadership. In Marvel’s The Avengers, Captain America, although a fictional character, he is portrayed with traits of everyday heros such as reliability. One of the ways he is extremely reliable is because no matter how hard the situation gets, when push comes to shove, he is always there to help...

...Martina Brooks Cole Art 1 24 October 2014 Is Fame Really Worth It All? When it comes to the life of an artist, or anyone famous for that matter, it is almost always a daily struggle for them trying to fight with what comes with that fame. The main reason is the thought of always having to live up to high expectations from their fans and the people they work with. Once they have a certain signature, they are always expected to reciprocate that and are ostracized when they don’t give it. Because of that, they either go to a means of substance abuse to momentarily get away from it all, or they just give up. In Jean-Michel Basquiat’s case, he did both. An artist’s major fault, I believe, is forgetting who they are and where they came from once they reach that fame stage; sometimes they want to win it all, and that is what ultimately ruins their life. Winning is not worth any price at all, because you could end up losing everything you worked so hard for in the beginning. Friendships, relationships, family; all of that can be gone in an instant and you believe that what you gained as an outcome is far better than what you had before. Personally, I would never choose fame over my friends or family because fame is momentarily, but friends are almost forever. If I ever did become famous off of something I’m great at doing, I wouldn’t become someone I wouldn’t like myself. I would stay humble just because of the fact that I came from humble beginnings, just like Basquiat did....

...In today’s time, speaking out for oneself and others is difficult for many citizens. Many groups of people only see a a hero as Batman or Superman. However, heroes that are not seen as commonly are also important in todays society. A hero can be defined as a person who courageously speaks out at the risk of rejection more than a person who braves physical danger. William Lloyd Garrison, the abolitionist during the civil war, exemplifies heroic traits by sticking up for the African Americans during the late 1800’s. Lloyd is a hero to many, even without facing physical danger. Despite the risk of rejection from the whole country, Lloyd wrote the newspaper “The Liberator”. In this newspaper he wrote abolitionist and suffragist views to demand the rights to set the slaves free. During this time, Lloyd’s views of slavery were uncommon and resulted in many problems in Lloyd’s life. In 1832 Lloyd organized the New England Anti-Slavery Society. Lloyd also was a prominent activist for the woman suffrage movement. Although Lloyd received many death threats from the Confederate, he still dauntlessly advocated for the freedom of the slaves. With the help of Lloyd’s heroic acts, the abolishment of slavery arouse. Clark Griffin, from the book The 100, can be defined as a hero by speaking out to the Arch for the freedom of the population. Although at the risk of being killed for rebelling against the Arch, the teenager Clark Griffin uprises to Chancellor Jafa to let the people...

... When the word “hero” is spoken upon, a connection is typically made with the word “super,” and the thought of characters flying around saving lives in some way, shape, or form arises. Heroes define not always as classic fictional characters such as Superman or Batman; heroes are people who stand for the common good, who make selfless sacrifices for a public cause. Selflessness means having little to no concern for oneself, to give to others without looking for personal gain. An exact science to what makes someone a hero lacks presence- instructions on how to attain the position of a hero do not exist. However, performing acts of goodness with no intent of personal gain can qualify someone as a hero. A person qualifies a hero when they performed a service to others in need, voluntarily, while making sacrifices, without expectation of reward. The Soldier- A soldier is a person who serves in the army. Soldiers sacrifice their life day by day for the people of their country. They sacrifice their life and their time and their ability to live safely in their country and being able to make their own choices and being able to sleep in a nice bed at night. Kyle Carpenter exhibits the status of the youngest living soldier to ever receive the Medal of Honour. While on a tour of Afghanistan on November of 2010, Carpenter shielded a hand grenade from demolishing a friend, aimed towards the rooftop they were occupied. Carpenter lost most of his teeth, his right eye, shattered his jaw, and...

... “I think a hero is any person really intent on making this a better place for all people”(Angleou Online). A hero does not have to be some strong or supernatural human being. A hero is someone who does something from the heart or for the common good without needing recognition for doing so. When people think of heroes they automatically think Superman, Batman, and/or Spiderman. But, do people think about the hidden heroes? Such as, parents, teachers, and normal people. To illustrate,” So there you go- heroes are everyday, common people. Most of what they do goes unheralded, unappreciated. And that ironically, is heroism: not to be recognized.”(Stone 64) Heroes are not always big name, hot shot people they can be people we don’t think of, the most unlikely of people, a teenager that wants to help people, wants to finish school, and through all the drama at school still has an open relationship with his/hers parents. Someone who helps out daily without representation or without getting paid, like a volunteer or a parent. Volunteers help out everyday whether it’s at a homeless shelter, at school, or at work they still make someone's day. For instance, “No act of kindness is ever wasted”(Aesop online). They take a weight off of someone's shoulder which makes that person’s day so much better. Then there is parents whether they work or not who help their children every single day. They may not know it but they are heroes to them everyday. Cleaning the house, cooking three meals...

...Many Israelites feared the Philistine giant, Goliath. The Israelites were desperate to kill the Philistine in order to be guaranteed safety. David did the unthinkable and “approached the Philistine” (The Story). Goliath was powerful due to his height and size so it was hard for the Israelites to fight against him. David whom is of smaller size, shape ,and has less experience "struck the Philistine [and killed him]” (The Story). A hero such as David protects others from evil and showed bravery and leadership in the face of danger. The story of Ana connects to David's story because they both show fearlessness and absolute no sign of weakness. Ana, is a mother with cancer, who continuously sets a model for her kids. She shows that there's more to life than to break down to the overwhelming challenges that may occur in their lives. David and Ana Face beyond unimaginable roadblocks, and overcame the challenges without hesitation. Their actions are out of love for their families/communities. Such as being brave through the pain, that even when it hurts Ana “still was going [on] strong” (An Everyday Hero). They both did not let anything such as cancer, or the giant’s size slow them down from achieving their...

...Heroic Career Essay [Header spacing is correct in the Google Docs] “In the end we’re all alone, and no one is coming to save you” (Depaul, Nolan, 2011). Heroes, tend to be people who are remembered long after they are gone because of a deed or deeds they did throughout life. Regular civilians in ordinary jobs tend to not have as fortunate of a fate though. Real people might have touched others lives in ways that will be long forgotten, say MLB managers for example. It is a tough position to get into, as most managers are former players (“BR Bullpen,” 2014). Unfortunately though, hardly any managers are remembered after they are done managing. Their average salary is half that of the average player they manage, so they hardly get any recognition in that respect either (Boyd, 2017; “The Average,” 2015). The nail in the coffin, is that a Manager of the Year trophy has only been given out since 1983 (“Manager of the Year,” 2017). Conversely, the league has awarded batters and pitchers for their performances since 1931 at the earliest (“Cy Young,” 2017; “Most Valuable Player,” 2017). A baseball manager is not your conventional hero, but they leave their mark on the people they help, the baseball culture they champion, and their demeanour. Ultimately almost all heroes help people in the hero’s journey. In Beowulf, Beowulf helped the entire city he saved from the sinew of the Grendel family. This left such a mark on Hrothgar that after Grendel was defeated, he bestowed the crown...
