...FINDER I love the idea of using the Greek word for Finder as the main character’s name… maybe that could even work into the title? The headlines are talking. They say that there are only an estimated 6000 Followers left worldwide and about 10 percent of them may be found in North America. China claims to have wiped them out altogether, while India believes that they can be rehabilitated. Those headlines were from two days ago blaring through my Blue Tooth and YAHWEH alone knows how many of us are left. But after 80 - 100 years of persecution, since the Government’s war on the Followers, we’ve learned how to hide in plain sight. It takes a lot more money living in The Cities than in the communes where I was raised. But after they found our camp, about forty people strong, maybe 34 of us all told were BORNAGAINSAVED. The others were people we’d find on the road hungry, alone, broken; designated appointments from YAHWEH – well after they found our camp . . . well, I’ve been living in cities since then. They called us something else then, but the name has been lost. Now they just call us walking dead or religious trash. Either way it’s all the same. If they catch us, then it’s the Big Show: no ifs, ands, or but’s. Even on the news feeds, we’re “they,” or “suspects,” or “fanatics” and never our names. We’re the nameless ones. That’s how we can tell true Followers from the government plants they keep sending us. You can tell by the scars we carry. Many of us grow our hairs...

Signature _______ Date _______ Abstract On our research we focused on the selection of groups of people who will be most receptive to a product. The most common method of segmenting includes demographic variables such as age, race, sex, income, occupation, education, geographic location, household status etc. Much of the segmentation will involve a combination of these variables and no matter how the segments are defined they are characterized by considerable change over time. The main purpose of segmenting a market is to allow a market or sales program to focus on the prospects that are most likely to purchase the products or services on offer. If it is done properly it ensures that the best return for the marketing expense is outlaid. There are definite differences and these depend on whether you...

...The Walmart Journey: Walmart’s trucking Division Scale and Operation: Wal-Mart was founded on Sam Walton’s principle and ideals to bring products to the consumers in a way that mean they could offer their products to the consumers for cheaper than other retailers. This led to them creating a retail giant over the next forty years. In the early 1970’s Wal-Mart became the one of the first companies to use a centralized distribution center for their stores. When they started this practice they knew they would need a trucking fleet for years to come and made the decision to own their own private fleet. Along with great success comes turmoil and hard times. Wal-Mart’s came in the early 2000’s when there was a lot of public criticism about their business practices which included being sexist, strong-arming the little guys, and not having fair working conditions for their workers who were not allowed to join or create a union. There was also a growing movement within corporations around the world towards going green and having more sustainable business practices. On this note Lee Scott offered his famous speech in 2005 to the consumers, investors, and people around the world. His speech “21st Century Leadership” he laid out a three part plan for becoming a prominent player in sustainable business. These three parts included being supplied by 100% renewable energy, creating zero waste, and selling sustainable products in their stores. Currently, Wal-Mart owns a private trucking...

...Do Work: Be The Best you can be everyone in this room has the potential for greatness. Whether or not one chooses to unlock that potential is up to them. Anyone can tell you to “do your best” or “reach for the stars”, but just being told to do something doesn’t necessarily mean that you are going to do it. Eventually it always comes down to the doer, not the teller. Its easy to be sarcastic about striving for success... saying the effort will not be worth the reward is a lazy cop out. A society like ours that requires near-instant gratification for all actions makes it very easy for someone to just take the easy way out, because many don’t realize that work, over a long period time produces RESULTS. No one ever got anywhere by sitting in their parents basement, playing video games, and burying themselves under bags of chips and mountain dew cans. The most successful people in the world didn’t get that way over night. They got there by putting their nose to the grindstone for years, until the effort paid off. The phrase, “money doesn’t buy happiness” isn’t quite as accurate as it might have been, even 10 years ago. It may be insensitive, but it’s true, happiness, to at least some degree, requires a little bit of cash... and the most surefire way to make sure you have that cash is good, old fashioned, hard work... Sure there are a few people in the world who have achieved success, seemingly out of nowhere, but I guarantee that in 15 years, if you ask...

...Kevin Collins English 105 Argumentative Analysis October 26th 2010 In 1962 Sam Walton grew tired of grocery shopping. Once Sam retired from the military life, he settled down with his wife Helen Robson, and decided to develop his own store. After several attempts, his father-in-law granted him the 20,000 dollars he needed to develop his first store, a Ben Franklin franchise variety store near his home in Arkansas. His idea was to provide a vast array of products for his customers, while keeping the prices low to out compete the neighboring stores. His unique low priced strategies allowed him to boost sales and negotiate lower prices with his wholesalers. Once Walton’s retail operation started to take off, he decided to change the name to Walmart, by the use of his last name. He then established more than 9,600 factories, stores, and warehouses (Sam’s Club), throughout the United States, Asia, Mexico, Europe, and South America. Walmart has low prices, friendly workers, and many locations, but protesters will argue that the gender discrimination, harsh impact on the surrounding communities, and low wages, outweigh the benefits to Walmart. We thought gender discrimination ended with the ratification of the 19th amendment, but according to Wake-up Wal-mart.com, several cases have been recorded in the Walmart workplace. For example, in 2001, studies proved that for the same job classification, even after taking into account factors such as seniority and performance...

...or her normal realm these values are tested. One’s individual core values may change to adapt to other settings based on societal changes, financial status and education. As one enters the workforce the values of the organization must then be evaluated. Do the values of the organization measure up to the individual’s values? Does the culture of the business cause one to go against the principles of which he or she lives by? Team C has chosen to evaluate the values of Sam Walton, the founder of Wal-Mart, to the values incorporated in this company and its organizational plan to find whether or not the values are in alignment. Origin and Subsequent The origins and subsequent evolution of personal and workplace values within Wal-Mart are truly important to the structure of this organization. Wal-Mart has developed there business structure back in 1962 on these three basic beliefs: respect the individual, service the customer and strive for excellence. Although Wal-Mart as whole is a highly successful company, they still have problems like every other company. Through Wal-Mart’s history they’ve encountered many obstacles and complications on the way to the top. Most of these problems have found a solution but Wal-Mart still has major and minor problems. Whether new problems or past ones still lingering, either way with a problem you must have solution. Especially with a multi-billionaire company such as Wal-Mart you want to be as efficient and eradicated of as much problems as you possibly can. Chrisp, Courtney; Richardson, Maria E.; & White, Sherri Leadership & Org Behavior GM591 Professor: Robert Churilla mariae.richardson@yahoo.com DeVry/Keller University Online 02/17/2013 Introduction Wal-Mart Stores Inc., founded by Sam Walton in 1962, is one of America largest discount department stores. Wal-Mart’s primary mission is to bring consumers high quality goods at a low, discounted price. Wal-Mart operates more than 8,692 retail units across three business segments of retail worldwide that offer a wide array of general merchandise, including groceries, apparel, electronics, and small appliances. Out of his beliefs he chose the three strongest which he felt best suited his store: respect...

...Bravery Odysseus was a virtuous and heroic leader. He and many other characters showed many acts of bravery. The bravery that Odysseus possessed was extraordinary and could have changed the story line completely if he didn’t use it as often then the story may have developed different. Odysseus’ bravery was tested in many adventures that he endured throughout the novel. This will be proven in many ways throughout the essay. Some examples of people that also showed bravery are Penelope, the herders, Tele, the suitors and even Ody’s crew. But the basic point im throwing across is that if no one had shown the bravery that they didn’t the story line could have completely gone in to a different direction. Some of the smaller characters that showed bravery every once and a while were Penelope, the herders, the suitors, and Ody’s crew. But the played a big part in the development of the story using the character trait bravery. An example of this is when Ody’s crew helped Ody using this trait. One example of this is when they were trapped in the Cyclopes’s Cave and they helped Ody build a giant six-foot long spear made out of a tree and then they helped him thrust it into the Cyclopes’s eye while he was sleeping. This was an example of bravery because they did this because they didn’t want to be eaten by the Cyclopes so they attacked him and succeeded. Not only if they hadn’t have done this then the story may have developed differently...
