The Constitution of the United States clearly states that all persons born in in the United States are citizens and entitled to due process and equal treatment under the law. However, for both African Americans and Native Americans in the post-Civil War era this proved to be an elusive goal. In this paper you are to explain how and why these groups were denied their rights. Make sure that you include specific examples from the sources listed above.
