Leadership is more than just a position of authority. Leadership is about influence and the talent and capabilities of an individual. Distributed leadership focuses more on the practice of leadership. This concept is not associated with designated leadership roles or responsibilities. Distributed leadership focuses on opportunities for change and advancement. In any event, that’s always the most important thing. In this case, leadership roles and years of experience are insignificant. Expertise, confidence, resilience, and many other key characteristics are what is most significant.
Leadership, especially effective leadership, has so many key themes associated with it. Confidence is a key factor of leadership. A leader must have a certain …show more content…
According to Covey (2006), there are four cores of credibility: integrity, intent, capabilities, and results. Integrity involves being honest and essentially, practicing what you preach. Intent deals with your agenda. Followers have to be aware of their leaders motives at all times. In order to be credible, a leader has to be capable. This core deals with a leader’s attitude, skill, knowledge, and style. These characteristics are a means to produce results. Results refer to the track record and performance of a leader. Followers must know that their leader believes in the notion WE not ME. Although there is a leader, everyone should feel as though they have a voice. The group should feel like a team. It should feel like a democracy. The idea of WE puts not only the cause, but the team first. This promotes high morale and positivity amongst the group. It highlights the efforts of other which promotes productivity. Leaders must understand that adopting the WE mentality will have an overall greater impact.

Resilience
Resilience is a multidimensional, research based construct that offers a powerful set of tools to help school leaders grow stronger from adversity (Patterson & Kelleher, 2005, p.1)
Three dimensions form a comprehensive resilience framework: the interpretation of current adversity and future possibility, the resilience capacity to tackle adversity, and the actions needed to become more resilient in the face of the adversity. (p.3)
Trust
Trust enriches relationships, fostering cooperation, creativity, and commitment. (p.89)
People express trust, or mistrust, through three elements of behaviors: information, influence and control. Leaders communicate trust by how they disclose information, share influence, and exercise control.
