...COMPETENCIES BETWEEN NURSES PREPARED AT ASSOCIATE DEGREE LEVEL VS BACCALAURATE LEVEL. The development in research and advancement in technology demands highly qualified individuals in many professions especially in the health care industry There are three ways to become an RN such as a nursing diploma program offered by hospitals. 2 -year associate degree usually offered at community colleges and a 4 year baccalaureate in nursing offered at colleges and universities. After World war II, demand for nurses grew dramatically in United States to meet the severity of the shortage. The faculty was forced to develop new entry level nursing program to prepare nurse technicians in a two year associate degree. (Creasia, 2011). In this paper, we are going to discuss the differences in competencies between a nurse who holds an associate degree versus a baccalaureate degree. Education differences between associate and baccalaureate degree nursing In addition to all the course work taught in associate degree nursing, BSN nurses are taught more "in depth treatment of physical and social sciences, nursing, research, public health, community health, nursing management and humanities" (Rosseter , 2013). These additional courses make a BSN nurse to grow in their profession, and to better understand cultural, political ,economic and social issues that affect patient and influence healthcare. So these different level graduate nurses perform from the same platform, so the question...

...[Introduction] Since a very long time, many researches are being done to observe the organizational behaviour, all having a more or less common motto – “Optimization of performance”. Effectiveness and efficiency are the most important factors to determine the company’s performance. In present day views, the fit between the technology and structure has become the focus of the discussion where as earlier theories used to have a different focal point. This study is more about regularizing the analysis level to each organization and measurement of contingency relationship between technology and structure. Studies which considered large units led to more enigma than studies which considered smaller sub-units. The research paper concentrates on highlighting the link between technology and structure; and how they can be utilized to improve the performance of an organization. The central disagreement revolves around the theory that instead of technology or structure or technology and structure, a fit between both the structure and technology is a better measurement of performance. One of authors Judith W.Alexander served as an assistant professor in college of nursing, University of South Carolina, the other author W. Alan Randolph is a professor of International business and leadership. They present the argument that performance can be better studied in sub-units than in large units(organization), considering the fact the factors influencing the performance would affect...

...prepared at the associate-degree level versus the baccalaureate-degree level. Patient Care Scenario Barbara Doherty Grand Canyon University: NRS-430-O102 September 21, 2014 Differences in competencies between nurses prepared at the associate-degree level versus the baccalaureate-degree level. Patient Care Scenario “BSN- prepared nurse have a positive impact on lowering mortality rate.” (Tourangeau et. al. , 2007 p.6). As the health care industry is constantly evolving at a fast pace, education is with no doubt one of the most influential aspect that nurses have to conquer to be able to give the best patient care. This paper will argue with solid evidence-based research the differences in educational preparation between a Baccalaureate degree nurse, BSN, and an associate degree nurse, ADN. Different approaches in decision making and patient care will be explained, using a clinical situation, amongst a BSN nurse and ADN nurse showing that BSN nurses make better decisions concerning patient care. Associate Degree Nursing and Baccalaureate Degree Nursing There are three possibilities to become a registered nurse and those are: a 3- year diploma, a 3-year associate degree, which is the equivalent of an ADN degree, and a 4-year baccalaureate degree which is the equivalent of a BSN degree. The ADN program was created by Mildred Montag due to scarcity on nurses. Mildred created a new type of nurse as she explained it in her doctoral thesis, Education of Nursing Technicians...

...BSN Versus ADN Veronica Suarez Grand Canyon University: NRS-430V March 6, 2015 High demands of nursing and more nursing schools existing are creating more competition for job opportunities that has evolved into hospitals raising the bar on nurses’ knowledge. Living here in Miami makes job searching a difficult task unless if you know someone who knows someone or you have all of the qualifications for the job which lately it’s including have a BSN, as opposed to many years ago where having an associates degree was sufficient. The hospital I just got hired at to do an emergency department residency program is not a magnet hospital but due to healthcare foundations and the hospital itself trying to become a magnet hospital they required me to either have my bachelors degree or at least be enrolled in one. I understand and respect this approach of the hospital because I do know that nurses with a BSN bring more to the hospital practice setting in the sense of their prized critical thinking skills, health promotion, and leadership skills. For example, being in the ER and having a patient that has been admitted with a possible ischemic stroke requires fast critical thinking skills in assessing the patient and following the hospitals protocols for this type of patient such as conducting a CAT scan and drawing labs to be able to diagnose if the patient is having a stroke or not so if need be give Activase as soon as possible since time...
