Preparing for meetings

Communicating in a culturally appropriate way means finding a way to communicate effectively that also respects and accepts cultural differences. In order to make sure our communication, both written and spoken, is culturally appropriate, we need to recognize and understand and work effectively within the influence of each other’s culture. While working in a team, we will have to deal with people with different cultures and the value systems between cultures are likely to be different and hence we need to be respectful of cultural practices, attitudes and beliefs.

When preparing for meetings, ensure to list the tasks, chose attendees, plan a clearly articulated agenda, and keep the attendees informed well in advance. This needs planning and clear and concise communication keeping the appropriate code into consideration. List the priority of items to be discussed with time limit set for each topic to make sure that all topics on the agenda are discussed with successful outcomes. While planning a meeting, we need to make sure all the attendees are consulted and their opinions considered irrespective of their individualistic cultures. We need to make sure all the attendees receive the same information. Likewise, the agenda needs to be communicated in a clear and concise manner which is not offensive to any of the attendees. Since the meeting might include individuals from different cultures, it is appropriate to take initiative and talk to people, find out about their values and beliefs, so that we can be sensitive in deciding our mode of communication during the meeting. We need to pay particular attention to accommodating all

...Audience Analysis Effective communication in the business world must be mastered in order to strive in a competitive market. XYZ Companies has called an in-person meeting with a group of stakeholders including managers, salespeople, and customers to address quarterly sales. In order to communicate effectively with the group, an audience analysis must be done to capture the audience’s attention. This paper is intended to analyze the audience’s characteristics, communication channels and various ways to deliver an effective message. The speaker must be able to realize the quarterly sales report may mean different things to different groups in the audience. A speaker must make preparations when dealing with a diversity filled audience (Locker, Kienzler, 2008). When dealing with a vast number of people a speaker must be willing to do his or her research to better understand the audience and the needs to the group. The speaker must also be able to maintain control of the audience. Knowing what each member of the audience...

Organization within those meetings is crucial to how well they run and how productive they are. There are a few approaches to getting meetings or group sessions to run smoothly. One approach focuses on getting the most out of the collaborative power of the group participants. This paper will address that method referred to as Mining Group Gold. Managing Workplace Relationship, Conflict and Negotiation Skills Include Effective Communication

...Main Topic: Managing Workplace relationship, conflict and negotiation skills include effective communication. Building relationships within the workplace According to Harbour S. (2015) establishing and maintaining good working relationships is the key to a positive workplace. Effective businesses encourage the development of positive relationships between managers and employees as well as amongst coworkers. It is imperative to create a clear and concise company mission statement and distribute a copy of the statement to each employee, so that they can be clear on exactly what is expected of them and the intended goal of the business they represent. Teamwork should be encouraged through formal and informal team-building activities. Management could always arrange a company-oriented outing, such as fun days consisting of activities such as tug a war or cricket, or involve the office in a team-based charitable activity. Good relationships in the workplace thrive when individuals feel part of a team and comfortable with their teammates.  The need for two way communication should be encouraged, as this would boost staff morale. The better and more effectively persons communicate with those around them, the richer the work relationships will be. All good relationships depend on open, honest communication. Managers should always reward great work as quickly as possible, and address problems or concerns immediately. Acknowledge staff members publicly with written or...
