...Resistance of Nurses in Use of Electronic Documentation The field of health information technology for nursing is rapidly growing. Advancements in electronic documentation for health care, such as the electronic medical record (EMR), can be an overwhelming addition to the workload of nurses. There is resistance by nurses in use of electronic documentation (Sharifian, Askarian, Nematolahi, & Farhadi, 2014). It is this writer’s opinion that nurses are under informed regarding the rationale for changes taking place in documentation and the implications. The purpose of this paper is to provide nurses with the basics of the Federal regulations outlined in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act of 2009 (HITECH) that require electronic documentation to be compliant and receive reimbursement. It also reviews how data are collected to determine the reimbursement for care (meaningful-use) and its role in evidence-based practice (Wright, Feblowitz, Samal, McCoy, & Sittig, 2014). Included is a review of the negative impact resistance generates on health organization reimbursement and the relevance it has on nurse staffing, jobs, wages, and satisfaction, along with, evidence reinforcing the training and support of nurses as a means to promote proper use of electronic documentation and increase user satisfaction. Federal Laws and Requirements for Compliance Health care...

...Changing Paper Documentation to Electronic in Healthcare Name Institution Date Introduction Changing from paper documentation to electronic documentation is just like switching from analog to digital television. Rigidity in institutions may prevail but at the end all the institutions conform to one documentation method the electronic documentation. An electronic document is any media content other than computer system files or programs used in either soft copy form or paper as a print out (Yu, 2006). With technological advancement, the use of written documents has reduced because it has become easier to distribute and display documents in screens (AWARE, 2005). The method has an impact on reducing paperwork and space for storage of these materials. Documentation of activities involving purchases, sales, distribution, drug administration, patient health record, finance and other relevant activities of any organization is a primary issue in maintaining efficiency in operations (AHIMA, 2010). The use of paper documentation is somehow a far behind the method and rather tedious and inefficient. A more reliable and efficient way of keeping health records is thus a necessary change that may help reduce the demerits associated with the paper documentation method. Technologically advancement has brought with it more efficient and easy way to record and maintain a company or organization’s documents (AWARE, 2005). Changing from paper to electronic file documentation is thus a primary...

...SISTEMAS DE INFORMACION CALCULATING DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT COSTS 1. How should SSC prepare for a DMS if they decide to implement one? The Data Management Systems transforms the organization operations in many areas. The first one is cost reductions such as: reduced labor hours, reduced employees, reduced operational costs, warehouse costs and paper costs. Significantly reduced the inefficiencies and misplaced of paper workflows. According to Turban & Volonino (2011): “DMS can help a business to become more efficient and productive by the: enabling the company to access and use the content contained in the documents, reducing the time and effort required to locate information the business needs to support decision making, improving the security of the content and thereby reducing the risk of intellectual property theft.” (p.68) The DMS transformed the way that businesses operate, a part of the cost reduction can work more efficiently simply by accessing a database and avoid losing information as often happens in the papers. Spring Street Company should implement the DMS system. If the company decided to implement the major first step is figure out the workflows and processes to make that system meet its potential, and maximize its adoption. Also entered most of the old data and new data will be entered electronically. SSC will continue using paper but less than before the implement the new system. Document Management System ensures that the company will be...

...Not to be confused with Reamde, a novel by Neal Stephenson. The README file for cURL A readme (or read me) file contains information about other files in a directory or archive and is commonly distributed with computer software, forming part of its documentation. Such a file is usually a text file called README.TXT, README.md, README.1ST, READ.ME, or simply README, although some software may occasionally include a README.WRI, README.RTF, or README.DOC. The name is chosen so that users unaware of the existence of this type of file would be drawn to read it. README is traditionally written in upper case, so that on case-preserving environments that display files in an ASCIIbetical ordering by default, such as the ls command in Linux, the name will appear near the beginning of a directory listing (since upper-case letters sort before lower-case letters in ASCIIbetical ordering). Contents The contents typically include one or more of the following: Configuration instructions Installation instructions Operating instructions A file manifest (list of files included) Copyright and licensing information Contact information for the distributor or programmer Known bugs[1] Troubleshooting[1] Credits and acknowledgments A changelog (usually for programmers) A news section (usually for users) The expression "readme file" is also sometimes used descriptively and generically, whereby the files are not named "readme", but are considered types of readme files. The source code distributions...

...10 Grammar Mistakes That Make You Look Stupid Version 1.0 May 23, 2005 These days, we tend to communicate via the keyboard as much as we do verbally. Often, we're in a hurry, quickly dashing off e-mails with typos, grammatical shortcuts (I'm being kind here), and that breezy, e.e. cummings, no-caps look. It's expected. It's no big deal. But other times, we try to invest a little care, avoiding mistakes so that there's no confusion about what we're saying and so that we look professional and reasonably bright. In general, we can slip up in a verbal conversation and get away with it. A colleague may be thinking, Did she just say "irregardless"?, but the words flow on, and our worst transgressions are carried away and with luck, forgotten. That's not the case with written communications. When we commit a grammatical crime in e-mails, discussion posts, reports, memos, and other professional documents, there's no going back. We've just officially gone on record as being careless or clueless. And here's the worst thing. It's not necessary to be an editor or a language whiz or a spelling bee triathlete to spot such mistakes. They have a way of doing a little wiggle dance on the screen and then reaching out to grab the reader by the throat. So here we are in the era of Word's red-underline "wrong spelling, dumb ass" feature and Outlook's Always Check Spelling Before Sending option, and still the mistakes proliferate. Catching typos is easy (although not everyone does it). It's the...

...1. Understand what data needs to be collected to support the HR practices 1.1 Explain why an organisation needs t collect and record HR data There are many different reasons why organisations record HR data. On the legal side there are requirements to record data. It is important that organisations are operating in line with the law and government legislations and the only way to show they are compliant is via their data records. Legally companies are required to record data such as equal opportunity, right to work, incident records, tax, pension or minimum wage to name a few. If a company is not compliant with the law it will sooner or later run into trouble and be heavily fined or worse case it will cease to exist. (Please se appendix 1). 1.2 Identify the range of HR data that organisations collect and how this supports HR practice For the company’s own benefit data are recorded to gain a better inside view of the day-to-day operation and performance. In order to remain competitive in the market and demonstrate success it is vital to record data, as they will show the company’s level of performance and what action needs to be taken to drive the business forward. Companies rely heavily on the HR operation to support the daily business on planning and decision-makings as well as the compliance with the law. Helping with the companies’ decision making and staff planning are data such as personnel records, inductions, learning and development or performance records. This list...

...Computer Disposal Paper On April 15th 2011 Instructor Eileen Broadhurst There are many parts of the computer that can be hazardous to the environment in addition to simply taking up space in landfills. According to the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, recycling and reusing electronic equipment reduces the amount of hazardous materials that may enter the environment. Recycling and reuse programs also reduce the quantities of electronic scrap being land filled in the state. (Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, 2007). In this paper I will be talking about the proper ways of disposing computer. Since I was appointed by my boss, I will put together a team to work through the project. First we will determine which computers can be reused. My plans will be Computers that are less than five years old can be donated and reused to save some money on this project. Also at the end of the year the company worker can make some bonus. I will assign one of the team member to go from office to office and tagged all the older systems for recycling so that we can know what systems are going to be reuse or donated. Older computers are often too obsolete to be used in many capacities. Computers that are not internet capable can rarely be reused. Computers that cannot be reused will be sent to a recycling center to be broken down into their component parts and recycled. A computer that is not fully functional can sometimes be donated for educational...

The term is applied to the devices that convert one form of electrical energy to another. A regulated power supply is the one that controls the output voltage to dc value. A regulated power supply converts an unregulated ac to dc. Today, almost any electronic devices needs a dc supply for its smooth operation and they need to be operated in certain power supply limits. Conclusion: Based on the components of the project, the proponents conclude that: 1. The output voltage will never be exact to the given voltage. 2. Adding 2-amp fuse to the circuit to avoid damages to the...

...paperless office – after all, every document has to be stored somewhere whether in a file cabinet or a CD-ROM. Here, too, Moore’s law is at work, doubling the amount of storage in the same physical space roughly every two years. A key stumbling block for the truly paperless office has yet to be fully overcome: technology is not infallible. Even the most well-designed computer system will occasionally experience service outages. Paper, on the other hand, is concrete. Paper does not require electricity and is easily shared or copied. There is also a psychological advantage to paper, in that it is a physical object that can’t just “disappear into cyberspace”. Electronic documents, on the other hand, exist only as 1s and 0s in a computer system – a computer system that could fail for many reasons. If the electronic documentation is unavailable even for short periods of time, a business can sustain substantial financial losses. Because businesses are most likely to digitize their most...
