...Employee Portfolio: Motivation Action Plan MGT/311 June 30, 2013 Abstract Motivation is the process that determines how hard an individual works to achieve a goal. There are several modern theories of motivation that will help managers meet the motivational needs of their employees. Using the most appropriate theory of motivation will ensure that the motivational strategy and action plan selected will be effective and achieve the desired results. Keeping employees motivated will help the organization run smoothly and efficiently. Employee Portfolio: Motivation Action Plan Of the several modern motivational theories that are currently used, three have been selected to create a motivational action plan for the Riordan employees. Each plan is designed to help motivate the individual employee and keep them functioning at their highest level of quality. The motivational theory that has been selected for Jami is the self-determination theory. This theory is based on the belief that people need or want to control their own actions. The motivational action plan follows this theory by giving Jami some decision-making power. The action plan also offers verbal acknowledgment of the work that she performs. These actions will help keep Jami motivated and encourage her to strive for greater success. The motivational theory that best fits with the personality characteristics of Breana is the goal-setting theory. This theory focuses on the belief that by giving an employee...

...Employee Portfolio: Motivation Plan of Action Summary MGT/311 Employee Portfolio: Motivation Plan of Action Summary Motivation plays an important role when it pertains to professional development in employees. The management team at Riordan Manufacturing is currently in week three of an assessment period of three employees. The purpose of these assessments has been to try to understand the employees’ state of emotion, characteristic traits, and job engagement. Week three focuses on motivational techniques and a plan of action that is specifically designed for each employee evaluated based on the employee self-assessment survey taken two weeks earlier. Personality Traits It has been documented in these assessments that just because an employee is unhappy with his or her current job state do not necessarily mean that he or she does not show a sense of pride in the work to be completed. Laura, for example displayed dissatisfaction with her current job state and the wages, but given a task to complete, this employee dedicates a great deal of her time to ensure that the project is completed in detail as well as on time. Linda is a devoted employee who shows management that she is a self-starter and often completes tasks without requiring direction to do so. The issue management has with this is often the task gets started and completed without added guidance if needed. Olivia, though improving, has shown supervisors contempt toward...

...Jessica Boyd Week 3 Employee Portfolio: Motivation Action Plan April 21, 2014 Susan Mills Employee Portfolio: Motivation Action Plan One of the most important aspects of a supervisor’s job it to ensure that his/her employees are happy and satisfied with their career. Motivation is defined “as the process that accounts for an individual’s intensity, direction, and persistence of effort toward attaining a goal” (Robbins & Judge, 2011). In the motivation plan that follows there are several different motivational theories that have been chosen for the three employees at Riordan Manufacturing which will be used in the effort to increase performance within the company. Samuel Boyd– Goal Setting Theory After reviewing the self-assessment survey taken by Samuel Boyd, there are many motivational theories that could be used; however the theory that will produce the best results for him is the goal-setting Theory. Samuel’s assessment indicates that he is willing to try new things but allows personal or professional setbacks to keep him from going after his ambitions. In order to motivate him management will use the reward system which will connect to the goal-setting theory and making sure his is setting obtainable, realistic goals. This will motivate him and encourage him to continue to strive for more out of his career. It is management’s understanding that Mr. Boyd has set unrealistic goals in the past which is the main reason for his frustrations and ultimately giving up on...

...Employee Portfolio: Motivation Action Plan Creating a Motivational Plan As a manager of Riordan Manufacturing I have assessed three of my workers, created employee portfolios for them, and now I will determine which motivational strategies will work best for them. This week’s class discussion has focused on creating motivational strategies that are based on the individual characteristics of employees. These strategies are tailored to each worker’s traits, and therefore are more effective. In this essay I will discuss the motivational plans that I have chosen for each of my workers. Plan #1 Plan #1 is for my mother, Lynda, and for the purposes of this essay is an employee of Riordan Manufacturing. The summary of her individual characteristics is overall positive. She scored high in all categories of the assessment taken during week one of this class. She does not need any correction, but she can still use motivational techniques to enhance her performance at her job. I recommend both the Self-Efficacy Theory, and the Goal Setting Theory. The text states that, “Self-efficacy (also known as social cognitive theory or social learning theory) refers to an individual’s belief that he or she is capable of performing a task.” (Robbins & Judge, 2011, Chapter 7: Motivation Concepts). The text also states that it is even more beneficial when the Self-Efficacy Theory works in conjunction with the Goal Setting Theory. “Goal-Setting Theory addresses these issues, and the findings...

...Motivation Action Plan David Evinrude MGT 311 March 3, 2014 John Clair Motivation Action Plan Employees are a critical element to the successful operation of a business and building customer satisfaction in the field. Understanding an employee's behavioral characteristics helps management understand the strengths and weaknesses of an employee while providing them with valuable information to help them develop a strategy to keep them motivated. The motivational strategy that a manager develops for each individual employee could either make or break the organization when it comes to the customer or job satisfaction. After reviewing the employee's assessments and management performance, similarities were discovered between each employee. Each employee seemed to have middle to higher emotional intelligence and were pretty involved in their current positions. A couple of the employee's seemed to become bored with tasks and would lose their focus when it came to tasks that need to be completed while the other employee was focused with the tasks at hand. Upon reviewing each employee's portfolio, it seems each person required the same type of action plan to keep them motivated. In developing the motivational action plan, each employee had a common area that would help keep them motivated. The goal setting approach was identified as a key motivational strategy for each employee. Goal setting provides each person with a defined set of goals that need to be completed within...

...Employee Portfolio Motivation Portfolio Employee Portfolio Motivation Portfolio Being a manager at Riordan Manufacturing, I had my staff take self-assessments in order to see how I can use the material to find ways to manage them effectively. My three employees are a great asset to the company, each having their own performance level and character. After carefully assessing their portfolio, I determined how their character affected their performance of the organization along with that I had also created recommendations on the assessments I received. In this paper, I will determine the right motivational strategy that fits each employee’s characteristics to create an action plan to improve the individual as well as the company as a whole. Motivational Action Plan John M: When I look into the motivational strategy and action plan for John, I would say I could use the arousal strategy. He gets easily psyched up and gets emotionally aroused when we hold motivational meetings. When he gets motivated he then trains his staff in a better mood, gets them pumped up to hit the companies quota in sales for the day and pay period. The overall mood in the office is uplifted and energized to put all their focus into their working performances. By me giving John the encouragement he needs he will not feel I am micromanaging him nor giving him threats on demoting him overall for poor goal achievements. Brooke W: Looking into the motivational strategy that best fits Brooke...
