...Jeres næste aflevering er jeres første engelske essay i gymnasiet. Frygt ej! – Det er en disciplin, der kan læres og ikke en, I forventes at mestre på nuværende tidspunkt. Som vi har talt om, er der forskel på definitionen af et essay, når det skrives i faget dansk, og når det skrives i faget engelsk i gymnasiet. Jeg vil bede jer om at se helt bort fra, hvad et essay skal indeholde i faget dansk. Her skal I KUN fokusere på det engelske essay. Hvis I skriver et essay efter den model, vi har talt om, er I på rette vej. Det papir I fik udleveret om det engelske essay i STX er godt at have ved hånden, når I skriver. Fokusér på essayets tredelte struktur med en introduktion, en analyse (hoveddel/’body’) og en konklusion. Introduktionen skal introducere læseren til dét, I har valgt at skrive om, og hvad I har tænkt dig at problematisere, f.eks. tesen (the thesis statement), at fortælleren, Hass og Morgan fra ”Son of Satan” opfører sig som de gør, fordi de er et produkt af deres opvækst i forstæderne. – Det er et tænkt eksempel, men hvis vi siger, at det er den tese vi vil skrive ud fra i vores essay, så er det op til os at finde eksempler på dette i selve teksten, så vi kan argumentere for denne tese. Husk der skal være en rød tråd i opgaven. Dvs. introduktion, analyse og konklusion skal passe sammen. Det I skriver i introduktionen, skal I argumentere for i analysen og resultatet opsummeres i konklusionen. Så har I et essay, der hænger sammen på den rigtige måde i faget engelsk...

I also think that there also is another theme and that I family. In this story you see two different kind of families and I would say that Morton and his family is a family from the upper class if you can say that, and the big man is from the more low class family that don’t care for manners or polite behaviour. - I think the ending the mom to Larry is a bit ashamed of those two because her husband almost got into a fight and her son is behaving like a spoiled kid that doesn’t know how to behave and she is very concerned what the other people in town thinks of her I think. And suddenly Morton snaps because of the big man have gotten him in a bad mood and when Larry cried all the way home Morton snaps and was just about to hit Larry so he would be quiet but the mother stops him and protected Larry, and that is a good example for a man that can’t control his temper but have to count to ten some times instead of becoming like the big man. - The mother to Larry I think is too afraid and just won’t interfere. My dad and mom drove me to the airport, I thought the drive was so long that day, I had arranged with my best friend that we would meet at the airport at 7 o’clock in the morning, because our flight left at 11 o’clock and we had to check in 2 hours before boarding. We arrived, at our hotel at about 4 o’clock, we decided to unpack our things and after that we went out to eat, we ate at this big fancy restaurant and it tasted like something, I had never tasted before. We spend the rest of the day walking around in London. We had so much fun, shopping all day and then we got drunk at night, and experienced London’s nightlife. One of the biggest things I wished to do was, to see a musical, and I did see one, it was on our last night and I’m so glad I did, we saw “The sound of music”. It is one of the things you have to go to, when you are in London, it was so great I still today 1 year after, remember how the atmosphere was in the big hall, it is something you must experience.
