“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken,” was mentioned by a wise man by the name of Oscar Wylde. I take that quote into consideration every day, even with my past experiences. I was born November 20, 1997 in Coral Springs Florida. I grew up with my mom, Lori, my step-dad, Ryan, my older sister Nicole and my older brother Joey. Although my father is still in my life, I haven’t lived with him since I was about five years old, due to the fact that my parents divorced at a very young age. When I was about twelve years of age, my sister brought home this adorable little puppy, and named him Rocky, ever since that day, Rocky has become a part of the family and fits in perfectly. When I was around weeks old, I was diagnosed with a disease called, Biliary Atresia, which is a blockage in the tubes that carry a liquid called bile from the liver to the gallbladder. I was in and out of the hospital a lot as a baby, and at one point my parents didn’t think I was going to survive. Thankfully, the procedure went well and I lived. When I turned about 2 years old, I started losing my hair. I was later diagnosed with Alopecia which is a condition that causes round patches of hair loss. It can lead to total hair loss. Going through my schools years without any hair was pretty difficult. I began wearing a wig when I got into Elementary school, but it was very uncomfortable. Although it was a struggle in my life, I never let it get to me. I always knew I would be the same person, with or without hair. I eventually grew all of my hair back in the beginning of 6th grade. To this day, I have a full head of hair, but I still get a little patch of missing hair once in a while. In present time, I am currently a junior in high school. I’ve really set my goals and are looking to accomplish all of them. I really have my heart set on becoming an officer for HOSA and being really involved. Joining clubs is a great way to get involved and meet new people. Being a part of many different organizations will help me grow as a person in many aspects. I also want to make sure my grades and GPA are at the best possible level I could get them to. In order to maintain the goals, I must make sure I set school as my number one priority. I hope to stay on track with school, but at the same time, still enjoy my high school experience. After high school I plan to attend a university in Florida, or go to a community college and transfer. I want to major in Pre Veterinary Science and someday become a veterinarian. I am hoping to start off working as an intern at an animal hospital to gain more experience in the field, and then venture off into and Veterinary Assistant. Although it takes a lot of schooling, I am determined to seek the job I’ve always dreamed for. In conclusion, no matter what I went through in my past, I will always remain the same person forever, and always be myself. I will continue to strive as a leader by completing my goals and encouraging others to do so as well. I will also plan for my future, and work hard to become who I want to be.

Ethical Me Essay

...Ethical Me Essay Ethics is a branch of philosophy that coincides with morality. And as we have discussed in class, the definition of morality or ethics is that is deals basically with human relationships – how humans treat other beings so as to promote mutual welfare, growth, creativity and meaning as they strive for good over bad and right over wrong. There is not a definitive answer as to what every individual’s personal ethics are. Each individual’s ethics is subject to various factors such as how the individual was raised, the kind of people they related with, what they were taught and the experiences that the individual has encountered that define their personal ethics. Ethics is doing what is right and wrong whereas values determine what is right and wrong. Values are the principles or standards that either an individual or a group of people hold in high regards. It is these values that guide the way we each live our lives and assist in the decisions we make. An individual’s personal ethics is not just limited to work, school or home. It is related in everything we do on a daily basis and portrays an influential role of defining just who we are and how people respond to us. As an individual born and raised here in the United States to a traditional Chinese family there were certainly many cultural differences of what was expected and what I should and shouldn’t do. However, regardless of what heritage I was from, I was raised with the values of respecting people...

The Essay About Me

...Okay Hi Everyone!!! My Name Is Veronica or Vi for short (Or Vivi-Chan If You’re Name Is Jessica). Now My Assignment was draw some signs that represent me, what’s important to me.... And to write what they mean to me. So I did the first part and I would like to point out that it turned out semi-good. :) So Now I'm doing this part (Or have done since if you’re reading this it'll probably already be done..... So yeah... ONWARDS!!!!!!!!!) Okay so my first symbol was some hands. What In The world could hands mean??? It could mean love or Family but to me it means friendship. What??? How??? Well if the person Is your true friend they will forever hold on. They would go through the ups and every-single-one of the downs just to stay your friend. That's why I drew hands, because hands are forever holding on to something... anything just to hold on. But The Next Symbol Is A Little Confusing I Think. It's a broken heart. That Means That I've been heartbroken before right? Nope. Never. Well there was this one time with this one kid but that was so long ago I don't even remember kids name (actually I Do but Whatever!) But actually the broken heart means Love. Yeah... Told You confusing. It's supposed to say all the things that you love will sometimes hurt you. And sometimes you just have to patch it up and move on! The Sun. That should be an easy one right? It means bright right??? Nope it's supposed to represent a smile. Because I have a friend that will rarely smile but when he does...

Vote Me For President Essay

...president having? In today’s society having this job isn’t going to be easy. This is the job for me because I’m a good leader, I’m honest, and I’m well organized. Vote me for president! First, I’m a good leader. A leader must be strong-minded, understanding, patient, and focused. Having a president with great leadership is what everyone wants for our society today. As a leader it is difficult to please everyone, you need to know how to guide and inspire people just like you might at your work. It also comes with negative effects that can discourage everyone. As has been the caption for the volleyball team for years, I can relate that everyone isn’t going to agree or even think the same, but if you show them and prove to them they will start respecting you more than what they did. Being a leader you will learn to listen and deal with the negatives. When voting for president choose someone with confidence and who can lead our country....

Super-Size Me Essay

...Watching the moving “Super-Size Me” never fails to both intrigue and completely disgust me all at the same time. “Fast food” to me is exactly what it says it is: food that is processed, cooked, served, and eaten fast. I have never really been one to go “anti-fast-food” but after seeing “Super-Size Me” for the first time, it took me a few weeks to be able to pick up a McDonalds chicken nugget. However, a few big questions have arrived from the movie (after seeing it a few times I still get grossed out at the thought). A big question that really was brought up for me was the tendencies that people are holding fast food companies responsible for their obesity problems. I think that is just absolutely ridiculous. They chose to eat there, and I’m sure they know the risks of eating this food. It’s pretty much common knowledge that fast food is VERY unhealthy. The people who sued McDonalds probably were not exercising at all or eating anything healthy at home. If they were really worried about their health, they would ask about the nutrition facts and try to watch their weight and what they eat. If somebody gets fat, it’s nothing but their own fault. This idea presents a very important aspect of American society as a whole: that a lack of education, selfishness, and greed seem to drive American society in a whole lot of ways. This includes why obesity is so dominant in American culture. We want things fast, already prepared, and without any effort on our part, so of course fast food...

Bless Me Ultima Essay

...Bless Me Ultima was published in 1972 by Rudofo Anaya. The themes Anaya writes of are still applicable today, especially if you are an inhabitant of New Mexico. Many who live here have come to appreciate the multi-cultural influence we live with daily. Ours is a State that offers extreme geography, where we can easily attend church or seek a Shaman or Curandera. Though we are scattered among cities, small communities and isolated ranches, the spirit of the people still shines in times of trouble. Rudolfo Anaya writes that, “The supernatural and ordinary reality are worlds that exist side by side. I don’t believe the truth is out there, I believe it is within. To discover the truth and power within is to walk in the supernatural.” The novel Bless me Ultima has several examples that reflect Anaya’s comments. My favorite is a conversation between Antonio and his father. “Understanding does not come that easy, Tony—““You mean God doesn’t give understanding?’ “Understanding comes with life, “ he answered, “as a man grows he sees life and death, he is happy and sad, he works, plays, meets people—sometimes it takes a lifetime to acquire understanding, because in the end, understanding simply means having a sympathy for people,” he said. “Ultima has sympathy for people, and it is so complete that with it she can touch their souls and cure them---“ “That is her magic—“ “Ay and no greater magic can exist.” “But in the end, magic is magic, and one does not explain it so...

Nurse Feeding Me Essay

...My husband was done feeding me at 5:00 pm. The experience was an interesting one. Not being able to do things for myself was the biggest adjustment, not only physically but also mentally. As the “patient” I kind of felt helpless and powerless. From this experience I have learned what it feels like to be the patient. Many times it may feel like just another task to whomever is feeding the patient. By taking into consideration what the patient feels the nurse/nurse aide will better understand the view of the patient. The impact that the experience will have on me as a nurse will be to do more to look at the patient’s point of view. It will also be important to pay attention to the effect that the patient’s nutrition will have on their health while in my care. This experience can be seen from another point of view and that is the nurse aide. The nurse aide is always busy and always moving and I have seen many nurses that just delegate tasks while sitting, talking and laughing. The nurse aide also needs help at times. Woeking as...

How It Feels To Be Colored Me Essay

...“How It Feels to Be Colored Me” by Zora Hurston is an essay in which the author expresses the discovery of her identity and self-pride. The theme of the essay is self-confidence. Hurston’s confidence in herself helped her have a positive attitude about life and bad experiences. Zora Hurston’s use of diction, imagery, and form all contribute to the theme in the essay. Zora Hurston’s diction enhances an understanding that Zora is self-confident. During this time period, it was not common for black women to be educated. Her diction is easy to understand even though she uses quotations from literary sources. Her word choice makes it quite obvious that she was self-confident. Happiness came from being herself. She describes herself as confident when she is strutting down the streets of New York with her hat. Zora believes that she belongs to...

What College Mean To Me Essay

...students my age, this is a very stressful time in our lives. Writing essays, filling out applications, keeping up relationships, and making important decisions is the only thing on our brains. In all of this chaos we tend to forget to ask ourselves, “Why am I doing all of this?” The essay prompt presented by Trinity’s Honors Program was a good reminder of what education means to me and why I want to dedicate the next phase of my life to furthering my education. What you choose to spend your time doing in college is more than just a “phase.” These years are pivotal to the decisions and life choices that students will make. Choices like this can be handled frivolously or with great care. The course of how they are handled often goes hand in hand with discipline. For me, throughout high school, I feel as if I have been extremely disciplined in my studies and extra-curricular programs. I would say this is a crucial trait to have going into any major, but especially when dealing with God’s Word. This is something that can’t just have some dedication; it can’t be taken lightly. As I plan on entering the MDiv program, I know that I need to have this discipline and dedication. I am...

Essay - Me and Dave and Mount Olympus

...Can one experience alter a person´s view on human equality? According to the successful and prominent author Michael Faber it can. In 2006 he wrote a personal essay named “Me and Dave and Mount Olympus”, in which he depicts a specific and life-changing incident with a homeless person, which changed many aspects of his own life. Until the meeting in the homeless shelter, Michael Faber is in an ivory tower and sees himself as “on top of Mount Olympus” looking down on the human race. His arrogance disappears after the intense meeting, where Michael Faber discovers, that both of them are equals in the eyes of the universe. Michael Faber´s reliability is strengthened by the fact that this is an authentic story, and he really did become a famous author later on in life. He can use the story as a foundation for his claims. Michael Faber´s main claim is to enlighten the readers and perhaps persuade and encourage the readers to review how they look at other human beings. It explains through intelligent language and use of metaphors, how his animalistic meeting with a bum named Dave taught him that everyone is equal. Even though “Me and Dave and Mount Olympus” is a personal essay, it still has the classic home-away-home structure. We hear about his life before, during and after his encounter with Dave. The reason why we hear about Michael Faber´s life before and after the incident is, because we need to get to know him in order to understand his mentality and his situation. Back in...

Essay on "Me Talk Pretty One Day"

...Essay on ”me talk pretty one day” The essay “me talk pretty one day” is an essay written by David Sedaris and published in 2005. It is a expository text about David’s, the author’s, own experiences with learning French in a foreign country and the essay deals with themes such as the attitude towards leaning a foreign language but also that you have to understand the language, before you can speak it. In the essay, the writer David Sedaris shares his experiences with learning French at an international school in France. His first encounter with the strict and yet quite sarcastic French teacher tears down his walls of self-esteem and belief in himself throughout most of the time he spends in the class, because he and his other classmates can not speak the language fluently. In time he becomes more and more frightened that he might say something wrong and he even stop taking any contact with people because he dread anything that requires speaking the language. The students in the class are not fluent in French either and their halting sentences sound like “Sometimes me cry alone at night” (p.8, line 109) and “[…] someday you talk pretty” (p.8 line 109-110.) The author understands his fellow students, although they do not speak fluent French, but when his French teacher talks in class he does not understand half of what she is saying, for instance: “Even a fiuscreza ticiwelmun knows that a typewriter is feminine” – (p.7, line 71-71) This tells us exactly how the students...
