...Okay Hi Everyone!!! My Name Is Veronica or Vi for short (Or Vivi-Chan If You’re Name Is Jessica). Now My Assignment was draw some signs that represent me, what’s important to me.... And to write what they mean to me. So I did the first part and I would like to point out that it turned out semi-good. :) So Now I'm doing this part (Or have done since if you’re reading this it'll probably already be done..... So yeah... ONWARDS!!!!!!!!!) Okay so my first symbol was some hands. What In The world could hands mean??? It could mean love or Family but to me it means friendship. What??? How??? Well if the person Is your true friend they will forever hold on. They would go through the ups and every-single-one of the downs just to stay your friend. That's why I drew hands, because hands are forever holding on to something... anything just to hold on. But The Next Symbol Is A Little Confusing I Think. It's a broken heart. That Means That I've been heartbroken before right? Nope. Never. Well there was this one time with this one kid but that was so long ago I don't even remember kids name (actually I Do but Whatever!) But actually the broken heart means Love. Yeah... Told You confusing. It's supposed to say all the things that you love will sometimes hurt you. And sometimes you just have to patch it up and move on! The Sun. That should be an easy one right? It means bright right??? Nope it's supposed to represent a smile. Because I have a friend that will rarely smile but when he does...

...All About Me Everyone defines themselves in different ways. Everyone also finds different things important to them. If I were to choose three main things that are the most important in my life at this moment; I would choose, family, friends, and education. These three things have helped build who I am as a person today. Family has always been important to me. Without my family I would be out on the streets like a lost dog. Both of my parents have done their best to raise me and get me to where I am today. My older brother, Hector, has always been there for me. He is the reason I am not afraid to speak my mind. My younger siblings, Denise, Nemo, and Viviana, have all taught me to be more patient than I was. Patience is something I lacked greatly until they came around and it is something that is majorly needed in life. Speaking my mind has been both positive and negative for me. I tend to say what is on my mind at all times and...

...The point in my life that changed me was probably the time that i was with my dad and he was drunk and i watched him choke my stepmom and he was yelling at me and my little sisters. It was late at night and they sky was black with bright stars and the moon was brighter than ever. I had just fallen asleep when my stepmother came out of her room trying to get ready for work but she was very noisy which was irritating my dad. My dad was drinking a couple hours earlier and he fell asleep soon after but he turns into someone else when he drinks. He was so furious about the noise that he came out of the room yelling and banging on everything that was in front of him it was like he was the giant from jack and the beanstalk because he instantly resorted to violence. First he was mad that my stepmom was slamming the cabinets shut then he was yelling at my sisters for crying,...

...All about me, me and me Woosh. Woosh. Woosh. The fan spins in my excessively hot room. Sweat is dripping off my forehead and I feel like I might pass outtttttttttttttttttttt. Sorry just did right there. Oh fuck! I have to finish this essay tonight and what do I have? Zero inspiration to write something that’s all about me. It seems really easy but damn, my writer’s block is really kicking in. The heat is killing me. I’m sitting in my my room with a refreshing glass of water with two ice cubes, not crushed ice, I hate that shit. I mean why would you want crushed? The pieces are so small you’ll just start to swallow ice. I also have some bad for you poisonous shit chips to my left, but they taste soooo good. I’m listening and singing to some of Coldplay’s great hits on my small little amp. The most notable songs that catch my attention at the moment are: Viva La Vida, Lovers In Japan and Strawberry Swing. Sometimes I try to imagine that there is a strawberry swing on a rolling green hill with the markings of a strawberry on the wood seat of the swing. I love to put myself in the image of what the singer is describing. The lyrics are paint on the canvas of my mind. Thinking about being in someone’s song comforts me. Songs help me get through writing this difficult essay that I wish I weren’t doing at the moment. Wow! I’m almost at two pages. Don’t quit now. Damn. Game of Thrones is on my television. I have to resist! It’s so cool though; I can’t. I get up and turn my television...

...learned a lot about myself as a writer. I have found that I tend to write in first person more than I should. It is not always bad to write that way, but it is not the most formal way to write. When I write I have to concentrate on not using pronouns such as I, me, and myself. I have learned that writing is not as easy as I thought it was. Writing takes time and planning. To have a nice, well written paper, I have to take time to go though it a few times to check for mistakes and errors. The biggest challenge for me so far has been time management. I am in high school and I tend to remember homework for my physical classes better than this one. I also have a part-time job and volunteer two to three times a week. Both of these things tend to get in my way when...

...Throughout this past semester, I have learned more about writing. This has brought on a whole new style in my writing. The beginning of this semester was not ideal, how assignments were written on the papers were confusing. My first assignment in this class was not my best grade and definitely showed my confusion. Without a doubt, that continued to occur in almost every assignment. However, the essays that truly contributed to my newer depth in writing were the Three-Source Synthesis Essay, Research Paper, and this final essay. To begin, I would like to say, the synthesis essay was one of the hardest essays I have ever written. Finding the comparisons between three similar yet completely different articles was not easy. I had spent around 70 hours on this particular essay and even turning it in was nerve wrecking. Yet, this paper helped me improve my writing style greatly by pushing me to actually complete the essay. I had to learn how to find sources using the libraries website. To be truthful, using the libraries website was the most difficult part of finding reliable sources. The second essay that really pushed me was the research paper. I found plenty of sources but had the hardest time arranging them into essay formatting. Another difficult part of this essay that had helped influence my writing style was finding the...

...When I first thought about my English 11 class I was thinking about how I wanted to better myself in the future. I was hoping that I would get a teacher that would help me improve my writing skills and help me improve my SAT score and I received my wish. I ended up getting Mrs. Miles as a my English teacher and I was very excited to get her as a teacher because I wanted to see how fun she makes English and it was a lot of fun.Writing is like cooking you can only have a few ingredients but, you can make something actually mouth-watering out of it. Overall, I have greatly improved my writing skills for the future. The first essay that I would like to talk about is my Romanticism Fictional Narrative that I made in my 10th grade English class. The reason why I chose to talk about this essay is because it shows how creative I can without an outline. What I liked about this essay is how creative and descriptive it is. I made this essay by basically going off what my brain imagined. What I learned from this essay is when I do not use an an outline my ideas are more artistic....

...reflection essays that I wrote, I noticed numerous problems that stood out for each essay and some that repeated themselves. These problems formed various patterns that appeared throughout my writing, brought out my strongest and weakest points for each essay, and made me think about what I would have done differently if I would have had more time. As I began writing the review essay, the annotated bibliographies, and the academic argument, the one problem, or error, that became consistent was lack of detail of the citations I used in my earlier drafts. As I looked back at my essay for the academic argument, this became one of the most noticeable patterns that was consistent throughout all my...

...My heart raced, my hands sweat, and my voice quivered as the first few syllables of my essay escaped my mouth. None of the public speaking rehearsals that I had painstakingly endured could have prepared me for the moment when the curtain rose and all eyes at the annual Mississippi VFW Convention stared seemingly through me. At the age of 14, I had never spoken in front of a crowd of that magnitude. As I glanced across the audience and saw the smiles that covered each of the veterans’ faces, all my apprehension vanished. The attitude of spite I had for writing dissipated as I came to fully understand that my ability to read and write had opened doors for me to learn more about my great grandfather’s life, bring joy to the members of the VFW,...

...manner especially since I do it on a daily at work but when it comes to a proper essay or the etiquette and structure I had no clue whatsoever. I honestly did hate the fact that out of every course I have so far taken this course had the most homework and now I understand why since there is so much to learn about the guidelines within a perfectly appropriate paper. Throughout the course I have found out there are many types of essays that are typed for appropriate matters or when it comes to certain points that need to stand out. There is the expository paper which is when you need to explain a theme or an idea to your intended audience and this style has a well-defined thesis. A persuasive essay is when you try to convince the audience or reader on a position you have about a certain topic or point of view. You are trying to persuade the readers and let them know you are correct. Analytical essay is when you analyze and examine a type of product which can consist of a book, poem or even a play or major even that happened. This essay basically explains the topic you want the audience to understand and you state the facts about the topic and inform them about everything you know with proof. Argumentative essays are a type of essay with your own personal opinion, theory and hypothesis about an issue that is correct and more truthful then those around you. This type is similar to a persuasive essay but the difference is that you are arguing your opinion instead of trying to let...

...People are using bad words when they are excited, happy, angry, anxious, even they are just talking about what the weather is like today. It is the right to say them or not. And most people have touch with bad words since little, maybe at age of 12 or at the age that cannot remember things. But in this essay "cuss time", the author Jill McCorkel has an activity with his 8-year-old son, and the son has freedom to have a speech in the activity. The essay is to describe freedom of speech, and not only about speech, about thoughts and ideas. People always tell the other people what should not say or what should not to do, furthermore this means we draw a circle for ourselves which we need to stay in. McCorkel let readers know that "We build a world around negatives -you can't say [...] then you can get away from a lot of things." One of the most common "negative" things in the world is teaching children not to use "bad words". In order to express freedom of "bad words", I believe this essay is more about freedom, freedom of talking, freedom of behaving, freedom of thinking. She is trying to make her viewpoint, let people talk freely, do things freely, think freely, make the circle disappear, make the world we built disappear. When I first read this essay, it remained me one thing in my childhood. I remember I was around 11 years old or 12 years old, I started to hear some "bad words" in school and from my friends. Also like other kids did, I started to say "bad words"...

...fore me, I have been faced with many obstacles in my life, but one in particular comes to mind: writing essays. For some people, writing is a chance to let their ideas and opinions flow on a piece of paper. Yet to others, like me, writing is difficult and I find it hard to let go and obtain a rhythm of words. As I write essays, I constantly stop to think of the best way to express my thoughts and use the right words to explain them; it doesn’t just come to me. That’s why when my English teacher, Ms. Poth, told us we’d be writing an in-class essay, I freaked. I immediately started to doubt myself and became frustrated because I told myself I wasn’t going to be able to do this. I kept thinking these thoughts until a few minutes later when I recognized how negative I was being. At that point, I decided to turn my attitude around and not give up that easily. I realized that with a positive mental attitude and some preparation for the task ahead of me, I could actually get through this essay with at least a B. After Ms. Poth had told us about our in-class essay, she explained to the class that she wouldn’t let us know the question on which we were to write about. However, she did give us some hints to what the topic would be about. She emphasized that we should review the stories of the Angle-Saxon Period and the Medieval Period. That was when the light bulb turned on in my head; I was going to review the literature of those time periods to better prepare myself for this essay. By...

...become a professional graduate one-day. Since I picked ENC 1101 to be one of my first semester college classes, it's been a difficult course for me. My lack of grammar knowledge, experience writing essays and organizing ideas are the three factors that made this college class challenging. Even though it's been hard on me, I now know how to write essays the right way and also how to organize my ideas so I have a clear vision of what I'll be writing about. This is really important to me because learning how to write properly will not only help me pass ENC 1101, but it will help succeed in other classes, life, and my future career. My ENC 1101 Professor Walter Hernandez not only motivated us to become better writers but also shared with us important tips regarding how to write like a college writer. He would always have a positive attitude, making the class amusing and enjoyable. The first week of school, Professor Hernandez showed the class "The ENC 1101 Survival Guide" which is a document containing essays written by Miami Dade College students that represent how his students made it through his class by becoming better writers. Therefore every time I need to write an essay, I always take a quick look at one of the writings in the guide in order to obtain ideas and tips on how to make my writing perfect. One of my favorite essays from the survival guide is "Tips to Succeed In ENC 1101" by Nathalie Silvera, where she explains and details step by step how she made it through...
