Our group has chosen China and Taiwan as our two main countries for analysis: China is one of the world’s largest exporters of food products and food safety issue is pertinent; Taiwan’s food products are exported to 15 major countries such as U.S., China, Germany, Hong Kong, and Malaysia (Wang, 2011), thus food safety issue is serious as well. If these hazardous products were circulated to different countries, the consequences would be widespread. This report provides the background information, analysis of the problem and solutions in the respective countries. According to the article there were rumors that Baidu.com was accepting payments to keep information from surfacing regarding the tainted milk during a search, which goes against the integrity of the company. Also Baidu.com was under attack for not separating paid advertisements from non-paid search results. 2. Because of the rumors, it could cause the stakeholders to lose confidence in Baidu.com. If the public believes that Baidu.com is guilty of producing some unreliable search results, it could cause numerous problems for Baidu.com. For the most part, many people portray the image of China as a centralized socialist country, ruled by the Communist party, and is heavily influenced by the deeply rooted Confucianism culture. However, many scholars such as Karl Gerth have also noticed that, with thirty years of foreign engagement, “although China remains a nominally socialist country, consumerism is now deeply entrenched in all areas of Chinese life.” China’s economics environment goes nearly hand in hand with its culture and political policies. There’s no question that Chinese culture shapes and explains many of the impacts of the rapidly expanding Chinese consumerism. Today’s China is much more globalized than it was ever before. One example is today, when travelers from all over the world visit China, they find very little barriers in their visiting, and feel so at home in cities such as Beijing and Shanghai. This is because, in an essential sense, the global standards are already merged into Chinese economy, and implemented well in the most economically developed countries.
