Yet we are not satisfied with our life. There always seems to be something missing. As Thich Nhat Hanh correctly points out, happiness can only be attained by gaining freedom. And freedom comes only when we let go of everything, including our thoughts. “A person’s mind is so powerful, it can invent, create, experience and destroy things with thoughts alone” A person who desires freedom has to realize the fact that it is not him who controls his thoughts, but his thoughts who control him. Our thoughts are in command and we unknowingly have become its slaves. This fact can be related to our everyday lives. For instance, I have an assignment to write for the subject “Zen and the Executive Mind”. I freshen up after an entire day...

...Tina Grenon Professor Schmitt English 1101/48 10 September 2012 My Dream Home My dream home that I design will be all that I imagine and more. It will be a three bedroom, Ranch-styled, brick home with a three car garage and a massive double front door. Some of the interior features will include a chef’s kitchen and spa-like on-suites. Outdoors will consist of meandering pathways through colorful shade gardens that lead up to a flagstone terrace that overlooks the in-ground swimming pool. The ultimate chef’s kitchen in my home will have cool black granite countertops lining the walls, breakfast bar, and island. A double-oven and pasta sink is a must for an Italian inspired kitchen. An oversized copper sink with the apron showing would be housed around the breakfast bar for easy access. The warm glow from the pendant lighting surrounding the kitchen with rich copper undertones sets the perfect mood lighting as I cook delicious creations with sinful aromas. Afterwards, I can wash my cares away by visiting one of the spa-like on-suites just off of any one of the bedrooms. Each one includes a walk-in shower with stunning rainfall showerheads and travertine tiles. If I prefer a soak, I can slide into a warm bubble bath in one of the copper claw-foot tubs situated by a picture window overlooking the many gardens. Once my senses have been renewed, I can wander outdoors...

...Aspirin and plants might have something in common when combined. If Aspirin was added to a plant then the results might differ. Aspirin is supposed to affect humans. Aspirin is not made to fix nor cure plants from anything. Testing this out could affect something from the plant cell that's different from the animal cell. This paper will be diving deeper into each individual aspect and provide more information. First, Aspirin Is A drug that is supposed to to reduce pain and fever from infections. ...I received the inevitable question from the back seat, “How do you know that?” I had to think about that for a minute, and then I knew; when I was in first grade we started learning about plants, and we learned the difference between coniferous and deciduous trees. I can remember sitting in my father’s car telling him about what I had learned about about , and he told me about the Tulip Trees that lined Woodward Ave. My friends are always amazed that I can hold onto information for such a long time. Of course my ability doesn’t impress me. What I find astonishing is the way that learning grows from itself, like a plant whose cutting you can put into water so that it will root. Knowing one thing, the difference between deciduous and evergreen trees, led to my learning about something close to home, which led me to learn about when the tulip trees were planted, by whom, and what zoning rules were causing some of them to be preserved while others were cut down. Knowledge is just like that - you get a little bit of it and it grows. When I think about going to llc agreement college, about leaving the facts and sights that I’ve known and explored for years I am filled not with fear but with a rising tide of excitement. To live day in and day out in a place filled with my peers who are all in the pursuit of different branches of academia seems like a dream come true for me. The conversations and information that I will receive outside of class alone will be staggering, and the...

...the land but also the animals residing in it. The sage grouse relies on the sage bush for their nesting cover and diet. Sage stays evergreen while other plants remain dormant in winter. The pronghorn as well as other winter grazers rely on the sage for survival. The leaves are high in all essential nutrients for these grazers and despite the heavy snowfall their tops remain uncovered. Sage also shelters the grass in the area for optimal growth. With the sage removed it is in question if the grass can thrive at all without it. Since it took years of evolution for this bush to dominate the land and benefit the grass growth how well could it really do without the sage? Even so, many agencies already implemented sage extirpation through chemical sprays. Many of those educated of lands history believes this is a terrible idea. With the sage eliminated the grass stands will not have shelter from fierce winter winds, nor will they have moisture reserves in the soil during droughts. The animals residing in this area during the winter will starve when presented with lack of wintering brush to feed. Another consequence of spraying is eliminating plants that are not the target. The U.S. Forest Service in Wyoming set out to spray and kill 10,000 acres of sage brush. They unintentionally killed the willows of the area as well. These willows had been used for years as viable habitat for beavers and moose which in turn let them benefit other species in the area as well. Beavers...
