In the book “Every Storm Runs Out of Rain”Kip Kiser is the main character. In the book she faces many hardships, but she perseveres, finds the good, and develops an aptitude for the skill of leadership along the way. I came across this book lying in the Carroll County Middle School hallway when I was in 8th grade. The book looked appealing and interesting, so I picked it up, took it to the library, and checked it out. The moment I opened the book, I knew it was going to be great. By the time I got back to my class I was already on page 21. It only took me 3 days to read the book, it was 373 pages long. I noticed that Kip and I really connected. I could relate to what she was going through and how she handled it. To begin with, Kip perseveres through any challenges that she may face. As an 8th grader, I feel that I have made it through many challenges. For example, I lost my granny to cancer, I lost my uncle Joe due to an allergic reaction, I lost my great-granny to cancer, and I almost lost my papa to a heart-attack.…show more content… After her mother’s passing Kip felt the need to “step up” and be a “mother figure” to her 4 year old sister. I have “stepped up” and I am helping my widowed aunt and her three children, as well as my papa, my dad, and my mom. Also, I am a leader for for the younger children at my church. I participate in Music Camp just so I can help the children and be a leader that can inspire them to never give up and keep your head held high. Also, at home, I often times, watch my little sister for a few hours a day while my mother is working. To continue, I take Family and Consumer Science Class, commonly known as Home Ec, in school. In that class we take home “infant simulators”, the electronic babies, for one weekend. During that weekend we must “care for the baby as if it were a real baby”.
