...As an introduction to this reflection, I’d say that Management really is an interesting subject, especially when your instructor makes you laugh anytime. Oh, but we’ll just tackle that one in the next ground because I still have a reflection to make. So for me to finally start with this,---to be honest, I do not really know what is “Principles and Organization and Management” is, or before, but as days, months, times goes and passes by, primary matters that is inside in a management was discussed. Wherein, the manager is always the one that is mentioned. A manager must always know what to do, what to plan and everything that is good for the company. How to manage diversity also reflects on me, a student, because in a classroom I am in, we have different cultures, so in like managing about it, you have to be open minded, you must listen to others opinions before making another step. Just like, the manager as a decision maker. A manager must set his plans already involving the management so that it can be shared to everyone. (For me, planning always comes first before decision making.) In a life wherein you have to be careful on having your plans in order for you to have a good outcome in the end after the decision was made. Reflecting on “doing the right thing” and “doing things right” these are really perfect thoughts to be reflected by us students. Somewhat like, one at a time, but you cannot, because in every little thing that occur there’s always two sides. But to be specific...

Humphreys Centre for Advancement in Special Education University of Hong Kong The development of inclusive education practices have led to worldwide discussion of how best to deliver a more equal education opportunity for all. In Hong Kong this has led to the development of the concept of an inclusive curriculum for special schools. This paper looks at the implications of writing an inclusive curriculum that has common curriculum content for all pupils that is based on the State curriculum. Over a four year period, nine special schools for pupils of different designated disability collectively pooled their resources to work for one common curriculum goal. In doing so they discovered that the biggest challenge was to the teacher’s hearts and minds. Over 130 teachers were involved in the project. It required a significant paradigm shift in the way the teachers thought both about what they taught and how they taught. It required a common team effort within and across each school. It was apparent that providing equal opportunity to raise standards of education for the all the pupils required the recognition that every teacher had to change their way of thinking, every teacher matters. Introduction Four years ago, nine special schools embarked on a development program to work out an inclusive curriculum. When they met the schools were all designated with different disability responsibilities...

...The Five Functions of Management MGT330: Management for Organizations Management function is an integral part of any organization. This paper will describe each of the five functions as they pertain to my past work experiences. Management discipline consists of five specific functions: planning, organizing, staffing, leading and controlling Reilly, M., Minnick, C., & Baack, D. (2011). I was in the Navy for 20 years and have had a lot of experiences with different types of management, some good and some bad. The first function I will describe is planning. Planning is a systematic process in which managers make decisions about future activities and the key goals that the organization intends to pursue Reilly, M., Minnick, C., & Baack, D. (2011). My experience in the Navy concerning the planning function was extensive. I was able to see the planning stages from every angle throughout the process, from the lowest man on the totem pole to the person developing and executing the plans. My last duty station in the Navy was as an instructor and we had to do a comprehensive curriculum review and change the whole curriculum. During the planning stages we had to determine what our strengths and weaknesses were as it pertained to the content, subjects and personnel that were to be delivering the instruction. The entire planning stage took approximately 6 months to complete and it was extremely daunting. The goals we had set for the curriculum change were attainable because...

...The definition of bureaucratic control from the textbook is the use of hierarchical authority of a manager to influence his employee’s behaviour. A manager can punish or reward his employees whether is compliance to organisational policies, rules and procedures (McWilliams & Williams 2009). From more than a century ago, bureaucratic control has been dominating organisations from worldwide (McKenna and Garcia-Lorenzo et al. 2010). In fact, bureaucratic control is still the dominant of organisations although we are in the 21st century. During the early 90’s, bureaucratic control is popularized by a German philosopher, Max Weber. Based on his theory, bureaucratic control includes written documents, application of impersonal rules, division of labour, well-trained staff and experts, hierarchy and full working capacity of the officials (Al-Habil 2011). One of the main elements of bureaucratic control is hierarchy which means top-to-down control in an organisation. In other words, the managers who belong to the top of the hierarchy will control all the subordinates who belong to the bottom of the hierarchy. The higher the position a manager holds, the more authority he has and thus, he will control more subordinates. Bureaucratic control will ease in controlling the employees especially in production department because of centralised decision making which is to say only the manager in charge will be able to make decision. For example, a manager will have to decide how much raw materials...
