Julian Huxley formulated the modern synthesis of evolution.

Richard Meyer studies vectors. Vectors are animals or organisms that carry diseases from one organism to another. Mosquitoes are the most dangerous.

7. Briefly describe the example given in the video of natural selection in action. Charles Darwin and Alfred Wallace purposed a hypothesis that all living organisms are the decedents of earlier forms which have evolved through time with a process called natural selection. This became the base of what we know as the Darwin theory. Darwin uncovered the fossil remains of an extinct organism. In the alopical islands Darwin came up with the idea that certain traits among organisms might have something to do with where they live and what they eat.

8. Did pesticides cause the mutations in the mosquitoes that allowed them to resist the pesticide? Explain why Yes, pesticides did cause mutation in the mosquitoes that allowed them to resist. Resistant’s is based on genes. Dr. Taylor has documented that gene frequencies are changing. This mutation was amplified through nature selection. The pesticide acts as an agent of selection favoring the survival and reproduction of resistant mosquitoes. The resistant mosquitoes pass on their genes.
