After reading this article, I realized that organization is a method crucial in education. I believe organization is needed from classroom management down to structure of lessons. Dialectic is another method used every day in the classroom. Teachers organize information, make it meaningful for students, then introduce it in a classroom lesson making it easier to teach. I truly feel that this article is precise on when it comes to the education and the start of dialectic. Education is a method that all teachers have to learn and use. When it comes to prepping for a classroom lesson, teachers have to organize knowledge for the purpose of meaningful instructions. As teachers, we have to make sure the things we teach are meaningful and precise. …show more content…
We use lesson plans to help us structure our lesson. We organize our thoughts in a few pages that will help us guide our lesson from start to finish. I do however feel that lessons are just a guide and that they should always be open for change. We know our students, but we can only predict if they will catch on so that we can move on. In my classroom I use my lessons to help me organize my thoughts and my goals for the lesson. I do however make sure if my students are struggling, I am going to take a step back review. I work at a TAP school and our lesson plans, like the Nicholls Lesson Plans, has to be a five part lesson plan. All of our lesson plans start with a “task focus”. Our task focus is to catch the students’ attention. To help get their mind going to that they can start thinking and using their brain. Our task focus always comes first because in order to get the students thinking we have to spark their interest. After the task focus, the lesson then begins and is structured and organized with the lesson, then guided practice, then independent practice, and then review. The lessons are so structured that our students learn the pace of our class and always will know what will come next. Structure in the classroom is needed. I believe classroom should have structure and the content teaching should be meaningful. I believe that our job is to implement what is necessary and meaningful in the classroom. I believe he helped direct the improvement of education. Education will always be a changing career. We have to be open to new ideas and new technology that will take education to the other level. In doing so, we still need to remember how it all started and that no matter what new technology or strategies come out, we can always go back to structure and organization. We will always go back to focusing on what is purposeful in the classroom. We will always believe, that we will should always go back to the five part lesson for the classroom and always use the lesson plans as a guide, but not an exact instrument. I believe we will always need to catch the students’ attention, in order to fully have their mind ready to learn. Clifford Orwin, the author of this article, is a professor of political science at the University of Toronto.
