...and scientists have always favored preventive measures to avoid the conditions which result in undergoing a rigorous treatment. In this view physical activity or fitness training programs have been found having significant effects in the prevention of strokes as well as at post care stage as treatment and a measure of rehabilitation in survivors of cardiac arrests. Further, it has been noted in recently conducted studies that quite a remarkable evidences are discovered in favor of physical activity as therapeutic as well as rehabilitative in nature. Organized physical activity in the form of exercise, tailor made programs according to the needs of the patients at post care stage and fitness training exercise therapy have been found considerably helpful in rehabilitation in the survivors of stroke. In addition, further research is proposed to explore the different types of organized exercise programs according to the physical and mental conditions of survivors and as preventive measures among them. Physical Activity in the Prevention and Treatment of Stroke Cardiac arrest is a one of the growing and leading causes of death around the globe. According to available data, more than 130,000 people suffer from heart attack, from mild to severe strokes, every year, (SIGN, 2008). ...BACKGROUND AND OVERVIEW Bally Total Fitness was created in 1996 with Lee Hillman as its first CEO. Bally traces its existence to the Health and Tennis Corporation, run by Dave Wildman. Wildman had begun to purchase ailing gyms and aggressively expanded and acquired several other brands as well. In the 1990s, as part of a diversification move, Bally Manufacturing, a gambling equipment company, decided to purchase Wildman’s collection of gyms and other brands. This diversification of brands created what was known as Bally Entertainment. Bally Total Fitness was then created in 1996 as the health club portion of Bally Entertainment. Lee Hillman started the company off in an unusual path, Mr. Hillman used a retrenchment strategy by selling off outlets, rationalizing Bally’s brand portfolio, and closing several clubs, which then returned the business to profitability. During Hillman’s course of leadership, Bally developed a very broad range of products and services, which increased revenues out of the company’s existing membership base and added profit to the bottom line. The company faced a triggering event when Bally’s CEO Lee Hillman stepped down suddenly in December of 2002. Bally’s chief operation officer at the time, Paul Toback, replaced Mr. Hillman and moved to the top of the company. Toback’s started as CEO explaining that he expected changes to the company to be “more evolutionary than revolutionary”. Under Hillman’s lead, Bally was operating essentially as two different...

...Health and Exercise Introduction Health is a big and many-sided area of human life as well as exercising is very important to a person’s health. I think that among all questions related to the human's body, the health must overcome all other aspects and become the main reference point for finding the answers. Exercising also gently improves your health, improve your quality of life, and reducing the feelings of depression and anxiety. Although impossible to have a clear awareness and good impact in your academic life without being healthy. This research was important to us because we are students at Georgetown university, and health and exercise has influence in our academic performance. In addition, The questions covered topics such as exercising, having breakfast before class, taking vitamins, drinking coffee, and methods used to balance their daily diet in the exam periods. The open-ended question was designed to bring out responses in greater detail about their diet balance in the exam periods. Our team had generated a number of hypotheses before conducting the interviews and the surveys. We predicted different answers from both genders, and also expected certain answers from people who are under and above 21. We thought that asking people at the gym would give us different perspectives than those who were not at the gym. Regarding time, we did not expect any highlighted differences in the responses that we accumulated in the morning and those which were accumulated in...

...3 out of 4 adults are always on a look out for a deal when attending a gym. This is becoming ever more important among the heavier users. It is important for venues looking to protect their market position to roll their sleeves up and jump in with deals of their own if they are not to lose custom to their competitors.” – Michael Oliver, Senior Leisure and Media Analyst http://academic.mintel.com/display/545472/ Leisure Review - UK - December 2011 The UK leisure industry peaked in value in 2007, just before the credit crunch and subsequent economic recession. Since then, it has declined considerably, by some 3% in current price terms, which represents a 22% contraction in real terms. The prospects for the leisure industry remain difficult: the Chancellor’s most recent Autumn Statement made it clear that austerity measures are here to stay for the foreseeable future, including a cap on public sector pay. Given that some leisure businesses have been just about surviving during 2011 in the hope that things will pick up again in 2012, this will have come as a huge disappointment to them and it will be no surprise if there is an increase in insolvencies and administrations as a result. The only potential glimmer of hope comes from the promise that inflation will fall significantly during the next 12 months but unless it goes into negative territory then consumers will still be seeing their real standard of living worsening, because at present earnings are not growing at all...

...a large and nationwide commercial operator of fitness centers in the Unite States. But with the increasingly fierce market competition and the internal management problems such as poor accounting standards, the stock price of the company collapsed. Some shareholders had lost faith in the company. A major shareholder of the company was urging the CEO to sell the company. So the company faced two alternatives, one alternative was to sell the company to meet the demand of shareholders; the other alternative was to strengthen its internal control system to remedy the management fault. In this way to restore the stock price, restore the confidence of shareholders, and enable the company to keep a major player in the health club industry. Exercise gyms had a long history in the Unite States which can be dating back to 150 years ago. By 2004, the revenue of the U.S. health club was about $14.2 billion. There were more than 26,000 health clubs in the U.S. and over 13% of the U.S. populations for about 41 million were the members of these club. About 60 million people used health club in 2002 in the U.S. If coupled with non-members. One key driving point of health club phenomenon was the growing awareness about health and well-being, and concern about obesity and its effects among Americans. ...adulthood (American Heart Association [AHA], 2006c; Jones, Willis, & Uzark, 2006). One of the most common CHDs is tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), occurring in 9% to 14% of the children born with a CHD and approximately 5 out of every 10,000 births (AHA, 2006a, b; National Heart Lung and Blood Institute [NHLBI], 2007). The need for primary care providers to manage the health of adolescents with TOF has developed as the population and lifespan of children born with TOF has increased. One of the most important roles of a primary care provider is to educate adolescents and their families to facilitate the achievement and maintenance of optimal health. This includes counseling adolescents, especially those living with TOF, of the importance of regular exercise and participation in sport activities as necessary factors for their physical, emotional, and social growth and development (Bar-Or & Rowland, 2004). Physical activity is also essential for the prevention of long-term cardiovascular and obesity-related health problems (AHA, 2006d). Primary care providers cannot assume the cardiologist has effectively provided this education. Unfortunately, the literature indicates adolescents with TOF do not feel well informed regarding their cardiac condition, their physical activity allowances, or possible physical limitations (Birks, Sloper, Lewin, & Parsons, 2006; Canobbio, 2001; Cheuk, Wong, Choi, Chau, & Cheung, 2004; Falk et...
