EXERICISE PAPER RETAIN, REFER, OR RELEASE
I will present three scenarios that have three different transition and ending processes. The first will be to retain the client for further treatment, the second is to refer him for an additional assessment, and the final ending will be to release the client from further treatment. Family support Services Center has made these recommendations and I will discuss whether I agree or disagree and why.
Tommy James Martin is the first client who is presented. Tommy is a 14-year-old single Caucasian male. He currently resides with his grandmother and sister. His grandmother and school officials have sought the assistance of Family Support Services Center to help him with a possible drug and alcohol addiction. He was recently expelled from school due to several incidents concerning suspicion of drug and alcohol abuse during school hours, on school property. After exploring his family situation, they counselor has learned that Tommy lost both his parents at a very young age. His sister and himself has lived with his grandmother ever since. According to his grandmother Tommy is a good student, however; he has been spending most of his time with friends, and never sees Tommy doing homework. She also believes he may have a girlfriend. The grandmother has also stated that this change in his attitude and behavior happened about a year ago when he started to hang out with his current circle of friends.
After Speaking with Tommy about his grandmother and school officials concerns, he says he is just having fun with his friends, and it is no big deal. He justifies his use of marijuana and alcohol by stating everyone is doing it, and it is not a problem. To make his grandmother and school officials
