I have conducted web analysis form exeutiveplanet.com, Amritt, Inc., and timeanddate.com, to enhance my report. They are all well-known and credible sources for international business conduct. Acceptance As a foreign woman, you will have some difficulty being accepted in an Indian organization, especially if you will be in the middle or higher management. The Indian society relates heavily to the inequalities of the powerful and wealthy members of society compared to the more social equality of our nation. The rank of the individual supersedes and notions of gender inequality are generally accepted. Also, there is a need to be sensitive to the cultural values that lend more to the value of a group as compared to our more individualistic society. Acceptable Public Behavior ‘Namaste’ is the traditional greeting accepted among all communities in India. It is the safest way to greet and is appreciated to be a gesture of friendliness. Holding your palms together in a prayer position, give slight bow. In Indian society, it is advisable to shake hands only when offered. As a female, since it involves physical touch, handshakes are not universally acceptable. Business Attire As a visiting female, conservative, though not formal, dress is advisable. Pant-suits or long skirts, below the knees, are acceptable. Neck lines...

...Sport must do more to fight homophobia. It is not in denial that homophobia is rampant in sports. However, as mentioned, sport is not doing what's needed to handle homophobic abuse. I think authorities should do something about the offenders. Some LGBTQ athletes are still in their closet because of fear to be discriminated. Even though the sporting world is slowly accepting LGBTQ athletes, only a few people feel that gays are “completely accepted” on the sporting field, while others have been subject to verbal and physical abuse for being homosexual. There are still some people who would bully or even verbally threaten them. But now, they’ve established what they called Gay or Pride Games. This sends a powerful message to the public that homophobia...

...“Homecoming” is to emphasise the emptiness and dullness of going to war and their homecoming. Bruce Dawes purpose in using repetition is to symbolise the repetition of war. This technique can effect the audience by creating an atmosphere of empathy for the people who go to war. From using repetition in words such as “ day after day”, Bruce constructs a mood of dullness. Soldiers aren’t appreciated When the soldiers came home to their homecoming, they were only met by dogs. “raise muzzles in mute salute”. This shows the meaningless of war and how soldiers weren’t given recognition for their war efforts. Dawe...

...Gene Forrester is the narrator and protagonist in A Separate Peace written by John Knowles. As the novel is written in a flashback format, Gene is encountering the story of his growth into adulthood and maturity at Devon School from his perspective. He somewhat directly encounters the reader with his fears, insecurities, attitude and much more. Because of his insecurities and the outsider feeling due to him being a southerner going to a northern state school, Gene saw everybody and everything as a threat or competition to him; which lead to his many impulses. As the flashback story begins Gene is displayed as a percipient, who would take all sides of the situation into consideration before acting onto a decision. He’s also the type of character that is studious, and always listening to the teacher; he obeys all and every rule there is. In the first few chapters after Gene and his best friend -Finny- arise from their sleep on the beach the morning Gene has his test, he returns to the school to take his trigonometry test, which he fails; hence he was unable to study the night before. When he...

...Motivation is the key to keeping employees interested in working hard and meeting daily demands from a company. In my point of view managers must be able to successfully motivate their employees in order to prevent high turnovers, satisfy employee needs, and keep an overall good reputation for the company. With a happy employee you will have happy customers as well. Motivational Strategies I believe that in order to properly motivate your employees a manager must first find out how and what different strategies will work for which employees. There are many ways to motivate workers, but I think there are more effective strategies that work on some workers than others. That being said I believe that managers must get on some sort of personal level with their workers in order to efficiently motivate them to work harder and reach the company’s goals. Money The most controversial idea of motivational strategies is money. I personally think that if an employee is not being paid what they believe to be suitable the will be unhappy regardless of any other motivator. Unless the need or want for money is being met, the employee will most likely feel unappreciated and unhappy regardless of any other motivation strategies that an employer might use. A personal example I would like to use is when I worked as a receptionist at Supercuts, I was held responsible for doing a lot of managerial work, without being compensated for it. I soon became overloaded with work, tired, and I was still...

...Being employed brings income, work relationships, accepted cultural and societal status, structured time use, a sense of purpose, feelings of productivity, affirmation of ability, and opportunities for development (Ennals, Fossey, Harvey, & Killackey, 2014). Truly, employment can be traced back to education where many of these values begin to develop. The cultural and societal values placed on employment are synonymous with values placed on balancing roles and responsibilities in the formative years. Structured time use and feelings of productivity are highly appreciated and replicated in an academic environment. The feelings present in a work environment are fostered in education; therefore, academic environments provide a unique practice ground for students with mental illness, and those without, to find themselves and their unique skill...

...ABSTRACT I always thought that job satisfaction is only the positive feelings that one has towards a job. Maybe it is because of the word satisfaction, which is defined as fulfillment of one's wishes, expectations, or needs, or the pleasure derived from this. However job satisfaction is not only positive feelings but also negative feelings that an individual has toward a job. There are many factors to consider when fulfilling job satisfaction. The five facets that JDI – Job Descriptive Index questionnaires uses to measure of job satisfaction are: the work itself – responsibility, interest, and growth; quality of supervision – technical help and social support; relationship with co workers – social harmony and respect; promotion opportunities – chances for further advancement; and pay – adequacy of pay and perceived equity vis-à-vis others. Judging by my experience I would have to say that these factors are accurate because these are the characteristics I reflect on when I consider job satisfaction. Entering the working world I was unaware of these facets, but as my work experience broadens I slowly realize what job satisfaction is to me. PROBLEM STATEMENT During this time of recession people are lucky enough to have work in this economy, yet more are becoming unhappy with their jobs. Based on a poll taken by Gallup, job satisfaction has been decreasing. According to a recent survey that was taken only 45% of respondents said they are happy with their employment situation...

...In his novel Tropic of Capricorn, Henry Miller writes, “To be accepted and appreciated you must nullify yourself, make yourself indistinguishable from the herd. You may dream, if you dream alike.” Life will always be about fitting into a "herd", making yourself "indistinguishable" from who you truly are. Giving up your dreams so you can "dream alike" the herd. However, being a part of the herd makes you not alone in your life and in your dreams. Brent Staples, the author of the essay "Black Men in Public Spaces", suggests that being in your own skin is not so conformable because of unconscious prejudice and stereotyping that still exist. Additionally, an episode from Black-ish, "The Name Game", portrays that society still beholds bias and...

...Charlotte Bronte was born in the mid 1800’s during the Victoria era. During that time, a person was measured by their wealth, social status, and physical beauty. For many years, women struggled with the definition of beauty. Does inner or outer beauty matter more? A female’s inner beauty has not always been appreciated by either sex, so women struggled to define it themselves. In literature, this is a commonly explored theme. In Jane Eyre, the protagonist Jane, abandons her desire for outer beauty and trades it for working on her inner qualities. She then sees herself as beautiful. She placed a higher value on her philosophy and knowledge before her value of outer appearances. The lessons from her childhood focused on outer beauty and were reinforced as she reached her adulthood. In each hardship Jane encountered, her inner beauty outweighed her external appearance. In the end, she was rewarded with a man who loves her for what she offered internally....

...Innovation from Google’s free food strategy Innovation from Google’s Free Food Strategy I would like to begin by saying that I am usually not jealous or envious of many people but I have to say I am actually jealous of all the googlers. That being said I know now if I was to ever own my business I will make sure to first read Laszlo Bock’s book “WORK RULES! INSIGHTS FROM INSIDE GOOGLE THAT WILL TRANSFORM HOW YOU LIVE AND LEAD” I believe this book can help transform the way we conduct our businesses and how we treat our employees. It’s the new way of looking at the workforce, the old view was to invest in your business and not employees but new view is when you invest in your employees the rest will follow. Google’s HR along with owners has proven this by providing the great perks like free food, free rides, dry cleaning services, great maternity leave and much more that happier employees leads to a productive workforce. Google’s business model is stated on their website as follows; “We strive to maintain the open culture often associated with startups, in which everyone is a hands-on contributor and feels comfortable sharing ideas and opinions. In our weekly all-hands (“TGIF”) meetings—not to mention over email or in the cafe—Googlers ask questions directly to Larry, Sergey and other execs about any number of company issues. Our offices and cafes are designed to encourage interactions between Googlers within and across teams, and to spark conversation about work...

...J K Jeniffer Strong English 1102 August 6, 2012 Perfection In today’s society perfection is a way of life. Living to someone else’s expectations for our looks, the way we behave and what we do can wreak havoc to one’s self-esteem. Celebrities, advertisements and television all show how these ideals of perfection shape our society to these narrow ideals of flawlessness. If pressured into this way of thinking, one could end up feeling alone and unwelcomed. In comparison, the narrator from “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and Georgiana from “The Birthmark” by Nathaniel Hawthorne both strive to live up to their husband’s expectation of what a woman should be. To keep to their perceptions set upon by their husbands; the narrator ends up going crazy whereas Georgiana and the loves she feels for her spouse, ends up dying to rid her of a hideous birthmark. The impacts in either story implicate the dire effects that society has to the overall ways this perception is used. During the 1800’s women were expected to act a certain way as dictated by their husbands. They were the property of their husbands, once they were married, and were treated as such. The narrators husband was a “physician of high standing” (Gilman), and Georgiana’s husband who was considered “a man of science” (225), both considered to be of a higher class. Being proper in both physical and metal capacities was one of the conditions that they were held to respectively. Couple this with the masculine...

...was an amazing video and that Richard Lavoie should win an award, if he hasn’t already. In this reaction paper, I’ll review some of the same difficulties that I went through as a younger student. I will also describe how this video has impacted me and what I will take away from this video. Also, what will be discussed are three accommodations that I saw in the video. Lastly what will be discussed is my definition of fairness as taken from the video, along with an event in my educational history where I’ve appreciated an accommodation. This is what my reaction paper will consist of. In my first paragraph, I will discuss some of the same difficulties that I went through that Mr. Lavoie described in the video. The first one that really grabbed my attention is when he was asking the questions about the various movies in which involve a pig. Once he asked this question, and he got his first “I don’t know” answer, he accepted it. Since he accepted this answer from one student, the next three students thought that it was acceptable to respond with the same answer. I too have went through this as a student. Once I found out that the teacher would accept my “I don’t know” as an answer, the more I’d respond in this manner. I did this for as long as I can remember unless I was 100% sure that my answer was correct. Nothing was done on the part of the instructor in order to get me to try and expand or fix this problem. I got over this problem when I recognized...

...CHAPTER I Introduction to the Study This chapter has eight parts: (1) Background of the Study, (2) Statement of the Problem, (3) Hypotheses, (4) Theoretical Framework, (5) Conceptual Framework, (6) Significance of the Study, (7) Scope and Limitations of the Study, and (8) Definitions of Terms. Background of the Study A laudable goal of elementary education is one that embraces pupils learning and helps prepare those pupils for a very competitive global society. In light of this one can argue that pupils’ achievement should be the main focus of every individual associated with school systems across our great nation. Teachers are a vital part of the educational system for they provide the motivation and support that pupils need in order to succeed. Yet, teachers also need to be motivated and supported in order to be productive. Teacher morale could suffer due to constant stress of trying to meet the educational goals. Improving teacher morale has many benefits in that it can help teachers to maintain a positive attitude and be happier at work (Govindarajan, 2012). Ellanberg as cited by Govindarajan (2012) found that where morale was high, schools showed an increase in pupils’ academic achievement. Conversely, low levels of morale can lead to decreased teacher productivity and burnout. Recent studies found out that the academic achievement of pupils in the Division of Antique did not meet the standard set by the Department of Education (Arguelles, 2012; Ople,2012; Doronila...
