Business Model and Strategic Plan, Part 1:

Caesar’s Entertainment

BUS/475

October 18, 2015

Caesar’s Entertainment: Sportsmen’s Lodge

Caesar’s Entertainment is well known as a hotel and casino chain. “Since its beginning in Reno, Nevada, more than 77 years ago, Caesars has grown through development of new resorts, expansions and acquisitions, and now operates casinos on three continents,” ("Caesar's Entertainment", 2015). The corporation has built up customer loyalty over the years by providing quality services and accommodations. However, many families with children will choose somewhere that is more kid-friendly. The following plan outlines how a new division of Caesar’s Entertainment, hence forward called “Sportsmen’s Lodge,” will cater to the whole family, and especially for outdoorsmen; not just the casinos that the chain is famous for, and Caesar’s Entertainment’s will of course keep up its high standards for customer service and satisfaction. A plan of this type could use a beta test, such as just one location, or as an addition to an existing location. For this purpose, Beckley, West Virginia will be the site for the project from the ground up; meaning that there is not currently a Caesar’s Entertainment facility at that location. How can you create an introduction that provides background, which funnels into your thesis statement? This is great information, but it is more of a company background section as opposed to a formal introduction.
Mission Statement: “Sportsmen’s Lodge” One specific area that could be expanded upon is an all-inclusive family resort with something for everyone; even the family pets! In particular, for the outdoor lovers, the new resort would offer all of the upscale amenities standard as Caesar’s Entertainment, but also the opportunity for other activities such as hunting and fishing, and other outdoor activities. Again, this is great information, but it really isn’t a mission statement. You want to create a mission statement suitable for publication on your website.
“Sportsmen’s Lodge: a Caesar’s Entertainment Subsidiary” The “Sportsmen’s Lodge” will be an all-inclusive resort with activities and amenities that will keep the whole family happy. Every family has had conversations at one time or another about where a vacation should be spent and what to do while there. Then there is the task of finding a place for the family pets to stay while their family is gone—but many families do not want to leave their beloved “furry” children. Vacationing at “Sportsmen’s Lodge” will be the perfect option for every family member because of the added amenities. The “Sportsmen’s Lodge” division will both address customer needs while also achieving competitive advantage. This new division will take “all-inclusive” to a whole new level. Nowhere else, at least no one in the US, caters to any type of guests, human or other. Excellent information – great level of detail.
Vision: “Sportsmen’s Lodge” Located in the beautiful scenic Beckley, West Virginia, there will be plenty of activities to participate in. Of course, there will be a casino, there will be the usual spa for Mom, with an indoor, year-round theme park for the kids with childcare provided. Dads will enjoy the hunting and fishing amenities offered to them, as well as other outdoors activity. A vision is a future focused, strategically positioned statement. This describes available amenities.
“Sportsmen’s Lodge”: Looking Forward In the main building, the rooms will be decorated like cabins, with “tents” over the children’s beds. The cottages built separately will be log cabins, and they will be set in the wooded area immediately surrounding the hotel. The hotel will provide hunting and fishing guides for the guests that know the area well. A concierge will be provided as well to provide anything the guests want. This location will be set near the scenic New River. There are year-round opportunities in the area, besides just hunting and fishing. In the warm weather, there is whitewater rafting and a racetrack. In the fall, the colors are beautiful when the leaves change. “The New River Gorge Bridge is located on U. S. Route 19, just north of Fayetteville, WV. It is easily reached from Interstates 64, 77, & 79 and from U. S. Route 60 (Midland Trail). It is approximately 30 minutes north of Beckley, 70 minutes east of Charleston, and 70 minutes south of Interstate 79. On the north side of the bridge, Canyon Rim Visitor Center provides outstanding overlooks of the bridge, ("New River Gorge", 2015). The Fayette Station Road boasts some fantastic views from underneath the bridge. Every October, there is a “Bridge Day.” The New River Gorge Bridge is a popular tourist attraction in itself because of its height from the ground (the height is almost 900 feet). In the winter months, aside from hunting, there is also skiing. In the warmer months there are hiking trails and whitewater rafting tours. The third Saturday of every October is “Bridge Day,” which is a day when they allow bungee jumping, there are zip lines, and parachutes, etc. West Virginia University is also nearby, so there are sports games also to watch.
Conclusion
Many people would not choose a smallish town in West Virginia for their vacation destination, but that will be the beauty of the plan; sort of a hidden gem. However, the new addition will still uphold the high standards of customer service that Caesar’s Entertainment is known for. This takes “family vacation” to a whole new level, because there truly is something for everyone. A conclusion should summarizes your key points and make a final point for reflection.

Course Project

...gives students the opportunity to synthesize all of the concepts in the BUSN319 Marketing course by applying them to develop a comprehensive marketing plan for a new business, product, or service. Introduction Product innovation and marketing are the only enduring competitive advantages that companies can use to survive and thrive in the marketplace. In the next 7 weeks, you are going to participate in designing and writing a marketing plan for a business, product, or service of your choosing. Your active participation in this project, first, is essential to building your understanding of marketing; secondly, you can use a well-written marketing plan to show prospective employers a sample of your work. A marketing plan is a guide for the marketing activities of an organization for a specified period of time, typically about 5 years (note: usually 6 mo, one year). The plan can be used internally to guide the marketing activities or it can be used to communicate with external audiences to raise capital. There are important questions to keep in mind as you design the plan. 1. Is the marketing idea valid? 2. What is unique or distinctive about the product or service that separates it from substitutes and competitors? 3. Does a viable market exist for the product or service? 4. Are the financial projections sound? 5. Is the management team competent? 6. How will the investors get their money back with a return on investment? In order to help you answer...
