And dying,” Paper magazine’s Kim Hastreiter says halfway through the tour of her Super (Duper) Market, which will be open Friday through the weekend in Manhattan’s meatpacking district. She is completely elated and, more important, satiated, by what’s in store: “The best ice cream (Humphry Slocombe), the best cornbread (Red Rooster), the best olive oil (Sciabica’s),” she says. Here, at what is a smorgasbord of carefully procured and exquisitely packaged food stuff, all the stars of Hastreiter’s bicoastal culinary-craft world collide. The vendors hail mostly from Brooklyn (Empire Mayonnaise, Morris Kitchen, Mile End) and California’s Bay Area (Boulettes Larder, Modern Appealing Clothing, Tartine Bakery and Cafe). “I’m kind of a maven, and these are really my favorite things,” says Hastreiter pointing to the Tang Brothers noodle stand. “Those are, like, the best noodles.” Walk through the mart and you might sample homemade mozzarella on honey-drizzled toast from the Cobble Hill restaurant Brucie, buy a Sol LeWitt star bowl (Hastreiter’s pick) at...

Prevention is key, inorder to do this you have to see what methods have worked in the past and which ones didnt. You can do this by calling other schools, and even other proffetional level teams to try and ask them for advise. Also in prevention you need to get people involved such as law inforcement the teachers the students, and other community figures to spread the word about respectful behavior during a game. ...Memo of Advice Dear Andrew, Regarding your dilemma concerning paying the $1,000.00 fine or defending the charge in court, I believe that you will be better off paying the fine, as opposed to the high likelihood that if you go to court, you may be fined an even greater amount – a fine not exceeding $5,000.00. The situation is currently not in your favor and it would be difficult to swing the jury to your side. On the 1st December 2010, you collected and drove a truckload of contaminated soil from Melville and parked it there overnight. Although you intended to drive it away to a remote waste dump the next day, you were in breach of section three of the Contamination Avoidance Act due to the fact that the toxic waste was in the vicinity of the Swan River. A municipal inspector discovered your breach of the law and made a report to the Police, which subsequently led to charges being brought upon you. The facts of the case in dispute are namely whether or not leaving the toxic waste near the river overnight is considered storing, and whether you were really in breach of the Act. The fact that you were carrying toxic waste that might cause harm to the surroundings or compromise water resources is indisputable. Even more so because the offence was committed near the Swan River, to make matters worse, you did not own a permit for it as well. Since this issue took place in Welshpool, which is in Western Australia, the Contamination Avoidance Act applies. In addition, since this...

...to its toxic pesticides. The judge found Gray guilty and imposed fines of $15 million. Gray voluntarily set up a charitable fund of $8 million with the intent of bettering the environment. Gray incurred legal expenses in its defense and in setting up the foundation. The court later reduced the fine from the initial $15 million to $7 million. Gray deducted the $8 million for the foundation along with legal expenses incurred. The IRS disallowed both deductions on the grounds that these funds were a fine and in violation of public policy. In regards to your question of the deductibility of these items, $8 million for the foundation and legal expenses, and the $7 million fine §§162 (a) and (f) Trade Business Expenses states “No deduction shall be allowed under subsection (a) for any fine or similar penalty paid to a government for the violation of any law.” Section 1.162-21(b), Treasury Regulations, further provides: (1) For purposes of this section a fine or similar penalty includes an amount —…(iii) Paid in settlements of the taxpayer's actual or potential liability for a fine or penalty (civil or criminal). The preceding Internal Revenue Code disallows the reduced $7 million fine made by the judge, a government official, in regards to the fine as a result of statutory violations. Congress specifically enacted §162(f) in order to codify prior judicial decisions disallowing business expense deductions for fines and penalties resulting from statutory violations. In regards...

...Distracted Driving has been an on-going issue; committed by both veteran and beginner drivers. Multiple states including Florida have begun fining those who are caught texting and driving in order to reduce the numbers of those injured and/or killed due to distracted drivers. Alaska being the highest with a ten-thousand dollar fine; while Florida is one of the lowest with a 35 dollar fine. Many oppose these laws, claiming that if you’re a good enough driver, you can text while driving and not get into an accident. However, this is still not enough proof or a reason to stop fining those who are caught, because over 330,000 people in the U.S. are still dying by text related accidents. Something that has been helping combat this problem however, are Public Service Announcements (PSA’S). Whether it be a story of a...

Introduction One question that most people usually ask themselves when asked about the history of arts is whether art can have a history. Yes, art has a long history, older than most if not all individuals currently living on earth. Most people think of it as being timeless because art has remained beautiful and attractive since the Old Stone Age. Individuals enjoy looking at arts for its own sake not knowing that they may have a significant meaning and the knowledge of its context inasmuch as viewers from different generations and cultures may see same artworks and interpret them differently from the previous generations. ...Cultural Analysis The marketer needs basic information to evaluate a country market’s potential, identify problems that would eliminate a country from further consideration, identify aspects of a country’s environment for possible adaptation, and develop a strategic market approach. One further use of the information collected in the preliminary analysis (cultural analysis) is as a basis for country notebook. A country notebook includes a Cultural Analysis, Economic Analysis, Market Audit and Competitive Market Analysis. The data suggested in the cultural analysis includes information that helps the marketer make market-planning decisions. However, its application extends beyond product and market analysis to being an important source of information for someone interested in understanding business customs and other important cultural features of the country. The information in this analysis must be more than a collection of facts. You need to interpret the meaning of cultural information. That is, how does the information help in understanding the effect on the market? For example, the fact that almost all the populations of Italy and Mexico are Catholic is an interesting statistic but not nearly as useful as understanding the effect of Catholicism on values, beliefs, and other aspects of market behavior. Furthermore, even though both countries are predominantly Catholic, the influence of their individual and unique interpretation and practice of Catholicism can result in important...
