Fundado por inmigrantes cubanos del estado de Florida.

Se dedican a la mezcla, fraccionamiento y distribución de productos químicos para pequeñas industrias.
Posee una planta de gran tamaño en Ft. Laurderdale.

2. Producción

Sus productos requieren un envasado de alta calidad debido al contenido toxico.
Se recubre el interior de los envases con un material llamado LKT, que es un anti-corrosivo.
Los envases son retornables.
Poseen un depto dedicado exclusivamente a mantener el buen estado de estos envases, y fabricarlos nuevos si se deterioran más allá de reparación.

3. Análisis del Director Gral. John Ferrero

Piensa que la empresa ahorraría dinero si subcontratan la provisión y mantenimiento de los envases con un proveedor externo.
Mandó a cotizar a una empresa especializada en envases de seguridad, con excelente reputación dentro del mercado EEUU, llamada American Standard.

4. La Cotización

Se propone un contrato de provisión exclusivo por 6 años con posibilidad de prorrogas anuales.
La exclusividad por los primeros 6 años se basa en la inversiones que el proveedor debe afrontar para la operación de FS.
Se oferta un precio de $38 por envase, sobre una base de 5000 envases anuales precisados por la empresas.
Si aumentara la demanda de envases a futuro se mantendría el valor unitario.
Para mantener los envases la oferta anual era de $ 63000, con la opción de contratar ambos servicios, generando una bonificación del 3% del valor total o a c/u de ellos por separado.

5. Información para la decisión

La maquina utilizada para producir nuevos envases habia costado dos años atrás $142.000.
El valor de compra actual se mantenía. Valor de reventa luego de dos años: $51.000
Debido a que el LKT es importado de Suecia, se compraban partidas que duraban un largo periodo.
Las existencias de 100 tn. alcanzaban para dos años produciendo a una cap. Standard.
Ese stock era parte de una compra de hacia dos años atrás por $550/tn. ($55.000)
En la actualidad el valor comercial oscilaba los $650/tn.
Liquidar las existencias les dejaba un valor de $450 después de gastos y traslado.
El espacio que ocupaba el depto de envases era un tema importante.
Había déficit de espacio considerable, con lo cual tuvieron que alquilar otras propiedades para ampliar su capacidad.
En caso de suprimir el depto de envases, el especio liberado se utilizaría para almacenaje de producto final ahorrándose un alquiler de $9.500 anuales.
Cerrar el depto de envases produciría un ahorro del 10%.

6. Reestructuración de Personal

El jefe del depto de envases Peter García seria trasladado como jefe de depto de Expedición con la misma remuneración (el actual se jubilaba el mes siguiente).
John Ferrero negociaría con American Standard la incorporación de los trabajadores cesanteados.
Si un trabajador era mayor de 55 años lo cual lo hacia difícil de ser contratado por el proveedor se le pagaría una asignación anual de $6.000 hasta su jubilación 5 años después.

7. Plan Alternativo

Comprar los envases nuevos al proveedor y realizar el mantenimiento internamente
No seria necesario usar la maquina.
La supervisión de este proceso a cargo de un capataz costaría $16.000 anuales.
Se utilizaria 1/5 de la M.O. dándole prioridad a los más antiguos.
No se ahorraria espacio fisico ni gastos grales.
Se utilizarian materiales por un costo anual equivalente al 10% del actual. Para el mantenimiento no es necesario el LKT.
Los demás gastos ascenderían a $5.500 anuales.
