When some people think of Girl Scouts, they think of Thin Mints, camping, and crafts. However, as a Girl Scout, my Gold Award was the most impactful project that I completed. I spent a summer building cold frames that would insulate the garden beds of a nonprofit organization called Arm in Arm in Trenton, NJ. Many services are offered for families and individuals in need, like food stability and employment preparation. Their food pantry carries a lot of nonperishable foods and some fresh produce that is grown in their garden adjacent to the building.
