I had a wonderful opportunity to attend an AVID road trip. I was allowed to visit eleven colleges and universities. I had a great time those four days and it was very helpful. Since I am the first of my family to attend college this gave me a small feel of the schools. I had the most amazing time with friends and volunteers. When we first got here it was very fun and we got to visit many places. What I enjoyed the most was having to change the way we acted. We had to be more professional, byt being more respectful at the colleges and the hotels that we stayed at. I had no idea that these sort of things had something different to do with ones self. I do believe that coming here has inspired me to be more successful in life. I have been the oldest daughter in the family and I do feel the pressure of having to go through all this. Colleges can be done differently and the way that things have changed really gave me a different feel of the school. I also enjoyed the students that shared this experience with me. Most of us got even closer and now I can call them my second family. Since we had to be in hotels together and be in a bus the whole way it was interesting how people can act throughout the days. I know that I really missed my family, but at the same time I was having the time of my life. Not to mention that in our tours since my teachers had older students tour us around, some let us go inside their dorms. I thought that was amazing. We not only read the fact about the schools and what they offered, but we got to have a sense of the areas and how it would feel to be living in some of those places. I had many colleges that I really and enjoyed and my top schools were San Fransisco, Fresno, and UC Merced.

...approximated by using a focus group, consisting of four learning team members. Constructs, such as tuition cost, travel expense and resource expense data from each subject will be explored. In order to effectively measure the information obtained from the focus group, controls are implemented on the data. This study assumes that each student travels to and from the campus twice a week. The first trip is made to attend class and the second trip is made so that each student can participate in a physical learning team meeting. Since the duration of each class is five weeks in length, the analysis used is based on 10 trips to the University of Phoenix campus. Each student will complete 10 courses per calendar year. The distance involved in traveling to the campus will be measured by mileage, price of gasoline, and tolls. Another measurement is tuition cost per course. The constructs for the tuition cost include tuition reimbursement and out-of-pocket expense. Travel expenses were calculated based on current gasoline average cost of $2.69 per gallon. Mileages per gallon calculations were based on 17 miles per gallon of gasoline from participant’s home to the University of Phoenix’s Bucks County campus and their return trip to home. Subject one, Tyra, travels round trip from New Jersey to Pennsylvania twice per week for school. That travel translates into 25 miles per day or 250 miles per course. Tyra’s gasoline expenditure is $3.95 per day which equates into $39.50 per course. She...

...A Trip of a Lifetime Is this really happening? Are we actually here? No, we can’t be…, but we are. If you were to tell me two years ago that I would go on this trip, that I would be there, and see the place in person, I would have laughed and think that you were crazy. I look back at it now, still wondering if I actually went there. It was that amazing, that I still question it, even though it happened almost a year ago. I will tell this story, the story of my trip to the bloody battle fields that held hundreds of soldiers, where you can still feel the sorrow of the deaths, where you might hear battle cries, and even see those famous blue and grey uniforms on ghostly soldiers. Gettysburg! It all started with my mother talking about some insane idea to go on a trip back east. She said that we would someday go on this trip, maybe within year or two. I thought it was never going to happen. Three months later, those months filled with talk about it, my mom told me that we would go in April. I could hardly believe what she was telling me. I didn’t believe it so much, that, on April first I thought she was going to say, “April Fools! We aren’t really going on the trip”. That never happened though, and before I knew it we were going on the long plane and train ride. Yes, I said planes and trains. This trip consisted of all transportations, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. It was really crazy. We even time traveled! Well, not...

...housing technology will be a good idea to integrate. Accessing important customer information for analyses, It is found that all of Ian Resorts’ traditional lines of business has its own best and worst selling products. However the data varies at different period of the year. The company cannot determine vital information such as which customers are golfing and staying at the hotel or which customers are staying at the hotel and not golfing. For example, the three details that the customer Diego Titus ( 1) stayed four nights at an Ian Resorts’ managed hotel, ( 2) golfed three days, and ( 3) took an all- day spa treatment the first day are discrete facts housed in separate systems.   Ian Resorts hopes that by using data warehousing technology to integrate its data, the next time Diego reserves lodging for another trip, sales associates may ask him if he would like to book a spa treatment as well, and even if he would like the same masseuse that he had on his prior trip. Ian Resorts is excited about the possibility of taking advantage of customer segmentation and CRM strategies to help increase its business.TO: Joshua Todd FROM: Rajson Solomon DATE: January 31,2013 SUBJECT: Inputs for the CRM strategic initiative. We worked on team building and becoming a tight group, slowly developing into a family. We knew what was going on in each others lives; And knew that this trip would test each of us in a difficult way. Departure day had finally arrived. Throughout the flight to Miami we talked about what it would be like when we arrived and how the people would respond to us. After landing in Miami We waited a few hours for a small plane that would connect us to Santa Domingo. This flight was very different. By now we were all on edge; feelings of impatience and anxiousness set in. Our unexcpeting group arived in Santa Domingo durring a typical power outage, the first of many throughout the coming week. Each day was a new adventure, filled with fun, friendship, and humbling experiences. The people were full of love and life. I met two men Rowel and Josueph, who have changed my life forever. They acted like brothers, showing me their hobbies and talents, and their every day lives. Each day with them gave me a rush of joy and a sense of accomplishment. I felt loved like a family member. I traveled to help build a gym for their church. But at the end of the trip, they were the ones who changed my life forever. They impacted...

Choir Trips

...Lynsey Chapman Comp 1 Instructor: Newell Essay 2 Choir trips to New York City and Orlando During my four years in high school I participated in choir. Because of insufficient funds our school isn’t able to send both our band and choir each year, so our choir had a chance to go on a trip every other year. My sophomore year we went to Orlando Florida, and my senior year we went to New York City. While both trips were fun, the Florida trip was more focused on the competition and the New York trip was more sightseeing. To raise money for the trips, we had to do many fundraisers. These fundraisers included That’s my Pan, where you can choose what kind of pan you want, the color of the lid and also the design and saying on the lid. There is also personalized utensils you can get and cutting boards. We also sold pizzas, candy, chocolate, and cookie dough. We also had a car wash to raise money. On the Florida trip it was nice to have more freedom to go where we wanted to go. During that week, we stayed at one of the hotels on Disney world grounds so we were able to get up when we wanted and take a bus to which resort we wanted to go explore. During the Florida trip, we spent most of our time at the resorts but we slept in when we could. When we went to each of the resorts, to be safe we had to be in a group of three or four people. If something happened at any of the resorts during the whole week, there were a couple chaperones assigned to be at each resort. When we were in Florida...

Camping Trip

...great learning experience to spend some quality time together. We were going on a camping trip. My dad is not the outsider type of man. My Mother pack us delicious subs because of this and that she doesn't like hunting. My brother just doesn't like the outdoors. Me and my brother were just wasn't this was for us but I was more pessimistically at the trip then My brother was. He thought if you try something completely out of your element, you'll will have a bad time. Realizing that I never went camping before I was anxious to learn the ropes of a hunter like what we used to do to survive before everything was given to us on a silver platter. I would have to hunt with a bow. But we all know I couldn't. We stocked up on interesting books to get lost in and relaxing sleeping bags to take off the edge and nap. We packed up the Van were we were the only other things that can fit into it and we were off. A friend of the family recommended the campsite and also he going on his own camping trip with his family so we decided to follow him since he had the directions and also he was on his own camping trip with his family. We traveled up interstate 75 into Maine because our campground was Recompence Shore Campground . Fashion of Fraud

...span, by submitting travel and expense reimbursements. She committed this fraud by using several different expense reimbursement schemes. There are four methods of reimbursement schemes; mischaracterized expense reimbursements, overstated expense reimbursements, fictitious expense reimbursements, and multiple reimbursements. In this case schemes such as multiple reimbursements, mischaracterized expense reimbursements, and fictitious reimbursements were present. Donnelly and four other employees from her department submitted expenses multiple times for reimbursement. They would submit American Express bills for reimbursement instead of submitting detailed receipts of individual expenses. Further review showed that employees were submitting the same expenses twice by submitting one month of charges, then submitting the subsequent month with the old charges and new charges combined with late fees. Throughout the investigation auditors also discovered that employees were submitting the same receipt multiple times but altered the size of the tip and total amount on each of the documents. In addition they found multiple taxi receipts that had sequential trip numbers on the same day from the same taxi. It appears that these expenses were fictitious because the numbers were altered, and the receipts had sequential trip numbers on the same day from the same taxi. The employees performed steps from...

Decision Under Certainty

...Decision: To purchase or not purchase rental car insurance In December of 2011, I will be traveling to Salem, Oregon to celebrate Christmas with my family. I have decided to stay for Christmas in Salem, Oregon for a week. The total trip is exactly a 1000 mile down the Interstate 5 highway each way from Oceanside, California to Salem, Oregon, and vice versa with a total of 2000 miles round trip. However, the expenses identified with air travel versus driving, I made my final decision to drive to Salem, Oregon, in a rental vehicle and not my car. Enterprise Rental is the one company that I choose that has a good rental plan at $9.99 a day for a weekend rate of three days. Because I am an excellent client with the company. Enterprise Rental has extended the weekend rate of three days to four days as an award of my loyalty as a client to the company for many years. Any extra days after the four days, the company will charge the $15.99 per day of the standard rate. This eliminates the taxes and insurance included with the daily rate. Taxes are naturally $3.00 dollars per day and will eliminate for this purpose of my decision. However, the insurance has no deductible per occurrence at $12.99 per day, which is included in this decision (Mankiw, G., 2003). My privately owned vehicle has an insurance policy that covers both comprehensive and collision claims and brings in a $500.00 deductible per occurrence. To make a final decision in purchasing the rental companies insurance...

Correlation vs Causation

...a true cause and effect connection between variables exists, or is it just a statistical relationship known as correlation. While there may be correlation between variables, there is not a causal relationship unless the variation in the independent variable or variables actually causes the variation in the dependent variable. Often correlation is misinterpreted as causation, as is the case in the examples presented in this essay. The first example is from a journal article that says watching TV increases a persons risk of heart disease and non-cancer related deaths. The second two examples are related to transportation, one saying that speeding causes car crashes and the other saying population in a traffic analysis zone (TAZ) causes trips produced. Although correlation is necessary it is not sufficient, it is important that a true causal relation exists before making conclusions. Body (Example A) The first study is presented in the journal, Circulation-Journal of the American Heart Association with the title, Television Viewing time and Mortality: The Australian Diabetes, Obesity and Lifestyle Study (AusDiab). The baseline data for the study was gathered between the years of 1999 and 2000. The locations for data collection were chosen based on Census Collector Districts in each of the Australian states and in the Northern Territory of Australia. In all 28,033 houses were approached in the selected clusters. Of these households, 8,800 adults greater than 25 years...
