Besides the huge number of rooms that costumers will find in the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, they should also have other facilities that they might want to know about. Bally's Total Fitness

...and health and fitness clubs will continue to rise. Therefore, my paper will cover the critical concepts as it relates to Bally Total Fitness Case Study. I will highlight Bally’s history, macro environment, SWOT analysis, corporate-level strategy, business-level strategy, and my recommendation for Bally Total Fitness. History, Development, and Growth Dave “Wild man” Wildman is said to be the founder of Bally Fitness, but it was Raymond T. (Ray) Moloney back in the early 1930’s who decided to create an affordable past time of pinball. Anyone could play pinball at the price of seven balls for one cent or 10 balls for a nickel. In January of 1932, Ray founded the popular past time while working under Lion Manufacturing in Chicago. The Ballyhoo pinball game was easy to make and very profitable. With the creation of the “Goofy,” the “Airway,” the “Rocket,” and the “Bumper” pinball machines, Bally Manufacturing, under Moloney’s leadership, took off. Bally Manufacturing headquarters remained in Chicago at the same address for almost 50 years. In 1936, Bally Manufacturing developed the automatic dice machine named “Reliance”. This development was an overnight success and prompted further delving into the three wheeled slots, and the newest addition the “Bally Baby.” The “Bally Baby” was a five by seven inch, eight pound slot machine which drove Moloney deeper into the gaming arena. Prompted by the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, Moloney stopped all gaming...

Birmingham Amusement Machines

...Birmingham Amusement Machines Birmingham Amusement Machines was a company which manufactured gaming and video-amusement machines. The company sold its products to an operating company which distributed them to bars, country clubs, casinos and pubs. Both companies were started by Bob Greenwood, an engineer who was fascinated by the design of the early mechanical gaming machines. Largely through innovative design, the company had grown to be one of the four largest in the market with a 30 per cent market share. Four years ago Bob Greenwood sold out to a large industrial group, but he was retained as chief executive of the manufacturing company. The new owners were happy to let Bob indulge his talent for design, especially since the company had entered the video-amusement market. Video-amusement machines did not pay out cash prizes like gaming machines, but allowed the player time on the machine to play a game, usually with a theme drawn from the ‘Wild West’ or ‘Interplanetary Space Warfare’. The company manufactured all parts for the gaming machines and assembled them in its factory. However, many of the components for the video-amusement machines were imported and only assembled into the outer casings in the factories. Recently, the owners became dissatisfied with the company’s performance. The market for its goods was still growing, but the company’s profitability had failed to match expectations. The owners decided to install a new chief executive and to...

Feasibility

...research design and methodology. 1.1 Background and Rationale of the Study Airsoft is one of the newest and fastest growing sport in the Philippines. It is somewhat similar to paintball in that your primary goal is to shoot your opponent with an air-powered weapon but that is where the similarities end. Most paintballers play in small field with brightly colored flashy uniforms. Airsofter's on the other hand prefer MilSim (Military Simulation). Devised to be an example of combat sports that required relatively little preparation but was capable of entertaining participants for several hours, the sport quickly began to spread, and is today found in many places around North America and Europe. Airsoft enthusiasts tend to organize clubs that are referred to as meetings, and often structure their games along military lines. However, there are airsoft meetings that specialize in historical reenactments of famous battles, as well as some meetings that provide choreographed simulations for the wider community. Outdoor fields are often preferred because it provides a more realistic environment. It is also a great place for items that may end up in the dump to be recycled as course obstacles and structures. When shooting outside, environmentally friendly ammunition should be used to avoid build up on the outdoor airsoft field. Weather conditions may cause an outdoor field to be closed and unavailable. People love airsoft for the fact that it is so realistic. The scenarios...

...Club IT may be doing an outstanding job as beginners in the the world of information systems but advancement of the business in particular areas could help it to improve. As with any new company an evaluation must be done to consider what should be introduced, what should be changed, and what should be eliminated completely. In this case, Club IT could stand to improve with resources, customers, and its supply chain. Enabling a Joint Application Design (JAD) method to enhance their systems development would implement the needs and desires of the Club IT clientele in addition to its staff. However, if Club IT expects to acquire an advantage over competing businesses by engaging in e-commerce, it is vital that they take the  proper steps to instill into their business information system.  The most distinct problem with Club IT is that is has less than superior internet connection. Presently, Club IT functions through a dial-up connection. Though dial-up connections are substantially less costly for the business as opposed to the more effective high speed connections, they are considerably slow (Turban, 2009). Although it may seem as if Club IT is cutting costs by paying for the cheaper dial-up connection, it is probable that the savings are not as considerable as thought. Dial-up connections are dependent upon the use of a particular phone line, it is unlikely that the business can make calls when the internet is being used. Having to install an additional phone line to mitigate...

Club It Part2

...Club IT has done a wonderful job building their business. They have made it into one of the hottest new spots. However, their information systems need to be improved. The status of Club IT will be evaluated through information gathered on the website and interviews. Three business problems and the solutions, an evaluation of Club IT's resources, customers, and supply chain, and how various departments can uses these solutions will be discussed in following paragraphs. There are a couple business problems that should be fixed to improve Club IT. First and foremost, the internet connection needs to be upgraded. Switching from the dial-up connection to high-speed internet connection will be a little a little bit more expensive. It may seem like they are saving money with sticking with dial-up but they lose a lot of valuable time waiting for the connection. Dial--up also requires a phone line. High-speed internet does not. Another problem that can be changed to improve Club IT is the latency which is associated with the dial-up connection. High latency can make any type of video conferencing or online gaming very difficult, or almost unattainable. By upgrading to high-speed internet this problem will be fixed. Club IT will have more potential with this upgrade (Rainer & Turban, 2008). The customers must be happy for a business to be successful. However, most of the customers use the internet regularly. Customers are not as connected as they could be to Club IT. There should...
