What is it that we look for in a leader today? Is it someone who can rule over a country? Someone who has a great face value that can represent our country? Or can we still look for a person who can guide the whole nation to prosperity?
Gone are the days when an era of leaders like Lincoln, Gorbachev or Gandhi defined a nation. They had certain ideals that they proposed to the people of the country and they truly proved time and again, to stand by it and work for it. Even Hitler for that matter fits into the definition of a leader. And where have we reached now? We are truly a pauper nation today when we think of the leaders that ‘lead’ India. Do we have one person who can stand out amidst the one billion Indians and be a leader in its true sense? Ha. It is rightly said that beggars can’t be choosers. From one inefficient government to the other we move without any choice. Well, technically we do have a choice. We get to pick the inefficiency level we are ready to live with.
Politics is a game of course. Everyone knows that. But when you play with the lives of thousands of people, the players lose their sportsmanship- be it corruption, where thousands of crores of rupees are stolen and stashed away into the Bade Miyas’ deep pockets, or atrocities like genocide, which shockingly is even justified by some of the fundamentalist leaders. How such people live without the constant pricking of their conscience is something I can never fathom!
In the months prior to the elections we have quite a show in almost all parts of the country. It’s that time again when parties rush to secure a comfortable and cushiony place for themselves in the Government . Indeed it is from there that these Netas can make their own lives comfortable and make a mockery out of the Government. It is amazing that the Netajis see all the problems of the people during the period before the elections. I wonder how they are even inclined to toiling in the sun for long hours holding rallies, making innumerous false promises, pointing fingers at other parties, displaying the pretense of empathizing with the less fortunate, enticing the audience with the lucrative illusions of a brighter tomorrow ( well it is extended to its literal sense these days-All are promising to provide electricity everywhere these days) and of course, wiping out all the miseries that the rival parties have inflicted upon the people. It’s not even entertaining to listen to the ad nauseam speeches intoned by the contenders anymore. It’s all so predictable. So they’re going to give me water and electricity for 5 years. They’re going to generate employment for everyone to sustain themselves. At times the talk is so bizarre that my TV has to bear my pangs of frustration. Can any one of them talk about how they are going to generate electricity for the whole country? With the exponential rise in population how exactly are all these promising jobs going to generated on a 1:1 ratio? What’s the rationale behind these promises?? It’s easy to talk volumes. But they forget that actions speak louder than words.
Well, it’s safe to say that we aren’t hoping for a Lincoln anymore. Even if the leaders don’t do any good to the nation, they should just try not to leave it in ruins. The fame, power and the money earned in this game is really not worth it. For a start, these leaders of tomorrow may please recollect what is said about Karma. And if they realize that it’s not a true leader’s feat to fool the innocent and hopeful multitude to gather their ticket to the throne of power, we may stand a chance for a brighter tomorrow.
What remains to be seen is if the grand show this time is going to be a spectacle or a debacle.

Lcc Speaking Model

...relationship between S and other components The relationship between S and P The large factory allow the accommodation of great number of audience and cadidates. The relationship between S and E The informality contributes to jokes made by MCs for entertainment. Thus, it fulfills the purpose of the audience to kill time by watching the show. The relationship between S and A Subject to the low formality, the order of certain parts of speech acts is not fixed. For example, the sequence of talent show, swimsuit show and question and answer session can be arranged randomly. Moreover, the low formality leads to the fact that not all sessions of show are compulsory to the entirety of this TV program. For example, the session of resurrection of candidates appears only in several years. However, overall speaking, this event somewhat follows a logical order. It starts with lower order actions and ends with higher order actions. By starting with the introduction of candidates which is followed by shows, voting and finally prize presentation, it allows audience to have a brief understanding of the candidates at the beginning of the show. In terms of the setting of the event, since the area outside the factory is spacious, its allows the placement of red carpet so that candidates can walk through it to enter the stage at the beginning of the contest. The relationship between S and K The event is relatively informal and playful. Thus, It affects the key by constructing...

...------------------------------------------------- College History... Ladies College Colombo was founded as a self supporting institution in 1900 by Liiian Nixon from Ireland and Ms Elizabeth Whitney from Canada at the behest of the Church Missionary Society. The history of the school is woven round the seven principals of the college who were responsible for its founding, expansion and ethos. There is no doubt it was due to their Christian faith and commitment that Ladies College grew from a rented bungalow in Slave Island with two students to what it is today... Quoting Ladies' College 1900-2000 Several issues fascinated us. …… How a Christian Missionary school like Ladies’ College, established in 1900 within a colonial ethos, adapted itself to the social, cultural, and economic changes that were ushered in with independence in 1947? How did the school come to terms with the subsequent shifts in educational policy by successive governments especially during the second half of the last century? How did the school cope with such dramatic changes and do so while still remaining geared to the national system of education? How did Ladies’ College not only survive for a period of a hundred years, but grow from strength to strength? Lilian Nixon BA Cert. Ed Principal (1900 - 1914). | At Ladies' College Cheltenham Lilian Nixon came under the influence of its famous Principal Dorothea Beale who brought to the realm of women’s education a vision and determination that had...

...| Gross box office (2014)[1][2] | Total | €1.33 billion | National films | €563.01 million (43.1%) | Cinema of France refers to the film industry based in France. The French cinema comprises the art of film and creative movies made within the nation of France or by French filmmakers abroad. France is the birthplace of cinema and was responsible for many of its significant contributions to the art form and the film-making process itself.[3] Several important cinematic movements, including the Nouvelle Vague, began in the country. It is noted for having a particularly strong film industry, due in part to protections afforded by the French government.[3] Apart from its strong and innovative film tradition, France has also been a gathering spot for artists from across Europe and the world. For this reason, French cinema is sometimes intertwined with the cinema of foreign nations. Directors from nations such as Poland (Roman Polanski, Krzysztof Kieślowski, and Andrzej Żuławski), Argentina(Gaspar Noé and Edgardo Cozarinsky), Russia (Alexandre Alexeieff, Anatole Litvak), Austria (Michael Haneke), and Georgia (Géla Babluani, Otar Iosseliani) are prominent in the ranks of French cinema. Conversely, French directors have had prolific and influential careers in other countries, such as Luc Besson, Jacques Tourneur, or Francis Veber in the United States. Another element supporting this...
