The team is founded in 1946, and is currently under the ownership of Boston Basketball Partners LLC. The arena of Boston Celtics is TD Banknorth Garden, where they play their home games. The Boston Celtics has a long and rich history. It was initially formed in 1946, and was at that time owned by Walter A. Brown as a team in the Basketball Association of America (BAA), and became part of the National Basketball Association (NBA) after the merger of the BAA and the National Basketball League in the fall of 1949.
