...Video Games and Health ITT Technical Institute It’s easy to see the appeal of the video game. They allow us to do things that most people would never have the chance to experience, or something that’s flat out impossible. From the roar of a massive v-12 engine in a Ferrari, screaming down a straight at 230 miles per hour, to the rat-tat-tat of a heavy machine gun, complete with the imagined scent of cordite and powdery, obliterated dry wall, or even directing stalwart troops across a decimated sci-fi battlefield, there’s nothing quite like the visceral experience of a well-made video game. I’ve plummeted feet-first through Earth’s fiery atmosphere in a vessel no bigger than a phone booth with blue and purple iridescent plasma-bolts exploding inches from my head. I’ve experienced the elation of besting a massive, scaly, fire-breathing dragon in single combat that had just burned down an unfortunate village. The experiences that these games give us are just not available anywhere else, to such an interactive extent. However, therein may lay a problem. It is an undeniable fact that videos games can have an addictive quality to them, due to the escapism they provide. Wherever one looks, there seems to be someone engrossed in the latest action-adventure game, whether it be on a handheld device such as a smart phone, or on an enormous flat screen television that uses more electricity than Rhode Island. We have more leisure time in today’s society than in any other time in...

...Study Case from Modern Banking by Shelagh Heffernan - Kidder Peabody Group – ‘‘But Leo’’, said Alan Horrvich, a third-year financial analyst at General Electric Capital Corporation (GECC) in September 1987: ‘‘I don’t know anything about investment banking. If I walk in there with a lot of amateurish ideas for what he ought to do with Kidder, Cathart will rip me apart. OK, you’re the boss, but why me?’’ ‘‘Look Alan’’, replied Mr Leo Halaran, Senior Vice-President, Finance of GECC: ‘‘we’ve got ten thousand things going on here right now and Cathart calls up and says, very politely, that he wants somebody very bright to work with him on a strategic review of Kidder Peabody. You’re bright, you spent a semester in the specialised finance MBA programme at City University Business School in London, you earned that fancy MBA from New York University down there in Wall Street, and you are available right now, so you’re our man. Relax, Si isn’t all that tough. If you make it through the first few weeks without getting sent back, you’ve got a friend for life. . .’’, he ended with a grin. ‘‘Me.’’ Mr Silas S. Cathart, 61, had retired as Chairman and CEO of Illinois Tool Works in 1986. He had been a director of the General Electric Company for many years and was much admired as a first-rate, tough though diplomatic results-oriented man- ager. After the resignation of Mr Ralph DeNunzio as Chairman and CEO of Kidder Peabody following the management shake-up...

...rightfully forced some changes in the deal structure. To win the approval from the French government, GE’s newest proposition involved setting up joint ventures in renewable energy, electricity grid equipment and nuclear power. In fact, the value of the stakes Alstom will own in the three joint ventures is estimated to be about €2.6bn which means that the net cash cost of the deal for GE is about €9.7bn. Moreover, the US and European regulators required the sell-off of part of the GE’s turbine business to the Italian Ansaldo Energia in order to keep the market competitive. Before GE got the “green light” from Paris, there was lot of competition between GE and the joint offer of Siemens and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for the acquisition of Alstom, even though the board of Alstom favoured GE’s clear and simple offer. Moreover, GE promised to add about 1000 new jobs in France, where it has had large existing operations for decades. On the other hand, the government liked the fact that Mitsubishi-Siemens offer was based on forming a partnership and was not going to be a takeover. Finally, when GE modified its proposal, it won the war. ...Film Critique: STEALTH Cheri Adams ENG225 Instructor: Matthew Norsworthy May 15, 2011 Film Critique: Stealth Stealth was made in 2005 and is presented by Columbia Pictures, directed by Rob Cohen, Produced by Mike Medavoy. The Executive Producer was Arnold Messer. The movie starts out with wording and music, similar to Star Wars, giving the prologue of the movie. I feel that the Director’s vision is that he is trying to warn us about what the future is capable of happening, if we put “brains” in computers. In this thesis I will be telling you about the movie so you will be able to understand what is happening. I will also be telling you who is in the movie and what their roles are, the style and directing of the movie. I will also Critique the film regarding the flaws that was done, the editing to the style and the acting. The Original music was done by BT. Music plays throughout the movie; the colors are neutral at the beginning of the movie with certain key items showing full color, in one scene a United States flag is flying on a building. Dean Semler does the Cinematography’s work. His work includes Secretariat (2010) and Mad Max: Fury Road (pre-production) (2012). Stephen Rivhin did the film editing. His most recent work was Avatar (2009), Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (2007) and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (2006). Making a movie is a genuinely collaborative effort...

...Military Technology Technology in the military has greatly increased strength and eased the ranking among world powers and effected the development of new military weapons. The term "Survival of the fittest" means that the strong will succeed but the meek will not, this is the case with military technology. The U.S. has the best technology in the world, therefore we are the highest military power. Technology is a very important part of warfare. Technology is driven by the military. The army's race during the cold war, spawned some of the greatest technical achievements in human history. Space travel for example is a result of the X-plane project. The Internet was produced by the military as well. If we stop investing in military technology, we risk our safety. If other nations had more advance technology than we do, they would have more power than we do. If that was to happen, we face the threat of that nation taking over us. Military technology may be divided into five categories. Offensive arms harm the enemy, while defensive weapons ward off offensive attacks. Transportation technology moves soldiers and weaponry; communications coordinate the movements of armed forces; and sensors detect forces and guide weaponry. There are many types of technological developments in the military happening at all times. They range from new aircraft to sophisticated guidance systems. Teams of specialists work for years to develop some of our simplest equipment. These people's...

Both GE and PW powered these two aircraft this was known as "The Great Engine War" (Connors, 2010, p. 394) this was due some reliability issues caused by the engine over performing allowing pilots to fly outside of the aircraft's design envelope. GE had been in competition for the engine contract for the F-15 and F-16. The contract went to PW, but with the issues the F100 the Air Force went back and made PW and GE battle for the contract again, In the end, GE was awarded 65% of the contract for the first year.
