...Tori Cisney L23872846 BIBL 105-001 18 September 2013 Genesis 1-11 Essay English Standard Version A biblical worldview is based on the infallible Word of God. It the practice of living out what the Bible teaches. Genesis one through eleven is the basic framework for the creation of the universe. These chapters describe how the natural world is a fallen world. They also explain that every human’s identity is in Christ, and the affects that the fallen world has on human relationships. Chapter eleven in Genesis explains how people forget their judgement so quickly and return to their crimes and idols. Genesis one, three, and six portrays the world at a fallen state. God created the universe with perfection. Each day, He created something new on the Earth and saw that they were all good. He created man in His image,” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them” (Gen 1:27). But, the earth instantly became a fallen world, beginning in Genesis 3. As a result of Adam's sin in the sixth verse of chapter three, the world has to encounter sickness, sorrow, evil and death. Everyone is born into the world with a sinful nature. So, nobody is born innocent and pure, but have the inbuilt desire to sin. God’s plan was to create a world for the humans He created with creature righteousness to dwell in His presence. But, because of this new fallen state, God’s judgement is upon man, woman, nature, and Satan...

...From reading the story of Genesis and comparing Michelangelo’s famous artistic paintings. Reading and observing each detail, I have concluded that the story of Genesis reveals the means of how God created the havens and earth and the paintings of Michelangelo has justified each creation to the details of the story. The first creation described how God created the world by bringing chaos. In this state the world was considered to be preexistent; which is said to mean that God didn’t create the world out of just nothing. “The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface over the surface of the deep” (Genesis 1:2) In this case it is clear that God had a goal to bring goodness into the world and from my understanding it has to be in a state of bad before any goodness may come. In Michelangelo’s painting, Gods legs are cut by the frame, and its as if the whole sky is filled with Him. As one arm pushes back darkness, the light is rolling in...

...The two stories, The Epic of Gilgamesh and Genesis are very similar. Both of them describe a flood. There are many similarities in how they describe the flood. There are some differences but not many, and because stories are passed down generations it’s quite possible they are the same event. Before the flood, the descriptions in both stories are very similar. In The Epic of Gilgamesh, a god ,Ea, comes to Utnapishtim and tells him to build a boat and take the seed of all creatures. He says “ Tear down your house, I say, and build a boat. These are the measurements of the barque as you shall build her: let her beam equal her length, let her deck be roofed like the vault that covers the abyss; then take up into the boat the seed of all living creatures.” It took him seven days to build the boat and then the flood came. It rained and stormed for six days and nights. Something very similar happened in the story from the genesis. God tells noah to build a boat and tells him the measurements. He...

...LIBERTY UNIVERSITY ONLINE Biblical Worldview AN ESSAY SUBMITTED TO PROFESSOR LARRY BROWN BIBL105-B13 OLD TESTAMENT SURVEY BY CAR FEBRUARY 2015 Since I first started reading the Bible I have looked at the first 11 chapters of Genesis as merely a historical text to tell how God created the world, His grace, His love, His justice and His Holiness. However after reading it with an eye toward how it influences my world view and how I see the natural world, the human identity, human relationships and civilization I see there is a wealth of information overlooked in most people’s basic understanding of what could be considered the most important 11 chapters in the Bible. As we see from the beginning of the Book of Genesis a triune God created the entire natural world and all living things in six days. According to Moses writing he meant six twenty-four hour periods, this is based on the fact Moses used the word “Yom” for day in this book. “Yom” as used in other parts of the Bible refers to a day as a twenty-four hour period by this we can be sure Moses wasn’t referring to a day as some other period of time. Based on this God is showing us we are to work six days and rest on the seventh or Sabbath as seen in Genesis 2:2-3 (NIV) “Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.” These first 11 chapters also show us the fallacy in evolution as the Bible clearly states He created all living things...

...Genesis: The Effects Today Bible 105-B27 LUO: Old Testament Survey 201320 Spring 2013 Xxxxxx Xxxxxxx L33333333 Liberty University January 21, 2013 Genesis: The Effects Today We must begin with the question: what is Genesis? Genesis is the beginning of everything we know today. It is what we research, study, and learn today about everything that exists around us. The first eleven chapters of Genesis cover the period from the time of creation to the time of Abraham (Hester, 1962). It is the truth of the beginning of the natural world, human identity, human relationships, and civilization. These four areas are discussed in this essay in reference of how they affect my worldview. When I read the first two chapters of Genesis, I find God as the creator of everything that we know in regards to natural world. The first chapter summarizes the creation of the world and the second scrutinizes it (Hinson & Yates, 2012). In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1). The teachings on how the natural world came to be, as we know it today, have never wavered from the depictions Genesis gives. Today we can watch as the concept of evolution self-destructs. Many have recognized the total inability of chance and random processes to produce the incredible complexity we see around us, especially in living systems (Morris, 2007). Statements such as these are easily found with the use of your computer. The fact is, none of the theories of how our...

...Essay Question 1: Biblical Worldview To me, worldview in general means the view or opinion that a person has to view the world or make judgment about life. It does not necessary need to be the same worldview, as different people have different thinking and opinion on every matter. It is mostly influenced by individual culture, religion, backgrounds and science study today. A biblical worldview on another hand is how an individual view the world or make judgment based on the word of God which is ‘The Bible’. In another word, biblical worldview is how a person’s view can be defined through scriptures. After reading Genesis 1-11, it is like a base for all biblical truth as it clearly states that God is the creator of all things. The scriptures define God as loving, kind and holy. By reading and understanding these scriptures, it changes some of our personal worldview and who God really is and what he portrays in the creation of the world before it even begun. Genesis 1–11 it teaches us regarding the natural world, human identity, human relationships, and civilization. Based on Genesis 1, God uses only 7 days to create the natural world. He showed us that we should work six days and rest on the seventh day like what he did when he was creating the earth. It only took him 6 days to complete and rested on the seventh day which is called ‘Sabbath Day’. The meaning behind Sabbath is rest which is seen in Genesis 2:2-3 which states, “By the seventh day God had finished the work he...

...Nathaniel Smith Professor Lobaina Bible 105 – B02 9/7/15 Biblical Worldview Essay Worldviews are a very important part of society. They define what we believe and act as a filter for the way that we see the world. As Christians our worldview has always and will always be criticized, but it is important that we define our worldview so when it is questioned we can stand up and speak what we believe. I believe that our worldview is defined by four major categories that are as follows: the natural world, human identity, human relationships, and civilization. As Christians our worldview starts with Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” This verse is the basis for what we believe about the natural world. In continuing reading our worldview of the natural world grows in seeing that God created the earth and everything in it in seven days. When you tear down the basis of the natural world we see many different worldviews amongst people and scientist. Scientists have the Theory of Evolution and the Big Bang Theory and we as Christians have the Theory of Creation. These theories are all worldviews of different faiths and religions. Our faith is the main basis of our worldview without it we lose sight of who we are and our identity in Christ. In looking further our worldview of the natural world gets deeper as we see differences in things such as intelligent design. Overall the biblical worldview of the natural world is this: God created everything...

...Essay Question 1: Biblical Worldview Rationale for the Biblical Worldview Essay Genesis 1-11 gives an excellent explanation of the beginning of many important realities which are some of the world’s most highly discussed topics including creation, existence, identity, relationships, early nations and civilizations. Genesis teaches of the natural world through the scriptures found in Genesis chapters 1 and 2 with the creation. Genesis chapters 3-5 tell of the fall of Adam and Eve into sin and how it would affect human relationships with each other and God. Genesis chapters 6-9 tell of the growing power of sin and God’s intent to restore creation through the Noahic covenant after the Great Flood. Finally in Genesis chapter 10 there is the table of nations as they descended from Noah’s sons, Genesis 11 speaks of the tower of Babel and begins to introduce Abram’s family beginning with his father Terah. Genesis chapters 1-11 provide lots of information pertinent to the rest of the bible and the way things are to be carried out across the nations. The Creation begins in Genesis 1:1, the first day, God creates the heavens and the earth but seen the earth as formless and empty, then its continued in verse 3 with God creating light and separating light (day) from darkness (night). In verse 6, the second day, God creates a vault (sky) to separate the water from water and in verses 9 and 10, the third day, dry ground appears it is called land and the water is called seas then God...

...atheists interpret the heavens as having been birthed from a naturally caused explosion called the “Big Bang.” This kind of perspective is called a naturalist perspective. Both perspectives compete with one another because each claims to be the truth. Fortunately, the law of non-contradiction tells us only one can be correct. The scope of this short essay concerns only the creationist perspective. Individuals possessing a biblical Christian worldview (hereafter referred to as Christians) believe that their God, Yahweh (hereafter referred to as God) created, by speaking into existence, the complete universe (hereafter referred to as Creation) in six literal days. This creationist perspective is derived from the first chapters of the book of Genesis found within the Bible and is a foundational belief to Christianity. Truths concerning astronomy are learned by Christians in two ways: special and general revelation. Special revelation is truth that has been revealed by God through the Bible, dreams and visions, and prophesy. By special revelation, Christians know the origin of the universe (found within the beginning chapters in the book of Genesis in the Bible). General revelation is truth that has been revealed through the examination of Creation. By general revelation, Christians are confirmed in their...

...Tyesha Richard July 5, 2013 BIBL 105 Essay 1 Natural World, Human Identity, Human Relationships, and Civilization throughout the Bible God is the creator of all things. He created the heavens and the earth. God created the natural world. Genesis 1:1 states, “In the beginning God created the Heavens and the earth (NIV)”. On the first day, God created light. He created light to separate day from night. The second day God created the sky and the ocean. “And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water. So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it” (Genesis 1:6-7). This is how God created the sky. On the third day, God created the dry ground and He called it land. He created land so there would be vegetation (Genesis 1:12). God then created the sun, moon, and stars on the fourth day. He wanted to distinguish day and night by creating the sun and moon. “God made two great lights, the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night” (Genesis, 1:16). God then created the birds of the sky and the fishes of the sea on the fifth day. On the sixth day, God created animals and man. God wanted to make man in His own image. The fact that man is the pinnacle of God’s creative work is evident from his designation as God’s image bearer (pg.55). Man was to take care of the earth, to rule over the fishes of the sea, the birds in the sky, and the animals in the land. Man and woman were given...

...Natalie Sorto Essay Question 1: Biblical Worldview Professor Stroh 10/1/2015 As we know, everyone has his or her own worldview. Take a peek into mine as I talk about human identity, natural world, human relationships, and civilization. After reading Genesis 1-11 we’ve seen how God has worked with those four major concepts, and how He has shaped our world today. In Genesis 3:11-12 (Then He asked, “Who told you that you were naked? Did you eat from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?” Then the man replied, “The woman You gave to be with me-she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”) Before eating from the tree neither Adam nor Eve knew that they were naked, nor did they care. From my worldview, this is when God put human identity into play. By man not obeying God, we suddenly felt insecure about having our bodies covered, causing Adam to hide when he heard God call for him. Even when they disobeyed God, he turned around and sewed clothes for them; I believe God created human identity to prove that even when we disobey God, He won’t turn his back on us and he’ll continue to provide for us even when we don’t deserve it. From reading the Theology of Work Project I became more familiar with the natural world and coming to realize that, “The book of Genesis is the foundation for the theology of work” says Theology of Work Project. What I mean by this is that before taking this class, yes I was a believer but I hadn’t read much into the Bible. From reading...

... Abstract My essay will explain the Biblical Christian worldview, as it is presented in the book of Genesis chapters one through eleven. A biblical worldview is based on the infallible Word of God. I will discuss what the Word of God teaches us about the natural world, human identity, human relationships, and civilization. It will answer some of life’s difficult questions: “Where did we come from? How did we get here? What is my purpose here? Who am I? Is there a God?” All of these will be answered with the Old Testament, which is where I derive my worldview from. Biblical Worldview Our worldview is the foundation for our values, morals, family structure, and life purpose. Worldview is defined by Merriam-Webster (2016) as “a particular philosophy of life or conception of the world.” Israel Wayne presents it as “a set of lenses which taint our vision or alter the way we perceive the world around us. Our worldview is formed by our education, our upbringing, the culture we live in, the books we read, the media and movies we absorb” (Wayne, 2016). I have a Biblical Christian worldview, which is based in The Bible’s book of Genesis. Let’s explore the book of Genesis, and find out what that means. You do not have to go far into The Bible to find where the Christians fundamental understanding of the natural world comes from. The book of Genesis chapter one, verse one, reads “In the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth.” (Gen 1:1) Genesis goes on to tell...

...Caleb Smith Dr. Fuhr BIBL 105-D01 3 November, 2014 Genesis Essay 1 Genesis 1-11 describes and defines most of the core concepts of the Bible and describes God as the creator of the universe. These scriptures give us our first glimpse at God and his characteristics, and the origin of our world. By teaching these two very important concepts we are able to take away a lot from that. We can understand how we are to treat the world, treat others, how we are to interact with God and who we are as both individuals and as a society or civilization. One of the most prominent and obvious themes of these first chapters is how God created the world. The Bible teaches that the world was created in a quite literal and physical way. Infact the very first verse in the entire Bible says, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” (Gen 1:1) This really leaves nothing up to interpretation. Within six full twenty-four hour days, God had created everything, including humans, animals, stars and planets. Then on the seventh day He rested, and he blessed that day and called it holy and instructed us to set it aside for rest as well. “By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.” (Gen 2:2-3) God said to let everything that he created reproduce after its own kind, plants, animals...

...ESSAY FOR HOSPITALITY To the ancient Greeks hospitality was a divine right; a person’s ability to abide by the laws of hospitality determined nobility and social standing. In Indian society, hospitality is based on the principle ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ meaning “the guest is God”; this principle was shown in the Christian Bible in the Book of Genesis when the Jewish patriarch Abraham showed the act of hospitality to angels of the Lord Jehovah. The scripture Hebrews 13:2 states “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unaware”. These principles are what have made me conclude, that as a young man who aspires to one day be able to own a franchise in the hospitality industry, my course of preparation must start now with the education and training in hospitality management that this Institute offers. We must admit that the hospitality industry is a lucrative business containing many emoluments, but the act of hospitality is that of propitiousness. This area of work is for those who have a passion for helping and entertaining people, while also keeping a business sense, making one capable of running a trillion–dollar business. As people travel, eat out or attend theme parks they are patronizing establishments in the industry. Managing such establishments are challenging tasks, as managers have to be flexible. I believe that I have the ability to become one of the top managers in the hospitality industry. Having managed many community...

...Elements of Earth Science Comparative Essay Original Creation of the Earth Rhonda L. Carter 9 March 2014 PHSC 210-B13 LOU | | Introduction It should be easy to say that the Earth was created by a higher power. For a Christian this higher power is God. The Bible gives us the six day creation of the heavens and the Earth and all that dwell upon it. For anyone else, the higher power is some unknown power that science is still trying to figure out. There are a lot of theories in science about how the Earth was created. One of these theories is the big bang theory. The essay will compare the two theories and show how different they are. Old Earth View In the old Earth view of the original creation of Earth we are told about the big bang theory. In order to explain this theory one must understand what science says that it is. “According to the big bang theory, the universe began by expanding from an infinitesimal volume with extremely high density and temperature. The universe was initially significantly smaller than even a pore on your skin. With the big bang, the fabric of space itself began expanding like the surface of an inflating balloon – matter simply rode along the stretching space like dust on a balloon’s surface.” (Takahashi, 2000) When dealing with science, one can see that scientists do not believe in a divine power such as God. They deal with their theories and will tell you that they believe something was created, but not that it was created by God. Only...
