...George Mortimer Pullman was an American engineer and industrialist. Pullman would invent the first ever Pullman sleeping car, a railroad designed for overnight travel. Shortly after its beginning, Pullman's railroad would go international soon and would become the number one railroad not only in the country. On June 20, 1893, the Pullman railroad workers would start the American Railroad Union. The purpose of this was for the workers to be united in a single organization. The Union was founded so that if things were to ever go bad, the workers could stand up against the upper management. There were hopes that there would never be any complications, but in September of 1893 George Pullman and the Pullman industries began to reduce the wages by 25% while not lowering the cost of rent in company homes....
