Going to the dogs, I have a lot of opinion about this issue. The first thing is that I don’t believe that employees should not be allowed to have dog in the workplace. To me that is not professional and it can cause a distraction. Another point is that if the dog is not properly trained then it can ruin things in the office, for example destroy important documents and stuff. A dog can also ruin the furniture at the store. Not to mention that at times the dog can be quite loud and like I mention earlier that can be a huge distraction. A dog cannot be dependable or trustworthy of any of their actions. Another point is that some people are …show more content…
I would seek to find out all the laws that concerns dogs in the workplace and how they work. I would make sure that the policy is written with the accordance with those with a disability in the workplace, as well as post it in a place where every employee can see it. I would also give each employee a hard copy so there would be no way they could say that they didn’t know about the policy. This policy would state that the company only allows social, service and therapy dogs only to those that have a disability or behavioral …show more content…

Classical Conditioning Paper

...Classical Conditioning Paper PSY/ 390 May 05, 2014 Professor Chelsea Hansen Classical Conditioning Paper Abstract: Throughout this paper a theory of classical conditioning will be described and detailed. A selected scenario in which I the writer was able to apply a classical conditioning theory. The description of the scenario will be detailed as well as demonstrated on a chart which was prepared in order to illustrate how someone would apply a classical conditioning theory to the selected scenario. It is important to remember that classical conditioning is a technique that is used in primarily behavioral training. Usually it is when a naturally occurring stimulus is paired with a responsive stimulus. Afterwards a more previously neutral stimulus is then paired with the more naturally occurring stimulus. The outcome is that the previously neutral stimulus comes in to evoke and the response is without the presence of the naturally occurring stimulus. The most common names given to the two following elements are known as the conditioned stimulus and the conditioned responses. Classical conditioning came to life through the hard work and dedication from the well world renowned investigations of Psychologist Ivan Pavlov. Pavlov Born September 14, 1849 in Russia knew from very early he loved the study of psychology and worked hard on focusing on the Classical Conditioning theory “Operant and classical conditioning are two different ways in which organisms come to reflect...

...Haylee Bowers Research Paper 11/20/13 In today’s society, cruelty towards animals is growing rapidly because people don’t understand the value of an animal’s life. People all around the world use and abuse animals as if it was some kind of national sport, and everybody is competing for the first place gold medal. Ever year millions of animals are being beaten and starved because of heartless people. Animal cruelty is a social issue that many people don’t understand. All the people who abuse animals don’t understand when they are harming an innocent animal are going to continue to do it until they are shown what they are doing wrong. Each type of abuse has certain patterns that scientists can study and find out why people commit the crimes they do. Animal cruelty is broken down into two categories, which are active and passive. Active cruelty is also known as NAI (non-accidental injury). NAI is when a person has malicious intent so fierce that they deliberately and intentionally cause harm to an animal. On the other hand with passive cruelty a person doesn’t intentionally cause harm to the animal, they simple neglect it by giving it no attention. While I was doing the research for this essay, I thought non-stop about how a human being could break a dogs leg, back, or even neck and feel no sympathy for the dog? Are some people in this world that heartless that they have no feelings for other living things? I wonder if you asked a person that has abused an animal if they...

Classical Conditioning

...Classical Conditioning Paper Accidently founded by Ivan Pavlov, classical conditioning is basically learning by association behavior. A better definition would be “A process of behavior modification by which a subject comes to respond in a desired manner to a previously neutral stimulus that has been repeatedly presented along with an unconditioned stimulus that elicits the desired response” (Farlex, 2011). This paper will describe the theory of classical conditioning and demonstrate how one would apply the classical conditioning in everyday life. Theory of Classical Conditioning Ivan Pavlov, a Russian physiologist, was performing research on the digestive system of a dog by using the data from the dog’s salivation when in the middle of these tests he by accident noticed that certain behaviors can be conditioned (Alloy, Riskind, & Manos, 2005). First, one must understand that behaviorism in psychology is based on the belief that learning happens through relations with the environment (Cherry, 2011). Pavlov found that several of the reactions were occurring due to prior learning. He obtained this important information by noting that the dogs would salivate even before they were offered the meat. Pavlov concluded that the dogs were conditioned and learned from the entrance of the lab assistant, who was generally the person who brought in the meat. He expanded his experiment further by introducing a bright light or a loud sound to see if the dogs would salivate when seeing them...

Pit Bulls Argument Essay

...Next, the arguments of those who are against breed specific legislation of the Pit Bull breeds will be presented. One argument they present is that all dogs can attack and cause fatalities. Pit Bulls attacks are the ones that are published in the media and bring a bad reputation to their name. The cases of other attacks are not highlighted in the media, which is why most individuals feel that Pit Bulls are the only breeds who attack others. Also, the behavior of those who do attack are often influenced by other factors, such as the environment they were raised in. German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Jacks Russell’s, Spaniels, St. Bernard’s, and even Labrador retrievers have all been found to be highly represented in biting incidents (American Veterinary Medical Association). In defense of the higher amount of severe injury or fatalities being caused by Pit Bulls, there are other factors that need to be taken into account before the breed can be blamed. The breed may be popular in the victim’s community, and the dog’s treatment by...

...Evers College PSYC 215-Theories of Personality Professor Maureen D. Jarus April 27, 2012 A personality theory is a system of concepts, assumptions, ideas and principles proposed to explain different personalities. Personality theorist seek to explain human behavior in terms of inner causes, instincts, feelings of inferiority, needs, conditions of worth, intentions, and so forth. In this research paper, I will be exploring both behaviorist theory, as well as the Trait theory in trying to understand serial killer Wayne Bertram Williams. Behavioral Theories The Behaviorist theory places importance on the external environment, and on the effects of conditioning and learning. Ivan Pavlov was the first psychologist to discover and explore this theory at the beginning of the twentieth century. He demonstrated this form of learning which became known as “classical conditioning” in an experiment with dogs. He would place a small amount of meat on a dogs tongue, and after continuing to do this many times, the canines would salivate before they were giving the food. Before long, the dogs would begin to salivate as soon as Dr. Pavlov would enter the room. He realized that this was a reflex, whereas one stimulus will be followed by another r stimulus, because the two stimuli occurred close together. This reinforced that behavior can be attributed to experience. B.f. Skinner on the other hand, argued that most behavior is learned through “operant conditioning”, wherein the human...

Thoughts and Tips on Written Work

...attention. Good writing signals leadership potential. Good writing is hard work. Each of you has had training in writing, and some of you know what the principles are. Putting them in practice is the challenge. If I had to boil down into a single thought or phrase what I think is most essential to effective writing, it would be this: attention to detail. Think precision. Precision is both a process and a product. Be sure your grasp of the English language is complete and correct. Here is an example of a common misuse of a word: "In today's discussion, we are going to hone in on the early weeks of the Civil War." The word "hone" means sharpen, as in sharpening a knife. It is the wrong word to use in the context above. A correct, metaphoric use of "hone" would be this one: "Today we are going to hone our pronunciation skills." In the first sentence, the correct word in place of "hone" is "home"--" . . . we are going to home in on the early weeks of the Civil War." If you have the slightest doubt about the appropriateness of a word for the context in which you are using it, look up that word in the dictionary....

Michael Vick Overview

...Throughout the research paper process I have made great strides in working to complete the material. I have not had to switch my topic as I am finding very interesting sources from different point of views on the subject. There is a great quantity of information on the web about Michael Vicks situation post, during, and before his dog fighting allegations and trial. With this said I have no trouble finding sources dealing with my topic. The sources are not just your average sources though. These sources go into great detail, even sharing the amount of money Vick lost, and is still losing, from his bankruptcy case in which he filed just months before being incarcerated. By reading multiple sources and seeing different point of views on the matter I can’t exactly say it changed my stance or outlook on the situation, but it did open my eyes. I’m not saying Michael Vick was right or didn’t deserve to go to jail, but he did not deserve to serve that long of a tenure in jail. That I do know. Not only have a considered looking at others viewpoints on the subject matter, but I’ve already made a great effort to do so. I like seeing what other great mind think about that subject of Michael Vick and dog fighting. The sides seem to be split on the image of Michael Vick though. There are many that feel Vick paid his debt to society and is a great example of redemption and that you can turn your life around. Every knows America is one of the few countries that is open to second chances. But...

Public Relations Profession

...Laurie Ewart J3400 Reflection Paper #1 9/18/13 Secondary Research-Chapter 5 As public relations professional, research would be one of the most important aspects of your career. Research should be your first step before launching a new product or marketing plan. If you fail to do the research first, you risk wasting a great deal of time and money on your project. Researching your target marketing is a huge benefit. Secondary research is essentially a summary of data that has already been collected. If you have a question to answer you can easily access the data and analyze it in order to get the answer you are looking for. This is opposed to primary data, which you would have to conduct new research to get the information you need. While secondary research seems to take much less effort, it still had its advantages and disadvantages. One of the main advantages to secondary research is that it is cost and time effective. Since you will not have to conduct the research you would have very little money and time in simply accessing the data from another source. The amount of time you would save by not conducting research you can now spend on analyzing data or any other areas of your plan that it is needed. Another advantage to secondary research is that you have several different sources that you can utilize to find your data. There are many websites that offer this type of information. One of the largest drawbacks of secondary research is that the results are usually...
