...Intergenerational Interview Report “The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.”- Alan Watts Throughout history; more specifically throughout different generations, we as human beings have been subject to a certain amount of change within our society. As time goes by change is almost inevitable among a nation. Change has occurred throughout history due to specific events that have a ripple effect upon individuals. Whether the change is a result of advancing technology, social climate, or foreign influence there is little chance of preventing the effect it will have on society. It is difficult to argue that we have not seen a paradigm shift in social attitudes from generation to generation, and one could easily point to this the being the reason that we as a society have progressed so quickly over the last 50 years. Until conducting these interviews I was not aware of the immense amount of progress, and in some cases amount of deterioration, that we as a society have caused. It is obvious in the way that human beings have treated things like environmental sustainability, civic engagement and social justice over this time and this paper will be examining how these ideas have are different to generation. While interviewing my grandfather I was able to gather lots of information about not just the time he lived in, but also some information about himself that I had not previously known. He started off the interview by telling...

... The Best, The Worst, The Wackiest During my interview with Nadia Vasilevsky, I came across an article that goes back before year 1995. “The Best, The Worst, The Wackiest…And The End”. It was an article from the Washington Post, my grandfather, has written it. It goes back in time and describes all the different circumstances in Russia. More like a news blog of current time. My grandmother gave it to me and let me read it. It really caught me off guard; I just wasn’t expecting to find something big like this. I think it’s pretty cool. “All I knew about what was going on in Russia was what I gleaned from the news. And the news, of course, is mostly focused on politics and catastrophic events, such as the Kursk submarine sinking and terrorist attacks. For that reason, I wanted to keep this blog as apolitical as possible, and as focused on the ordinary lives of ordinary people as I could make it. I wanted to know how Russians were really living -- not just how their politicians and oligarchs were faring.” This came straight from one of the posts in the blogs paper. His overall mission was to find and see what life in Russian really was like years later. Russia was really suffering in poverty after my great-great-grandfather passed away. His family all wanted to have a fresh start, so moving to America sounded like a good idea. After living in America for a couple of years, my grandfather wanted to go back and visit Russia for the last time. While visiting...

...Pediatric Incision Care Abstract This paper explores several articles that show results about wound care education research and its effects throughout the world. It also provides information about a case study based on this type of research. The case study included an interview process and a presentation to the client. An important component of this research includes providing education specifically to parents or guardians of the pediatric population which include patients aged from zero to eighteen years of age. Since clients are often unaware of the appropriate interventions following incision care treatments, it is important to discuss and instruct them about the correct methods of providing care after a procedure. Keywords: wound care education, knowledge and skill of wound care, patient education, wound infection Wound Care Education Patients or caretakers of pediatrics patients are often unaware of how to care for incisions after medical procedures. Nurses are responsible for educating patients on the effects and complications of these treatments. Since wound infection has been attributed to many incision procedures, it is crucial that clients improve their knowledge and skills to reduce this type of infection when sent home. According to the Journal of Clinical Nursing, after providing a wound care program to 89 participants, there was greater understanding, skills, and satisfaction from the group who was provided the program than from those without the education...

...Sitora Pulatova Galina Gorborukova Sociology of Deviance Final paper 18/12/2015 Suicide as a form of deviant behavior Introduction Deviant behavior is defined as any behavior or an act that goes against the established certain social norms in one specific society. As norms change in time, so does the description of deviant behavior. Deviant behavior as an element of social life is the subject of sociology and social psychology. The history of sociology of deviance is presented in a variety of monographs, textbooks and articles ( Ivanova E., 2014 ). However it is poor reflected in the history of Kyrgyz sociological studies of deviance as well as in the formation of Kyrgyz sociology of deviance. Sociology of deviant behavior and suicide behavior holds a strong position as a special theory of suicide within the structure of sociological knowledge (Problem of sociological research, pg. 1). Suicide can be seen as the ultimate deviant act. So it is important to know how it is measured in official statistics. According to the latest World Health Ranking data published in May 2014 Suicide Deaths in Kyrgyzstan reached 1.43% of total deaths. The age adjusted Death Rate ranks of Kyrgyzstan is 79th in the world (World Health Organization, 2015). This paper focuses on suicidal behaviour within the traditional society of Kyrgyzstan. ...This semester’s research topic revolved around the Menominee Native American Chief Oshkosh the Brave, who was appointed leader of the Menominees in 1827. It expanded to include his son Chief Neopit Oshkosh, appointed in 1871, and to his grandson Reginald who was unofficially named as chief in 1913 because I needed to understand the differences in how white Americans remember and revere these individuals compared to how Menominee historians remember them but ended up finding more differences in how different white scholars remember them. Consequently, my historiographical paper is on Reginald Oshkosh (which I believe I will focus on for my Fellowship research), but I foresee my Capstone project needing to be narrowed to only include Chief...

...Catholicism and the World Nichole L. Lombardi Axia College of University of Phoenix Catholicism and the World I have never been a person of faith, so this paper was intended to further my understanding of Catholicism, how it works, and how it compares to one of the fastest growing religions in the world, Islam. I have known of the existence of Catholicism for many years, but the usual things I have heard about it have been the negatives involving scandals with the clergy or some other important announcement from the Pope. This paper is intended to give both me and the reader a greater understanding of what the catholic faith is and how it relates to Islam, as well as describing some of the practices involved in these faiths. I have completed an interview with a practicing Catholic in order to facilitate my understanding. What I learned in this interview will be revealed later in this paper. By the end of this paper, I hope to have a better understanding of what it means to be a Catholic or a Muslim. Most importantly, I hope to truly understand what causes people to believe the things they believe and embrace religion. The Catholic Church is one of the oldest of religions and claims to be the original form of Christianity. The teachings and practices of Catholicism are believed to be handed down from Jesus Christ himself directly to the 12 apostles. The Catholic Church has enjoyed a very colorful history that includes the Crusades, the great Catechism, and more recently...

(Juliachildfoundation.org, 2016) Julia had the original goal to be a writer for her career, however, that goal did not come to fruition in the way she intended. She did have best-selling books but they were cookbooks rather than the works of fiction she aspired to write in her younger, college years. Julia joined a government agency called the Office of Strategic Services where she started as a typist but later became a research assistant. During her employment with this agency she traveled many places and during her employment she met and fell in love with her husband, Paul Child....

...Universality of Art -An interview with Djibrirou Kane Ottawa University Abstract An artist was interviewed for the Art/Expression breadth essay. In this essay, the interviewee is presented with various questions that span from thematic subjects of his artwork and what region had the most influence on his various paintings. This interview was repeated twice. Moreover, I ask the interviewee what drove him to express himself using this art form; he explains that it was due to his belief that fine arts have the farthest reaching and most lasting effect on human beings, as the saying goes “a picture is worth a thousand words”. Furthermore, the paper explores the artist’s tributes and recognitions of other forms of art(s) and his appreciation of the women and mothers of the region he hails from, as well as women across the globe. Universality of Art – An interview with Djibrirou Kane Art and self-expression have always been present in human populations, as many of the discovered cave paintings that are thousands of years old have clearly revealed. Art, however, can assume many forms – from music and poetry to fashion and design. For this breadth essay of Art/expression, I interviewed a young West African Artist named Djibrirou Kane (personal communication, January 20, 2016). He is a professional painter but also does a collage of artwork. He, for instance, mixes media art and draws, but refers to himself as predominantly a painter. The discussion on his artwork will...

...Religion is a topic that has been universally debated tracing back to the beginning of time. Religion shapes our lives and the way we live our lives as well as the way people behave. There are too many religions to study and discuss in a single paper; therefore, this paper will take a closer look at Christianity as it is the most common religion in the world covering 33% of the world’s population (Fisher, 2005). Why do so many people believe the words of the Holy Bible and claim the Christian faith? Is Christianity the truth? To truly understand Christianity, we must dive deep into the Biblical teachings and share the primary foundation of their beliefs. “Christianity is a faith based on the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus” (Fisher, 2005, pg. 284). In the beginning of this story we must start with Jesus’ mother, the Virgin Mary was visited by an angel, whom told her that she would conceive a baby and he would be the Messiah. She should name him Immanuel, which means God with us. An angel visited Joseph as well, who told him that Mary was blessed by the Holy Spirit and would have a son, who would save the people from their sins. Mary and Joseph obeyed God, the baby was born in a stable, laid in a manager and they called him Jesus, meaning God with us (Matthew 1:18-25, New International Version). At the age of 30, Jesus started his mission and selected a group of 12 disciples to help him share his message. He went place to place and preached about God’s love...
