Archetypes In The Alchemist And Guardians Of The Galaxy

...describes a remarkable deed which typically guides a hero into their rightful position and is seen in both The Alchemist and Guardians of the Galaxy. The reason why it exists is so that the audience can understand the main focus of the story and what the characters try to do in order to reach it. Moreover, depending on the specific story, the task can often be forgotten and never returned to.   For The Alchemist, Santiago’s main task, also known as his Personal Legend, was to find a hidden treasure in the Pyramids of Egypt. Consequently, the main focus of the story was whether he was going to survive the desert and find his treasure or not. Hooked On The Film, Guardians Of The Galaxy

...Hooked on more than just a feeling: Exploring the diversity of Guardians of the Galaxy Super heros, ear piercing sound effects, and sub par acting are all qualities bonded together to create the infamous Marvel movie. Marvel continually pushes the boundaries of overkill. However, Guardians of the Galaxy soars beyond the cliches and expectations of the typical Marvel production. A gang of misfits that are brought together ultimately by crime, are now held accountable for the fate of the galaxy. This may seem like a typical plot line, however director James Gunn does an incredible job of making it anything but. From the oddly catchy soundtrack, to the sarcastic dry humor delivered by an impeccable cast, Guardians is hardly the remnants of Marvel....

...range of examples from three media platforms. The enjoyment of the media products is influenced greatly by the different platforms that we use to access them. In my case study, all three platforms have used different techniques to create hype and enjoyments of the media products in order to engage audiences. I analysed two films: Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Trek into darkness. Guardians of the Galaxy had various media platforms, which targeted different audiences. There’s the epic mainstream trailer, toys/action figures for children and even lead actor, Chris Pratt, appearing in sketches parodying the film on Saturday Night Live. This would have created enjoyment towards the audience as it would have created anticipation and he’s a well-known and popular actor, making him a unique selling point. They also targeted dominant, hegemonic fans of Marvel films such as behind the scene interviews, documentaries and even the cast attending conventions such as Comic Con. This provides fans with a social belonging, due to the fact that the casts are with the fans and it’s like a community coming together, who are a big fan of Guardians of the Galaxy. Star Trek into Darkness have used a different approach by releasing many competitions that were launched for the upcoming movie, so people who knew about the movie can gain something and get excited while it will attract new people. The prizes were mostly for winning tickets to go to star trek into darkness premier, making fans...

This Paper Is About Greek Mythology and Its Connection with Astronomy

...hemisphere, which includes the 12 zodiac constellations and some other constellations. The zodiac constellations formed an imaginary circle which the sun, moon, and seven of the nine planets orbited in the space, for example the Taurus which symbolizes the bull which describe zeus, and the form he took when he carried off the phoenician maiden, Europa. The other constellations are the constellations located out of the imaginary circle or the "zodiac circle". One example of the constellations are the Canis Major or "Great Dog" which describe several dogs that appeared in many classical myths. One of the story about it is from the book written by Hyginus titled Poetica Astronomica: "He is said to have been given by Jove as a guardian for Europa, and later to have come to Minos. When Minos was ill, Procris, wife of Cephalus, is said to have cured him, and received the dog as a reward for her services, as she was very fond of hunting and the dog was so swift that no beast could escape. After her death the dog came to Cephalus her husband, who brought it to Thebes with him when he came. There was a fox there which was said to be so swift that it could outrun all dogs. So when the two animals met, Jupiter, in a dilemma, as Istrus says, changed them both to stone....

Soon after in the 1980s, they increased their focus on technology and this had led to the creation of the company’s 2 research and development (R&D) institutes. However, after the death of their founder Lee Byung-chul, it was segmented into 4 independent business groups. By the 1990s, Samsung became more globalized and their best sources of revenue came from their mobile phones and semiconductors. Business Portfolio Samsung Corporation is a multinational conglomerate company with operations in almost every country. Costars In The Movie American Hustle

...When the movie American Hustle was filmed, it was revealed in an email hack that her and costar Amy Adams were paid less than their male costars Christian Bale, Jeremy Renner, and Bradley Cooper. Many people ask why did Amy and Jennifer get paid less then Bradley, Christian, and Jeremy? Many people say that Jennifer Lawrence was the biggest star in that movie because of the Hunger Games and X-men franchises. Yes those two franchises probably did make her a big Hollywood star, but Christian Bale played Batman in The Dark Knight film trilogy, Amy Adams portays Lois Lane in Man of Steel and Barman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Bradley Cooper voices Rocket Raccoon in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, and Jeremy Renner plays Hawkeye in the Avengers...

Museum Essay

...Thuy Truong – 02390838 Professor Doyle ARTH 103 November 17, 2014 Guardians of the Galaxy One day when I was wandering around Bowers Museum, I came across nine oversized paintings shown in an exhibition made entirely by one extraordinary 69-year-old Buddhist monk in Nepal named Shashi Dhoj Tulachan, a second generation thangka artist living. The practice of thangka art has been around for centuries and is carried out by highly trained monks for the purpose of teaching about Buddha and the tenets of the Buddhist religion. The paintings attracted me because they were so big and colourful that I had to spend quite some time to fully absorb the beauty of the art. They are not thangka paintings in the traditional sense. Thangkas are usually much smaller and are rolled on canvas so that they can be easily transported and hung anywhere for teaching. All of the thangkas I saw were enormous, comparing to a regularly sized painting. They cover three-fourths the height of the wall and are four or five times wider than a normal human. These paintings also deviate from the rules of thangka art in the use of colours, shape, proportion, characteristics and qualities. The traditional thangka paintings are strictly regulated, while the thangkas shown in Bowers Museum are more free-flowing, giving the artist more room for creativity. Although all nine thangkas share the same size and characteristics, Virupaksa (Dharma King of the West Direction) with 16 attendants painting caught my eyes...

...he collapse of one of the world’s most striking and original game studios in late 1998 came as a shock to the industry. The precise circumstances of its collapse remain a mystery, but one fact remains. In an enigmatic 1992 press conference, Simon Bertucci used the phrase as he hinted at the development of a gaming technology well beyond the current state of the art. Following his death later that year, no notes or working prototype were found. Its lasting legacy includes four major game franchises: Realms of Gold, Clandestine, Solar Empires, and the Realms Beyond. REALMS OF GOLD SERIES FOLLOW the adventures of FOUR ETERNAL HEROES through INFINITE WORLDS, in the greatest INTERACTIVE experience ever forged. Realms of Gold I: Tomb of Destiny (1983) Realms of Gold II: War in the Realms (1984) Realms of Gold III: Restoration (1987) Realms of Gold IV: Foundation’s Edge (1990) Realms of Gold V: Aquator’s Realm (1993) Realms of Gold Worlds of Intrigue: High Society (1993) Realms of Gold VI: Far Latitudes (1994) Realms of Gold VII: Winter’s Crown (1998) Realms of Gold RPG, 1st Edition Rules (1999) Realms of Gold remains Black Art's seminal contribution to the medium. Begun in 1983 as a high school class project, the series extended from the earliest, crudest text adventures to state-of-the-art 3D and sprawled across multiple genres and at least four revolutions in graphics technology. It starred four heroes—a warrior, a wizard, a princess, and a half-elven thief—and...

Suicide Squad Vs Batman

...When Batman is away, the criminals will play - as the highly anticipated anti-hero film, Suicide Squad, debuted and broke several box office records... The third film in DC Comics' cinematic universe, Suicide Squad, starring Margot Robbie & Will Smith, absolutely pummeled its competition - amassing an impressive pay-off of $135.1 million. In the process, Suicide Squad became the biggest single-day opening during the month of August ($65.2 million on Friday) and the highest-grossing opening for August, as well - stripping the previous title holder, Guardians of the Galaxy, from both of those accolades. While DC Comics & Warner Bros. are likely jumping for joy this weekend, Suicide Squad, like Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, which opened with a disappointing $166 million (yeah, that's a disappointment, folks), is not looking to settle for a single weekend victory. This is a film, again like Batman v. Superman, that needs to exceed expectations. At this point, surpassing the...

Hesiod's Phenomenon: The Marvel Cinematic Universe

...is simple: myth changes. For every age that goes by, for every societal advancement made comes a new audience and a new culture consisting of new aesthetics, new morals, new flaws. What used to be sinful is now commonplace and what is unorthodox now will be conventional later. The characters within the MCU contain the moral elements we project as a society. Take for example Guardians of the Galaxy—this summer’s largest grossing film in the domestic box office, currently at $296,428,705 (“Box Office Mojo”)—and it’s motley crew of lovable miscreants. The protagonist Starlord, AKA Peter Quill, an active member of a corrupt mercenary group and cocky “lady’s man”, has no problem in deliberately deceiving his equally morally questionable fellow Guardians. Like other figures in the MCU, such as Thor and Iron Man, Starlord engages in similar morally dubious behaviors, such as hasty arrogance and flagrant acts of violent aggression. Yet, viewers continue to connect and sympathize with him, as his unethical behaviors are humorously playful enough for us to emotionally invest in. Gamora, the green-skinned female Guardian, is known to have committed multiple acts of murder against innocent individuals, and audiences continue to root for her to survive and fiercely overcome her rivals. Myth changes. The MCU is appealing to modern viewers as we are given an “us versus them”, or essentially a clear-cut “good versus bad”. It still displays characters of moral complexity, yet viewers would be significantly...
