For the son of God to come to the world he had to come through a channel, a woman that would bring him forth. She would give birth to him biologically. It would require a special woman to do that. She was in the mind of God at creation, she was in the Word of God in the scriptures and in the special action of God in her birth, all these made her to be the highly favored one. She is full of grace. Born in time but God had known her before she was born. By the special grace of God, she became one of the actors in the divine drama of human salvation. The savior of mankind, who existed before time began, became flesh in her womb, she is the chosen one. This was an unprecedented event in human history. The Word became flesh in the womb of a woman. Where it was kept in the Temple was known as the holy of holies, and was out of bounds to everybody except the high priest who of course had only to enter there a few times in the year. The Ark of the Covenant was holy because it contained some sacred objects. Scott Hahn describes it this way: In fact, the ark was what made that inner sanctum holy. For the ark held the tablets of stone on which the finger of God had traced the ten commandments. The ark contained a relic of the manna, the food God gave to sustain his people during their desert sojourn. The ark also preserved Aaron’s rod, the symbol of his priestly office.
