Section One, Part One Molecular clouds(Very large clouds of gas and dust tens of times larger than our solar system) run amuck in space. Inside, larger particles of dust attract smaller ones, because they have a stronger gravitational pull. These larger particles continued to gain mass. As one solid mass, now known as a protostar, is around 10 to 20 Kelvins. To become a star, the protostar must reach 15,000,000°. Until the mass reaches 15,000,000°, it will remain a protostar.

It's not because the earths rock just up'd and left and new rocks came in, it's because of the earths molten rock. Due to plate tectonics, rocks shift, crumble, and cycle through the earths layers. Old rock is recycled into molten rock, and then cooled to become new rock. The particles in the rock are still as old as the earth, if not older, but the rocks themselves are new.
Section Two, Part Five Earth is made up of several different layers. The three main layers are the core, the mantle, and the crust. The crust makes up less than 1% of the earth. It is made up of solid rock, and the earths plates. The mantle is made up of molten rock on which plates float. The mantle contains more than 65% of the Earth's mass. You're on the side of the road with your best friend on the Fourth of July selling lemonade to any passing bystander. Here comes your favorite part, the fire trucks! The sirens are blaring as loud as ever, but this time for fun, no fires are around and no one is hurt. The fire truck is coming down the street perpendicular to your lemonade stand. The siren is super loud, and very high pitched. As the truck nears, the sound waves shorten and in result, a higher pitch sound. The truck passes and continues to out space between you and it. The sound waves continue to grow and in result, lower pitch sirens! This is similar to Red Shift. On the spectrum, the left(blue) side is the shorter wave lengths. The right(red) side contains the longer wave lengths. Red shift is another way to explain how we know the universe is expanding(and thanks to the Big Bang will continue to expand). Red shift is when objects are moving away from us, which means longer wave lengths of light "shifting" towards the red end of the spectrum.
