Make sure you keep it connected to all the other hearts via the right side of the fold. When you open your string, the hearts should all be connected. ...Introduction Heart failure, also called congestive heart failure, occurs when your heart does not pump blood well enough to meet your body's needs for oxygen-rich blood. Heart failure is a long-term (chronic) condition. Living with heart failure can be challenging. However, following your health care provider's instructions about a healthy lifestyle and choosing the right foods may help improve your symptoms. A heart failure eating plan includes cutting down on unhealthy fats, adding more healthy fats, reducing certain nutrients, such as sodium, and making other small changes to your diet. It is recommended that you stay at a healthy body weight to help keep fat (lipid) levels within a normal range. Contact your health care provider before...

...May Make You Thinner Dread working out? Don’t break up with your treadmill just yet. But if it’s late and you haven’t made it to the gym, don’t forget that sex counts as exercise, too! “Sex burns between 75 and 150 calories per half-hour,” says Desmond Ebanks, MD, founder and medical director of Alternity Healthcare in West Hartford, Connecticut. It’s comparable to other physical activities, he says, like yoga (114 calories per half-hour), dancing (129 calories per half-hour) or walking (153 calories per half-hour). Bonus: Sex may also help your muscles stay lean in the process. “Sexual arousal and orgasm releases the hormone testosterone, which, among other things, is necessary to build and maintain bone and lean muscle tissue,” he adds. 2. It May Improve Your Heart Health You’re probably already aware that heart disease is the number-one killer of women. Eating a healthy diet, and keeping your cholesterol low and sodium in check are great ways to stay on top of heart health, but so is having sex. “Sex is exercise that raises heart rate and blood flow,” says Dr. Ebanks. “In a study published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, researchers found that having sex twice or more a week reduced the risk of fatal heart attack by half.” While the study results were focused on men, Dr. Ebanks suspects similar effects for women, too. 3. It Can Help You Get a Better Night’s Sleep What do you do to help you sleep? When chamomile tea and other remedies aren’t doing...

...Introduction In this procedure, the external and internal structures of a sheep’s heart was examined and identified by dissection. The heart is a muscle that pumps oxygenated blood and nutrients throughout the body. A sheep’s heart has four chambers like most mammals. Two of those chambers are receiving chambers called the right and left atrium. The other two chambers are pumping chambers called the right and left ventricle. The efficiency in the cycle of blood depends on the sequential contraction of the atriums and ventricles. Whenever the atriums contract this is called the systolic phase and whenever the ventricles contract this is called the diastolic phase. These contractions ensure the regular flow of blood through the heart. The contractions occur one after another to make a heartbeat. The many valves such as the tricuspid and mitral valves control the flow of blood from each chamber. Blood flow through the heart starts when the right atrium takes the blood that flows in through the superior or inferior vena cava. The right atrium then fills with blood and pressure causes tricuspid valve to open. The blood then goes into the right ventricle where it contracts the blood into the pulmonary arteries. These arteries lead to the lungs where blood is then oxygenated. The oxygenated blood then flows from the lungs to the left atrium through the pulmonary veins. Due to pressure the mitral valve, which leads to the left ventricle, opens up and pushes the blood into the left...

...above the head, compared to when the arm is at heart level and below the heart level, and the mean arterial pressure (MAP) determined from the calf will be significantly lower when the subjects are laying down compared to when they are standing up. Rationale: Gravity plays a large role in blood flow. This gravitational pull that directly affects blood is referred to as “hydrostatic pressure.” Gravity has a greater impact on blood flow in specific parts of the body, dependent upon location. The hydrostatic pressure is higher in lower limbs (or limbs located below the...

...Ares the god of War, Eros himself was deeply in love with the Greek goddess Psyche, the goddess who incorporated human emotions. Psyche was renowned for her divine beauty, which was said to be even greater than the beauty of Aphrodite. Eros had one daughter that was Voluptua. His brothers was Anteros, the god of requited love, also he had half-brothers and half-sisters which were named Harmonia that was her half-sister and Deimos and Phobos that were their half-brothers. Eros was the youngest of the gods, generally the son of Aphrodite by Ares or Hermes, always a child, thoughtless and capricious. He is as irresistible as fair, and has no pity even for his own mother. Zeus, the father of gods and men, arms him with golden wings, and with bow and unerring arrows, or burning torches. Eros is usually depicted as a young winged boy, with his bow and arrows at the ready, to either shoot into the hearts of gods or mortals which would rouse them to desire. He possessed two types of arrows; golden ones, to instill love in the heart of the recipient, and lead ones, to make a hearth immune to love. With these arrows, Eros could control the feeling of hearts, as he did in many famous Greek myths. Worship of Eros was uncommon in early Greece, but eventually became widespread. He was fervently worshiped by a fertility cult in Thespiae and in many regions of Greece. Eros...

...Running head: HEART DISEASE Heart Disease Victoria Martin Grand Canyon University: NRS-427V-0500 October 3, 2015 Heart Disease Heart Disease is a big term used to describe a lot of heart conditions but the most common type in the United States is known as coronary artery disease. This is where the flow of blood through the heart is slowed down due to plaque buildup in the arteries within the heart which blocks the blood flow and can lead to a heart attack. In the United States about one in every three adults or seventy million people has high blood pressure. Only about half of these have this under control by either diet and exercise or medication. Blood Pressure is a very common condition but if not under control it increases the patients risk for heart disease and stroke significantly. High blood pressure is known as the silent killer as it has no warning signs or symptoms so often patients do not even know that they have it and this is very dangerous (CDC, 2015). In the United States and most other societies, there is a strong tendency for Blood Pressure to rise progressively with increasing age; however, epidemiologic studies indicate that age-related increases in BP and the occurrence of hypertension are uncommon in societies whose members live in isolated settings. These findings indicate that high BP is not an inevitable consequence of aging and that prevention of hypertension is a realistic goal (Epidemiology and the Prevention of Hypertension. (n.d.). ...

It was gift that my boyfriend gave me for christmas a year and half ago. I originally wasn’t going to pick this necklace because I thought people would think it’s stupid, or not original. We had a break 2 years ago for a month. By the way, my boyfriends name is Danny. Anyways, prior to that break, I had another heart necklace, it was a lovely locket. Sadly, a month before we broke up I lost it. The 2 months before we had a break, it was a constant battle in my head. I was torn. He...

...Topic: How to make a paper heart Specific Purpose: To teach the audience the history and how to make paper hearts Thesis Statement: The audience will learn how to make a paper heart in less than 10 mins Introduction Attention Getter: So this might take you back to the good times and maybe show my age Transition: As a kid in middle school my friends and I would write notes back and forth to each other. And there came a point in time where either we got to sloppy with it or the teachers got really smart because they started seeing us and taking the notes and reading them to the whole class, and at this time most of our letters were who liked who . So of course nobody wanted that information to get out. So we came up with making paper hearts, and we would put them in the front of our folder so it looked like art and if the teachers seen us passing it around they would think we were just giving it to our friends to put inside their folder. Credibility: When I first started middle school I didn’t know that writing notes in class was such a big thing. I thought texting each other was a lot better but I see I was wrong not many phone companies had the unlimited plan till after 7pm. So unless you wanted to get in trouble by your parents later you were writing notes to each other in class. Thesis Statement: I’m going to tell you some of the history and then show you how to make a paper heart Preview: Tonight I will tell you what paper hearts can be used for and how to...
