The managers of the company harass fellow employees in different ways. Churchill took a surrey of hundred of people they all had faced similar situations by their managers which were sexual jokes or insults. The company had no policy explicitly prohibiting harassment. This doesn’t make the environment save to work in.
The following things in my point of view may cause harassment at work places: In office setting work relationships can be quite intimate and intense, and those involved share common interests. Employees are dependent on each other for teamwork and support, and dependents on their supervisor's approval for opportunities and career success.
Supervisors and employee can grow accustomed to the power they have over their employees. Such intensity and closeness can blur the professional boundaries and lead people to step over the line. Personal problems can also be a factor, and sexual harassment can be a symptom of the effects of life traumas.
Once a company is known for their shortcomings it’s hard to get beck in a good position, but still something should be done to change the circumstances. Provide training to educate employees on the issue of harassment and periodically remind them of your strong desire to maintain a harassment free workplace. Ensure that every complaint is taken seriously; take appropriate corrective action as soon as possible. Avoid making credibility judgments or reaching conclusions before you have gathered the facts.
What should you do: If you believe that you are the victim of sexual harassment in the workplace, don’t ignore the problem. Talking about sexual harassment can be uncomfortable, but you can empower yourself by talking with other employees who may also be experiencing harassment and by speaking up. Make It clear to the harasser that he conduct is unwelcome you may want to put your position in writing, perhaps in an email. By doing so, you will have proof that the conduct was unwelcome if the harassment doesn’t stop.
Being an ethical company is very important for your business and view of company. No one would want to work for a company where you don’t feel respected.
