As the communication coordinator for a national drug manufacturer, I am here today to discuss with the organization the negative effects that our medication is causing on the public. This meeting will be addressing the news reports and the general public about the situation at hand. Also I will be going over the advantages and disadvantages of using traditional, electronic, and social media with health care communication.
The first type of communication that will be discussed is the use of traditional communication. Traditional communication includes the face-to-face method, using the telephone, having a team meeting and using printed newsletters. With using face-to-face communication one of the advantages would be that each person gets to see one another which makes it easier to read their body language and understand better what might be occurring. Another advantage would be the personal relationship that can be built between the people who are communicating. Disadvantages would include not being able to speak what is on ones mind to the person when looking at them. Another would be not being very good at confronting someone who may be of higher authority than them. Next type is the telephone, which has the advantage of still allowing the person to voice what they have to say and be able to adjust their tone when needed. Disadvantage would be that the phone could cut out or there is the mis communication that could occur due to misunderstanding the tone of the statement. Advantage of team meeting is it allows for colleagues to be able to get together in room and converse over the situation at hand. Disadvantage would be that not all members are able to physically be in the same room so they have to use intercom to include them. The last type of
