...of months ago, I was working in my store which is cellular phone store where we take payments and sell cellular phones. A customer walked in on a Sunday and was inebriated, he wanted to pay his bill. The customer bill was close to a hundred dollar. He gave me all twenty dollar bills, when I counted them they were six twenty dollar bills. Which were twenty more than his bill. I had a choice to return the twenty or keep it. If I would have kept it he wouldn’t have known. But I decided to give the money back to the customer, because my conscious wouldn’t allow me to keep the money. After the customer was gone I thought about it and I came to the conclusion that the twenty dollar I didn’t keep would not make me any richer or poorer than what I already was. Statement: Would the twenty dollar will make me richer or poorer. Solution: In this problem there are only two possible solution. A. Give the money back. B. Or you keep the money. On the first part when you give it back, you are dealing with a multitude of issues, starting with you ethical behavior, your upbringing, and your conscious. What I mean by this is when, I got the money I could have kept it but it would have been morally wrong of me to keep the money that didn’t belong to me. As a person I have always tried to do the right thing. And if I keep the money I would have been doing the wrong against all the principles that I have been fighting for all my life. That will kick my conscious in to action and I would...

...belong? [Pause] I just don’t know anymore. After my father’s death, I feel like I’m trapped in this derelict house where everyone wants something from me. They want me to understand the reality and grow up! But it’s not like I don’t try, I try every day to fit in, to belong to Kuran Station, to feel a connection with the land. That’s what my uncle wants, right? I just need to impress him, feel a connection with the land. Then why am I feeling confused and lost in a sea of isolation. I feel helpless, excluded and anxious. I don’t belong and how can I? I’ve been separated from my farm, the place where I grew up, where all of my reminiscent, unforgettable memories reside. That’s where I belong. I remember my farm, it was miniature and obsolete but it was home. [Happy tone, reminiscing...

...introduction. Besides, the informal introduction is used when the addressee is your age or younger than you. For example, when you meeting a president of a university, it is advisable to say, “How do you do?” rather than “How ya doing?” Likewise, someone, who is your age or younger would probably say, “It’s nice to meet you” rather than “How do you do?” Here are the other examples of introducing yourself: Formal Introduction | Informal Introduction | * Let me introduce myself. * I am glad for this opportunity to introduce myself. * I just wanted to introduce myself, * I don't believe we've met before, * I don't think we've actually met formally yet, | * My name is... * I'm... * Hi, I’m… * Hello guys, I’m… | Here are the examples of introducing someone else: Formal Introduction | Informal Introduction | * I would like to introduce you to ....., the president of Muhammadiyah University. * Mr. Jones, may I introduce my boss, ... * Allow me to introduce my colleague. ...Overview: Plagiarism Review at the CWE Scene Title: Intro Meeting at Speedwich Deli Dialogue: Gabby Hey there! Welcome to the Speedwich amazing Deli. They’re so fast you actually have time to eat the sandwich you got during your lunch break, instead of taking one bite and shoving it in your desk! Student Text Bubble Sounds great. What’s wrong with Quentin? He looks sick. Alicia He’s just a bit nervous, that’s all. I was just trying to get him to calm down. Quentin Which is not easy, considering I might fail my class or worse, get expelled from the University. Oh man! Where’s my pastrami on rye? Alicia Quentin may not have cited his sources for his last paper properly, and he’s worried he’s going to be accused of plagiarism. Gabby As much as it is an easy mistake to make, plagiarism is still a serious offense and could lead to a Student failing their assignment or even being thrown out of a class or school altogether—even if it is an accident. Quentin You’re not helping here, Gabby! Student Text Bubble Is it really that serious? Gabby Yes, plagiarism is right up there with cheating and stealing, from a moral and ethical perspective. You’re taking someone’s property, their intellectual property, and claiming it as your own. That’s why we’ve been focusing a lot on citation. When you cite your sources, you not only give your readers a clear path to take if they want to read and learn more on your topic, you also...

...Title of Paper Author Name Institutional Affiliation Repeat the Full Paper Title Here I post this paper template with some American Psychological Association (APA) guidelines (APA, 2009) in order to help you learn APA. Note that I am not trying to write a thesis here, but am trying to provide you with a useful template and some tips to improve your writing! The use of this template is not required, but I strongly recommend using it to submit your papers in this and other courses if your instructors do not provide a template or guidelines but do require APA. You can simply replace my words and headings with your words and headings. This section is the introduction of your paper. Note that it does not have a heading that says “Introduction”; the fact that it is the introduction is implied by its placement within the paper. A strong introduction will provide the background or an overview of your paper’s topic, explain the paper’s purpose, and provide an outline of the paper. Headings All of your papers will probably include first level headings. First level headings are like the one above. They should be centered, boldface, and use title case (Upper and Lower Case like the Examples in this Paper). For a long, in-depth paper, you may want sections within your headings. These are second level headings. They should be flushed left, boldface, and title case like this: Second Level Heading 1 Second Level Heading 2 Please note that headings follow the 2x2 rule described...

The city life: busy, pressure, hard work, achievement, convenience, shopping, movie, entertainment, the air pollution, the busy mass transmission system, my parents, my siblings, coldness between people, everything is complex The country life: my old and stubborn grandpa, my tender grandma, the nostalgia, the tangerine garden, the old house, living on the mountain, fresh air, comfortable atmosphere, the life without worry, get up early, quiet, seldom going to the town, no many shopping store, do not have to worry about the relationship between people, simple food for every meal Possible idea for contrasting: complex relationship to people versus simple relationship to people, the convenience life versus isolated life on the mountain, the irregular and regular work and rest life Text: Everyone has her own image to the city life and the country life; therefore I have my own idea to these two kinds of life style. To me the city life is quite different to the country life, and the comparison sources are my life experience and my memory. I lived with my grand parents in the country in my childhood; after I finished my first year in the elementary school, I came to live with my parents in the Taipei County. From then on, I go back to my grandparents’ old house when it is summer or winter vacation. Under this situation, the differences between the city life and the country life becomes evidently. The first difference in these two...

...When reading a book or watching a movie there is almost always that moment when the title is finally mentioned in the story and everyone goes “ooooohhhhhh”. Generally every story’s title will correlate to the piece, this will either happen quickly or it will become more apparent as the story progresses. Titles can also either help or hurt the piece, for instance, if a story has an interesting title it will catch people’s attention and attract more readers or viewers. On the other side there can be a very well written piece with a boring title and it will not attract many viewers or readers because it will not grab their attention. In Night by Elie Wiesel the title becomes relevant fairly early in the story. The reader sees Elie connect the...

...aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Monday, March 12, 2012 My Cousin Vinny: a story about legal education The Abnormal Use blog is celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the release of the movie My Cousin Vinny by publishing a series of comments and interviews and also by sponsoring a multi-blog discussion on the movie. Go here to get more information. When my students ask me to recommend movies, I give them a list I have prepared over the years in which I have organized the titles under certain main “themes.” No one is surprised to see My Cousin Vinny on the list, but some are surprised I have listed it under the theme of “legal education.” So, I thought I’d use my contribution to the Abnormal Use blog’s celebration to explain why. One reason I place My Cousin Vinny under the theme of legal education is that it provides so much material you can use in the classroom. For example, you can use the movie to discuss criminal procedure, courtroom decorum, professional responsibility, unethical behavior, the role of the judge in a trial, efficient cross-examination, the role of expert witnesses and effective trial advocacy. Go here, here and here for more on this. But the reference to legal education goes deeper. I think you can use the movie to discuss the most common topic of debate within legal education itself. Interestingly, however, in My Cousin Vinny, the issue is turned on its head. After Vinny’s girlfriend Mona Lisa bails him out for a second time after having been...

...Michael Richards, Tar Baby vs St Sebastian My favorite of the three specified images in the Contemporary Art section of the North Carolina Museum of Art is hard to choose. I liked all three pieces for different reasons. I have always loved Pablo Picasso’s work and have one hanging in my home. I can appreciate the Seated Woman, Red and Yellow Background, but it not in my favorites of Picasso’s work. When I first saw Portrait of Emy, by Karel Schmidt-Rottluff, my instincts were that he must have studied under Picasso. Portrait of Emy jumps out at you with the bold orange oil color. The blue eyes grab and hold your attention in an odd way, and I haven’t quite figured out the hair style his wife, Emy, had when she sat for this. And then when I looked at Michael Richards’ Tar Baby vs. St. Sebastion, I had a much different feeling. I was overwhelmed with wondering why he would give this sculpture a name like this. A man cast in gold, a pilot, covered with small airplanes…. It is intriguing. My first thought was that it must represent one of the world wars though it was made in 1999. Could it be paying tribute to a veteran family member? Without researching the artist or the piece itself, I would choose this as my favorite because it makes me want to understand more about the artist. If I was at a gallery viewing this statue I would likely stand around and discuss it with a friend. However, I wouldn’t want any of the three pieces in my home. I think any of these three could...
